“Hiatus= opportunity for another stop in the LAtte tour. Today’s pilgrimage finds me in Sierra Madre at Syndicate, a fantastic find nestled comfortably downtown on Sierra Madre Blvd. Plenty of street parking and a beautiful place to take a stroll if you don’t score a spot immediately out front. The vibe is instantly welcoming, decor is colorfully minimalist, that’s probably not a thing, but it’s the best descriptor I have. The baristas are friendly, skilled and true devotees to all things coffee, even willing to share some potential sites to visit on the next LAtte stop. The coffee itself is excellent, rich, flavorful and no hint of bitterness. I went with oat milk this time and it paired perfectly with the blend, rich creamy, delicious! I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit should you find yourself in the area, or even if your not- expand your horizons and make it a destination, it’s worth it.“

“This place is amazing! Great sandwiches, great service, and going on the weekend to get their cinnamon rolls is a must. Only thing to note, they close at 3pm NOT 4pm like it says on Google Maps. If you show up and it’s closed, be sure to check out all the other great things Sierra Madre has to offer!“

“We ordered our wedding cake from Yvonne’s Vegan Kitchen. Using the cake testing kit was a great experience—it came with a lovely personalized note, and was a great activity to do together while planning our wedding (and provided us multiple evenings’ worth of dessert!) The staff at the store were always friendly to interact with, as well.

Ordering was very easy and straightforward, with prompt and efficient communication. We ended up using one of the example designs on the website, and it came out looking wonderful. The cake had layers of chocolate and red velvet cake with mocha buttercream icing and hazelnuts added between the layers—we highly recommend this combination!

We tasked a family member with fetching us breakfast on the day, and coincidentally they happened to visit Yvonne’s Vegan Kitchen for that as well—so thank you also for some delicious breakfast baked goods!“

Lol Service was amazing, all the ladies inside were attentive, supportive and sweet. There was a line outside to door. I waited no more than 5-6 min. “What an absolute gem of a find! I visited for the first time today—and to my absolute delight, just five minutes from my home, I found a real maritozzo con panna that transported me straight back to Rome! You have no idea how happy this made me.
If I could, I’d give it a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars! If I may humbly offer one tiny, respectful suggestion from a passionate Roman heart: try making the cream (la panna) completely unsweetened. In Rome, we keep the whipped cream unsweetened because the light dusting of powdered sugar on top and the soft, sweet brioche bun already provide the perfect amount of sweetness.
At first glance, unsweetened cream might feel like it's missing something, but I promise you, it creates such a delicious balance that people will end up ordering two! Back home, I can easily polish off two in one sitting, whereas here I was full after one just from the extra sugar rush. (And you will save money on the sugar saved !)

“I'm legally blind and I was actually there to visit my cardiologist roughly 6 minute walking distance on the other end of 1st Street. I got myself into a dilemma by buying two dozen of egg tarts which comes in two large pizza size boxes. The young lady who helped me at the store first told me they don't have such a big bag for those boxes, but she obviously considered my convenience so she went to the bag and dig out a large size shopping bag. I guess you can tell how appreciative I was even though those boxes have to go in sideway anyway... It still helped me to hold those boxes in one hand and my white cane on the other.“

“If this is not the best banh mi in all of Sgv and Oc, I don’t know of any place that can beat them. All cash by the way so come prepared. Their dac biet is the perfect sandwich and their daikon and carrots are light and bouncy with fresh jalapeno with the right amount of pate and butter. They have it down to perfection, nothing less. Had an open house and served it for homebuyers and they were blown away! Highly recommend! Cafe sua da is gold too, loved the shaved ice in the coffee and not too sweet. The ladies in the back are super sweet and you can buy the baguettes and freeze them, then 350 f for 6 mins in toaster or airfryer. Get the egg rolls, and pa te so is good too. My clients loved their vegetarian banh mi too!

Vegetarian options: Just get he vegetarian banh mi! Only vegetarian thing to get or just plain baguettes! It will be worth it!“

Their iced Chai tased mostly like cinnamon water.
Their almond croissant was decent.
All that with tip was $60 for breakfast.
I can think of MANY places where I could have had better breakfast food for that price.
Waitress and hostesses were on point with great service, so at least there’s that.“

“Kitchen Mouse Bakery is a true delight! Adorable inside, it has the kindest employees and offers all manner of delicious vegan treats. Their breakfast sandwich is an addiction along with their s’mores brownie. “Absolutely worth the visit! Browned has some of the best pastries I’ve had in SGV. The puffs are light, crispy, and not overly sweet. My favorites were the Oolong tea, Salted Egg Yolk Taro, and Dark Chocolate flavors. We also loved the Rose Lychee Raspberry Croissant and the Kimchi Runny Egg Croissant，the sweet and savory combination was so unique. Everything tasted fresh and beautifully made. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!“
