The atmosphere is comfortable and our family of 6 was able to eat a decent meal here for less than it would've cost to purchase a united lounge access pass for the 2 kids who didn't qualify. This pic is what was leftover. We only ordered 5 meals for 6 of us and we still couldn't eat everything.“

“Such a gem of a place! Everything here is scrumptious from the ricotta pancakes to the chilaquiles to the French toast to the eggs Benedict! Wish my stomach was bigger so I could eat seconds. Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. They even welcomed my dog. Love this place!“

“I'm a sucker for old-fashioned diners, the ones that seem stuck in time, stubbornly holding on to nostalgia when it was king in its glory days, back before chain restaurants and cookie-cutter decor and brands.

They hold a special allure when you're traveling down the byways where they still thrive, but they're especially precious when you find them in urban areas where they compete with fast-food conglomerates.

So I don't take places like Gunter's for granted, an old establishment (South San Francisco) in the midst of urban blandness of homogeneity. They're still places where old men gather swapping tall tales and spar politics over Farmer Brothers coffee brand to while their time away.

This genre seems to be a fleeting gem of Americana as I see many of them boarded up and closed down even along the blue highways. So in your travels, take a moment to patronize these places before too many of them disappear as victims of people's preference for national brands and indifference.“

“Made to order deli sandwiches. I really enjoyed my Embarcadero chicken sandwich and chips combo. There was a huge line so I scanned the QR code and ordered online. My food was ready well before the time it would have taken for me to get to the front of the line.

“Had the best birthday celebration at Navio. It was all of our favorite meal of the year so far. I love that they don't do a buffet but that they serve you the many different dishes. Great to come here with 4 or more people so that you can enjoy many of the dishes. The best was the food, but also the service from Jeff and Sonia and the other servers working our table that day. We felt so special dining at Navio. Also the view from this dining room is spectacular. What a treat!“

“Stopped by The Anecdote at Oyster Point for some drinks and bites after work—great spot! The bar has a cool vibe with awesome bay views. “I've been staying and working in South San Francisco this week without a car. Have dined there for lunch 2 days in a row now, and both days I also brought back dinner to my hotel for the evening. Everything has been delicious with fresh ingredients. Really creative and elevated offerings for a quick service restaurant. The salmon was especially amazing! I had 2 really dismal experiences earlier in the week with Doordash and only wish I had tried Foundry & Lux sooner. I'll be back tomorrow before heading back home on Saturday 😀“

“Here on vacation, saw the reviews of this place, and so glad we stopped by to try. It's take out only, owned and operated by a nice couple. Family of 4 was only $58. The food was hot, tasty, and enough of a portion size to fill you up. We will definately come back next time we are in town.“

“Very nice property. Our flight was super delayed so we arrived in the middle of the night but front desk staff person was extremely cordial. Our room was comfortable and clean. We were able to make use of the (free) airport shuttle the next morning which was efficient and helpful.“

“My son took me here for lunch - we’d been meaning to try it. We were very pleased - amazing view with tiered tables so other guests aren’t blocking the view. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious and nicely presented. As a nice addition, there was a pianist playing while we dined which added to the ambience. We will come back because it was such a nice treat. One of those places that makes me love living in California!“

“This restaurant has it all. The food is outstanding. If you want pancakes that remind you of the pancakes that were so delicious and cooked to perfection by your Mom, Peter's is the place to go. You want a REAL fresh cooked hamburger and cooked to your likes, Peter's is the place. I've eaten hamburgers in alot of restaurants. No one and I mean no one makes a hamburger that comes anywhere close to Peter's hamburger! I can't make a hamburger that good in my own kitchen and believe me I've tried. The price of our meals include wine, hors d'oeuvres, dessert and gratuity. That's pretty reasonable given today's expensive eateries. The staff is friendly, personable and professional. Food is prepared quickly and efficiently. I recommend this restaurant for small parties/groups. 😊“

“Breaker’s is a great comfortable place to get a broad variety of “comfort food” at a reasonable price. Staff are very welcoming and attentive. Portions are definitely biased towards large. Our favorites are Crab Panini, Patty Melt, and Monte Christo. Definitely an affordable casual good quality restaurant close to picturesque scenery with numerous hiking trails.“

“Best place to get one sandwich for two people. Custom made fresh at the deli or at the kitchen enjoy hot sandwich, Hamburgers or a simple salad, sodas, beer, & Draft beer available. Just be sure & bring a good appetite or you will be walking out with leftovers. The kitchen is open M-F till 2pm. The deli is open M-S till 3? There are tables to sit & enjoy the food & watch a game on tv. Darby Dan's is wheelchair accessible. There is free parking lot or street parking.“

“We were pleasantly surprised with this place. There is a nice variety of foods available here. The overall ambiance is nice, with several somewhat private places to conduct business meeting. There is a pool table and other tabletop shuffle board. Service was great. Orders can be placed at any number of touchscreen kiosks. When your order is ready you will get a text. Sit anywhere. We definitely need to explore having our admin meeting here next time. Definitely will be back.“

“The super duper burger (I added cheese and bacon) was delicious. Juicy and fresh. The garlic parm fries weren’t that great IMO, but maybe the regular fries are better. But I’d still give them 5 stars because the burger was so tasty. Service was fast and friendly too.“

“I've been to a couple Shari's locations, mostly up in the northern parts of California and have always had a positive experience and impression. This particular spot was no different and in fact, have not enjoyed a Shari's more than this one location.

The premises are great, yeah, a bit dated, but clean and the views from here are spectacular. It is an easy on & off place from the freeway in a not too congested part of town.

The service was spot on and the food that me and my buddy had was good. Seriously, there was nothing to complain about. And so to those who expected more from a chain restaurant, I don't know what you were envisioning, but I think you'd have to recalibrate your expectations.

These folks did a great job with our food, efficient service and providing a good atmosphere. I'd definitely put this place on my regular rotation now that my friend introduced me to it.
