I stopped by Wing Hop Fung to restock on loose leaf teas; it's generally best to buy around November - December because they offer discounts (usually 10% - 30%) for VIP members; this visit was 20% with a random 30% & 40% on select flavors. I typically purchase a half dozen, but this time I went double digits because my son wanted to try a couple.

I left a couple of bags over the summer while visiting my MIL, so I needed to restock. Judy was handling the counter & brewed samples of High Mountain Tie Guan Yin (aka goddess tea), which had a nice roasted & sweet tang. I also tried the Rose Black Tea, which had a fragrant floral taste.

I picked a few of my usual & tried a couple of new blossoming teas: Dancing Butterfly & Delightful Bouquet (my fav Peach Fairy is no longer stocked), & mostly green teas with an oolong & white tea. Most of my picks are in the mid-range, & usually purchase between 1/4 - 1/2 oz., with the occasional 1 lb. of my favorite of the day. My fav oolong, Phoenix Yellow Stone Oolong (天仙獻福工藝茶) wasn't in stock; I love the mellow & smooth taste with strong honey aroma. These tea trees in Guangdong have been there since the Song Dynasty & were once only reserved for royalty, so this tea is still rare due to its limited production. I'm not sure if this is also discontinued but I haven't seen it on my last 2 visits. ＼(｀0´)／

It was nice chatting Judy, giving me an opportunity to practice my Cantonese (廣州話), but customers kept interrupting my order so it took longer than necessary with just 1 person behind the counter, & the fact that I usually sample 1 - 2 teas & sniff the teas before buying. No tea comps from 阿姨 for this large purchase. If M wasn't with me, I might have asked to sample a couple more teas. ;-) There’s a stack of aged pu-erh teas that are almost a decade old, ranging from $99.99 - $2,399.99/lb. (top to bottom). Wowza!

I also stocked up some snacks & found a cute kitty mug for my niece; she's been newly inducted to drinking loose leaf teas so I'm sharing my load as part of her Christmas gift. I need to find her a clear teapot for the blossoming teas. I wanted to pick-up guilinggao (龟苓膏) & bird's nest (燕窩), but didn't see any & already overstayed because the l'il guy was getting impatient so I skipped it/didn't ask about them.

I'm sad that they're no longer in Chinatown; they currently only have 2 locations: Monterey Park & Arcadia (The Shops at Santa Anita). Still not a frequent patron but a loyal one, I always look forward to restocking my tea supplies here & practicing my Cantonese.

“My family and I frequent here quite often and every single time, the drinks were on point! Thai tea, Thai-chata, strawberry vortex, pineapple escape, milky way taro, polar pomegranate are just a few that I've tried and would recommend but everything including food is so good. I brought family with me to do a tea tasting and we got to try several different types of tea that invigorated my love for tea! Not only that, but Mama Wang herself brewed the tea and helped us pick different varieties and was a wonderfully charming and sweet person to speak to. “I love this place!! They have a great selection, and super helpful when I'm looking for something specific – plus, I can give them a dollar amount and they'll weigh it out for me, rather than picking a weight and getting a price for it.

On a hot day, I 100% recommend their peppermint cooler – it's a slightly milky slushy with peppermint tea, and it is so so so delicious and refreshing.“

“This is My son and I favorite go to spot for boba drinks.. he always gets the oreo with oreo bits slush with mini boba . I either get the taro slush or Thai tea slush with also mini boba .. soo good .. I also get moms and pops the aloe Vera drinks .. the passion fruit and or kiwi one I think .. we sometimes get the popcorn chicken spicy 😋 very seasoned and always tender .. the churros can be a hit or miss at times..

“This review is a long time coming! I came here 3 times between Oct 2022 and April 2023, bringing friends (some new and some repeats) for tea tastings. You can try 5 teas per tasting with 5 steepings per tea (for time's sake and not because of flavor dissipation). There is such a wide and ever-changing selection of teas so there's always more to try than you could possibly ever drink!Tea habitat specializes in Chinese teas, but since that's already a lot of area to cover, you'll find something for everyone's tastes. The owner is hilarious, and we all enjoyed interacting not only with the tea and each other, but also with her. We definitely leave tea drunk :)I usually put some tasting notes for the teas in my reviews, but notes for 15 teas is a bit excessive so I'll just share a couple of my favorites.The 2022 Tai Ping Hou Kui Wild Grown 1st pick is almost matcha-like, velvety soft with a slight nuttiness. The flavor mellows over the steepings into a clean mouthfeel with subtle floral bouquet.The 2022 Xiao Ye Tu Cha Wild Native (white) Varietal Small Leaf was super interesting! The creamy berry sweetness really predominates in the second steeping, and there is a subtle almost umami tendency in the third steeping.I also bought a Chao Zhou red clay teapot to brew Phoenix Dan Cong teas at home!To buy to bring home, the prices of the tea leaves really range, with (of course) the really high quality teas being pricier (but oh are they good!). This is not my go-to place to stock up tea for every day drinking (can't quite afford that and some personal preferences), but it's a great treat for tea lovers to be able to access and experiment with a variety of Chinese teas. “A decent boba spot in Pasadena. I always wished they had more toppings. But all their drinks are good and consistent. They have a really small parking lot with Afters IceCream. But there’s plenty of street parking all around. I usually get their fresh jaded green mountain tea with black and white boba. I like almost all their drinks and the aesthetic vibes of the cafe. But I wish there was a restroom and more space area to sit and enjoy the tea there.“

“First time in a tearoom, and we were not disappointed. Took my 16-year-old daughter and she had a blast. I did the Bridgerton experience and my daughter did the normal afternoon teatime experience. Everything from the smiles, the service the reservation process to the yummy and delightful mini sandwiches was excellent. “We have been going to Boba Box since it was still doing the soft opening. We drive about 15-20 mins just to come here. My family found a new boba place that actually accommodate everybody drinking favorite. I don’t have to drive to Rowland Heights for Half And Half then go to West Covina for BYOB and OneZo. Then go to Dunkin Donuts for Matcha latte. Boba Box is amazing and drinks always comes out the same taste every time. Just the right coldness and amount of toppings. Keep it up the good work.“

(1) I was surprised by how fairly everything seemed priced. The tags scared me at first but they are /per pound price. For reference 4oz is WAY more than I thought. Imagine filling up a gallon ziploc bag.
(2) Someone came to help me very quickly, showed me the good stuff (freshly picked green tea), and did everything to make sure I felt comfortable before making a purchase. I’m not used to this communication style but was 100% satisfied with her help.
(3) I’m sorry to everyone who had a bad experience. I wasn’t asked to pay a minimum (to whoever said there was, would love more details). Hopefully if you come back you’ll have a more positive one like mine“

“The review was long overdue and wanted to get this as soon as realistically as possible but I have to say this institution of boba is one of the better ones in SGV! First and foremost, you get house made boba they make in house (which is rare). The owner does it herself from the front. 2nd I had a drink that was made too sweet. Unfortunately, I couldn't go back to exchange so I had to go the next day and well, I got offered for a replacement no issue from the owner. “Authentic Taiwanese style tea place !

I really enjoyed my winter melon lemon tea with aiyu jelly. I customized it with half ice and half sugar, and it turned out perfectly balanced. The tea had a subtle hint of winter melon, which was nice.

The matcha latte with aiyu jelly and red bean was equally satisfying. Opted for 30% sugar, and it struck just the right level of sweetness.

Both drinks were refreshing and well-crafted.

Also ordered the Yifang egg pancakes. The texture was great—the inside was slightly bouncy while the outside had a nice firmness to it. A tasty and fun addition to the afternoon tea.“

“TL;DR - I loved their new matcha lineup (super unique and good). The drinks here are pretty lol. Popcorn chicken and sticky chicken bites hit the spot. Charbroiled ribeye was very good too. And definitely ask for less sugar if that’s your usual!

I’ve been meaning to check this place out for a while, and I’m glad I finally did. Their menu is stacked for both food and drink, but the drinks are what really shine. They’re honestly some of the prettiest drinks I’ve seen (and yes, they taste as good as they look). The food was solid overall, and they’ve got all the classics you expect from a milk tea spot.

We tried the new matcha series and every single one was a tasty. The screaming strawberry matcha milk tea was super refreshing, and the cookie butter matcha ended up being my personal favorite—I’m weak for anything biscoff and this one was seriously delicious lol. The screaming blueberry matcha was really fun to try too. You don’t see blueberry matcha often, so that was cool and definitely worth getting if you love blueberry. Heads up: their drinks lean sweeter, so if you’re a “30–50% sugar” person, make sure to make that request here too.

Food-wise, I was excited they had popcorn chicken. You can’t go wrong with that. The sticky chicken bites were also tasty (a sweeter option). The standout for me was the charbroiled ribeye. I’m always a sucker for ribeye, and theirs did not disappoint.

Service was quick, the staff were super friendly, and the space has a chill vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating, good lighting, and it’s a nice spot to study or just hang out with friends.“
