The atmosphere is comfortable and our family of 6 was able to eat a decent meal here for less than it would've cost to purchase a united lounge access pass for the 2 kids who didn't qualify. This pic is what was leftover. We only ordered 5 meals for 6 of us and we still couldn't eat everything.“

“I'm a sucker for old-fashioned diners, the ones that seem stuck in time, stubbornly holding on to nostalgia when it was king in its glory days, back before chain restaurants and cookie-cutter decor and brands.

They hold a special allure when you're traveling down the byways where they still thrive, but they're especially precious when you find them in urban areas where they compete with fast-food conglomerates.

So I don't take places like Gunter's for granted, an old establishment (South San Francisco) in the midst of urban blandness of homogeneity. They're still places where old men gather swapping tall tales and spar politics over Farmer Brothers coffee brand to while their time away.

This genre seems to be a fleeting gem of Americana as I see many of them boarded up and closed down even along the blue highways. So in your travels, take a moment to patronize these places before too many of them disappear as victims of people's preference for national brands and indifference.“

“Made to order deli sandwiches. I really enjoyed my Embarcadero chicken sandwich and chips combo. There was a huge line so I scanned the QR code and ordered online. My food was ready well before the time it would have taken for me to get to the front of the line.

A work colleague and I dropped in here for breakfast on a whim, and oh boy, I wish I knew of it sooner.
I'm from the UK, so as soon as I walked through the doors, the decor was fabulous and gave me that american diner feel.
The staff were super, and the food was out of this world. I HIGHLY recommend the lemon blueberry pancakes.. I dream of them. The breakfast egg sandwich was the best I've ever eaten, fresh ingredients made with love and care.

The restaurant was light, airy and super clean. The bathrooms were even decorated beautifully and had fresh boquets of flowers.

Every part of the experience was thought through by the owners. The bill even came in a winnie the pooh book! So cute!!! 1000% recommend a visit here, you will not be disappointed and if I am ever lucky y enough to be in tebatea again I certainly will be making a stop.“

“Finally ate here for the first time a couple of days ago. Pancakes are on the thinner side, which actually gives it some crisp, and it's tasty. Ben's Special was good also, especially with their homemade hot sauce. Extra bonus points for the amazing bobblehead collection display.

Overall, this side of the peninsula has some really good diner spots.“

I had the mushroom empanadas, sliders, and a local beer—they all hit the spot. Chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and solid bar food. Definitely a gem if you’re in the area.“

“I've been staying and working in South San Francisco this week without a car. Have dined there for lunch 2 days in a row now, and both days I also brought back dinner to my hotel for the evening. Everything has been delicious with fresh ingredients. Really creative and elevated offerings for a quick service restaurant. The salmon was especially amazing! I had 2 really dismal experiences earlier in the week with Doordash and only wish I had tried Foundry & Lux sooner. I'll be back tomorrow before heading back home on Saturday 😀“

“Here on vacation, saw the reviews of this place, and so glad we stopped by to try. It's take out only, owned and operated by a nice couple. Family of 4 was only $58. The food was hot, tasty, and enough of a portion size to fill you up. We will definately come back next time we are in town.“

“Very nice property. Our flight was super delayed so we arrived in the middle of the night but front desk staff person was extremely cordial. Our room was comfortable and clean. We were able to make use of the (free) airport shuttle the next morning which was efficient and helpful.“

The buffalo wings is not soggy and it’s cooked the way wings should be cooked.
Ask for extra buffalo sauce.

“As a vegetarian choosing a dinner meal I opted for the Roasted carrots salad and quinoa pilaf. Looks were deceiving because they didn’t seem like much, other than just some carrots with fresh greens and quinoa and mushrooms with grated parmesan on top. However, I was pleasantly surprised that both dishes were more than ordinary; very fresh and delicious. I’m also glad that I made the last minute decision to order the salad as well for some extra greens to accompany my dinner. Sometimes it’s challenging as a vegetarian eating out, but these were a great pair for a well rounded meal with whole fresh ingredients.

Also to note; the quinoa pilaf description said it had pine nuts and pesto. This dish was very heavy on the mushrooms and I did not taste any pesto nor come across any pine nuts. It was delicious though and I felt better about it not having pesto, as pesto has a very high fat content.“

“My son took me here for lunch - we’d been meaning to try it. We were very pleased - amazing view with tiered tables so other guests aren’t blocking the view. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious and nicely presented. As a nice addition, there was a pianist playing while we dined which added to the ambience. You want a REAL fresh cooked hamburger and cooked to your likes, Peter's is the place. I've eaten hamburgers in alot of restaurants. No one and I mean no one makes a hamburger that comes anywhere close to Peter's hamburger! I can't make a hamburger that good in my own kitchen and believe me I've tried. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Great place to have breakfast or lunch with a friend and not be rushed. Peter and his staff makes sure each customer feels special. “I've been dining at this restaurant for club events for several years. Our club receives a varied menu: prime rib, Chicken Cordon Bleu, salmon or surf and turf. The price of our meals include wine, hors d'oeuvres, dessert and gratuity. That's pretty reasonable given today's expensive eateries. The staff is friendly, personable and professional. Food is prepared quickly and efficiently. I recommend this restaurant for small parties/groups. 😊“

“Best place to get one sandwich for two people. Custom made fresh at the deli or at the kitchen enjoy hot sandwich, Hamburgers or a simple salad, sodas, beer, & Draft beer available. Just be sure & bring a good appetite or you will be walking out with leftovers. The kitchen is open M-F till 2pm. The deli is open M-S till 3? There are tables to sit & enjoy the food & watch a game on tv. Darby Dan's is wheelchair accessible. There is free parking lot or street parking.“

“We were pleasantly surprised with this place. There is a nice variety of foods available here. The overall ambiance is nice, with several somewhat private places to conduct business meeting. There is a pool table and other tabletop shuffle board. Service was great. Orders can be placed at any number of touchscreen kiosks. When your order is ready you will get a text. Sit anywhere. We definitely need to explore having our admin meeting here next time. Definitely will be back.“

“The super duper burger (I added cheese and bacon) was delicious. Juicy and fresh. The garlic parm fries weren’t that great IMO, but maybe the regular fries are better. But I’d still give them 5 stars because the burger was so tasty. Service was fast and friendly too.“
