La Fe’s STAR employee, Caleb, had to dismantle the freakin’ couch using power tools in order to retrieve my phone. It took so much work and time and I’m so grateful. “Was super happy with our dinner at Hippo. Every dish was delicious. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower starters had excellent flavors. All the pastas we tried had incredible depth of flavor without being overly heavy or greasy. The hippo rolls and table focaccia were excellent and the chicken thighs were to die for. This place has a Japanese cocktail bar aesthetic to it, heavy wood paneling, well made drinks, Japanese whiskeys. Keen and detail oriented eyes oversaw it's restructure....

“Nativo is a small Spanish tapas joint off a side street in Highland Park. The paella sampler was well done—seafood was fresh, saffron flavor was balanced, and the socarrat crust was crisp. I also tried a jamón croqueta and grilled octopus, both of which were flavorful. The wine list is modest but thoughtfully selected. The ambiance is dim and cozy, with candles and exposed brick. The only thing is noise — during peak hours it gets loud, but that’s part of the energy.“

“This place is narrow but an absolute gem of a place for live fairly intimate music performances. The sound system is great, the service even better, and the crowd very fun. It's also incredibly convenient to get to via train from Union Station so you really kinda have zero excuse if you get a DUI.

Not sure how the table situation works but I'm assuming you have to get there early to score one or at the bar. Otherwise it's standing room only with a few loose stools toward the rear atrium section.

The only true but minor inconvenience is the having to swipe/pay for every drink purchase. I get the why but the service and drink options make up for it.“

“I visited in October, and the whole place was dark with Halloween décor — definitely a vibe. The bar atmosphere is great and the customer service was on point. They have a wide selection of cocktails, and my absolute favorite was the Coffee Martini — honestly the best one I’ve ever had. Highly recommend checking this spot out.“

This bar nightclub in Highland Park hosts a wide array of events including karaoke nights, drag shows, live band concerts, and more.

I attended an event on a Sunday, Bear Garden: LABussy, a vendor mart and body positive event. Drink are good and the signature cocktails are unique for sure. There's a bunch of seating inside and some limited seating on their patio.

They open at 5pm daily, but for Bear Garden they opened a little earlier at 4pm. So events have covers, but they're reasonable.

Restrooms are clean and easy to access.

Parking is street and can be a journey as they like to say. Service is great and the bartenders are outstanding.
