“We are so lucky to have this cafe here in Pasadena! I've tried the carbonara, puttanesca, sandwiches, foccacia, and fried zucchini blossom, and it's all been delicious. Their homemade bread is incredible and is the star of their amazing sandwiches. For fellow lovers of bittersweet Italian sodas, they stock chinotto here, as well a couple small bitter sodas! On top of how good the food is, the service is very warm and friendly. You can tell it's a family business run with a lot of love. I came late in the day so I sadly missed the egg tarts but they had plenty of po tarts which are basically milk cream custard in the tart forms. The pastry was so light and flaky with a rich and velvety filling!

I wanted a savory pastry too and asked the cashier which was their favorite, they recommended the spicy curry. This wasn't the best.It wasn't bad but it also wasn't spicy nor did it have much flavor. The pastry dough itself was so much better than the entirety of the item.“

I guess he picked up on the fact that I was looking for something different, so he offered to make a custom one and I picked up the most delicious cake around an hour later! So moist and delicious! I love this bakery, their customer service is unmatched! I went with a vanilla cake with fresh strawberries, bananas and custard filling.“

“If this is not the best banh mi in all of Sgv and Oc, I don’t know of any place that can beat them. All cash by the way so come prepared. Their dac biet is the perfect sandwich and their daikon and carrots are light and bouncy with fresh jalapeno with the right amount of pate and butter. They have it down to perfection, nothing less. Had an open house and served it for homebuyers and they were blown away! Highly recommend! Cafe sua da is gold too, loved the shaved ice in the coffee and not too sweet. The ladies in the back are super sweet and you can buy the baguettes and freeze them, then 350 f for 6 mins in toaster or airfryer. Get the egg rolls, and pa te so is good too. My clients loved their vegetarian banh mi too!

“Looking for a sweet treat to share with your loved ones this Valentine's Day? Look no further than this amazing bakery my sister and I visited! We tried the Red Velvet Cinnamon Roll, Classic Cinnamon, Coffee Cake, Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cornbread Cookies and White Chocolate Macadamia. And let me tell you, they were all absolutely delicious!

My personal favorite has always been the Classic Cinnamon rolls. They're so moist and flavorful, even days later! The red velvet cinnamon rolls were a close second though. The coffee cake was perfect, the cookies were to die for, and our Hot Americano was served fresh and hot.

The only downside was the long wait - we stood in line for an hour on Valentine's Day! But the friendly staff and amazing treats made it worth it. We got a crème brule, a carrot cake, a macaroon and two iced teas. The iced teas are made fresh and then put over ice. They were very good. My gf got a passion fruit one and I got got mint. We would definitely come again. And the workers I think are the owners but they were super nice and even asked us to try the teas before we left to make sure we were happy with them. “We ordered the pecan pie for Thanksgiving. It was the best part of our meal!! I've gone through a lot of pecan pies in my life. Always disappointed that the crust doesn't have the right amount of salt to balance the sweetness or that sweet gooey stuff around the pecans is artificial tasting or the pecans don't taste right. This pie is perfect from start to finish. It's made with real butter which I can taste. The pecans seem to be just slightly roasted and there's lots of them. I'm so happy with this place. I ♥️ Paris Bagutte! Always with delicious pastry and really good iced coffee. If I am on my cheat day, PB is my got to place.
It was my first time on this location and it was impressive. It’s located next to a luxury apartment bldg. Indoor seats were comfortable and its atmosphere was relaxing.

I ordered a Cold Brew, Strawberry croissant, Coffee Cronut and Croissant Donut. All items were great in taste and texture. I had a sugar high after eating those pastries haha! Anyways, staff (Isabela) was nice and professional and prices were reasonable and match the quality. Overall, this PB location was good and I recommend you visit.“

“My partner and I went to Blossom Market Hall to grab a coffee and couldn't help but be intrigued by the delicious smells coming from Ish's stand. We've been there a few times, but the first time we went, he had made a pumpkin scone that is absolutely one of the best pastries I've ever had. The texture was exactly how a scone is supposed to be: an initial crunch, but soft and pillowy on the inside, not hard and crumbly like many scones at other bakeries.

We have tried a total of 5-6 different items now, and every single one of them has been a delight to eat. None of his pastries are overly sweet, honoring the flavor of each, whether ube, pumpkin, or another. My only complaint is that he hasn't had the pumpkin scone the other times we've gone; it appears he changes up the menu day-to-day, which is great, but I've been really wanting that pumpkin scone again! Their website limits the characters and couldn’t get the full Happy Birthday and name on the cake, which was a bummer but the call was quick and easy. Just needed a few hours notice. The vibe is instantly welcoming, decor is colorfully minimalist, that’s probably not a thing, but it’s the best descriptor I have. The baristas are friendly, skilled and true devotees to all things coffee, even willing to share some potential sites to visit on the next LAtte stop. The coffee itself is excellent, rich, flavorful and no hint of bitterness. I went with oat milk this time and it paired perfectly with the blend, rich creamy, delicious! I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit should you find yourself in the area, or even if your not- expand your horizons and make it a destination, it’s worth it.“

“We’ve been getting cakes at this place for around 4-6 years I believe. The cakes have always been moist, soft, and extremely delicious/flavorful. A birthday cake we got of chocolate w/ strawberry filling tasted amazing but a bit dry (that was the only time that happened). We love that the frostings aren’t so sugary to the point that it’s obnoxious. It’s just perfectly balanced. My favs are the fruit tarts & vanilla cake w/mixed fruit filling. We have tasted the vanilla w/ mango cake and it’s phenomenal!! We recently tried the cream and custard puffs & they were light and creamy, 10/10 recommend. We have bought cakes here for dinner gatherings with friends & they’ve enjoyed the cakes too, always asking where we buy them. It’s true that the bakery “appearance wise” would appreciate a nice upkeep since it looks a bit old fashioned/worn out but it’s always clean and organized so it doesn’t bother us. It’s honestly a gem hidden in Montebello :)

“I have been coming here since about 1994 when I was introduced to Mexican cuisines by a wonderful girl I was dating. She took me to places that were the best and how to taste for good and bad Mexican foods.

Even though I was living in Pomona and surrounding cities until I enlisted in the Army, I would even make sure I came here when I was on leave. Then I moved to New York but never forgot this place. Pan dolce in Brooklyn and Queens is no comparison. So I would bring back pan from Durans Bakery. I shared my story with the folks at Durans, and I was mentioning how awesome Italian and Jewish pastries were in New York. Then, every month, I would bring back those pastries with mozzarella balls and bagels to share with my friends and family and, of course, Durans bakery. When I returned to NY, it was with In n out burger and durans who always packed the boxes with care for the long journey back.

Then 9/11 happened.

Wasn't as frequent, but I managed to make visits to durans and bring to New York all the pastries I could and vice versa.

I moved back to California after Iraq and military in 2005 to Ventura County, where i met my wife. I had introduced her to this place. She fell in love with the goods and the folks in the back. Always yelling out PRIMO, PRIMO to me, when I walked in. Had that VIP feel. But that's loyalty after 20 years of patronage.

Then Covid happened. Our diets changed, and the family got older. Kids were in school and had school stuff and sports. Our time wasn't there for a while.

We went to Aquarium of the Pacific for a family day. On our way home to Westlake Village, I suggested to my wife to stop by Durans. She had a huge smile and responded,'porque no', and here we embarked on the 45-minute detour

I knew EXACTLY where I was going. Parked, went inside what I knew was Durans Bakery from 5 years prior.

Now the place has a restaurant. But thankfully, the pan dolce was still there.

Some skinny kid was helping me. I had started to order a LOT until my wife explained to the skinny kid about NY and the years I have been coming here. Then he replied, "You're the one? We heard about you." I was slightly taken aback by the 'celebrity status' ( it's the little things in life). Then he introduced himself as the new owner.

Well, he explained to me the change of ownership and his vision. I had stopped my order from 10 lbs of goodies to just a small box. I said I would try a little in case the taste changed. He said it hadn't because he didn't want to lose his loyal customer base. I understood, and that's a great business move. Don't fix it if it ain't broken.

He offered me a taste of chilaqules, which I declined. (I have been traumatized from a previous relationship by chilaquiles, so i never had it again.)

Well, after a 45-minute conversation with the new owner (the skinny kid and if you're reading this, forgive the description). We had departed on our way home.

Sunday morning, the pan dulce was gone. All of it. GONE. this was as good if not better. The pastries his mom made.. I think he said mom, I could be wrong. They were flan and some other refrigerated goodies. But they, too, were amazing.

Durans Bakery did NOT disappoint.

This is the moral of the story. This long, long story.

Please visit Durans. They will not disappoint.

Their success will continue. I will still be loyal and be on the receiving end of that success by enjoying the best Pan Dulce I have ever had in my short life. 30 years and still counting.

I am disappointed, however, at longer making cakes especially, tres leches.
