“This place alone is worth the drive from LA to Ojai.A gorgeous eatery in the middle of downtown Ojai, The Dutchess welcomes you with open arms to its beautifully lit and meticulously decorated atmosphere. THE FOOD (I'm just going to jump to it) IS INCREDIBLE. The naan was to die for; the mussels were divine; The Pork Belly noodles had to have been my favorite... I mean, the glaze was impeccable; can't go wrong with the curry; but the Goat Masala IS A MUST. Oh- and don't pass up on dessert. The Lime Pie was incredible, but you HAVE to get the Brulee Pie and the Sticky Rice Donuts. You'll thank me later.“

“I always love a stay at the Ojai Valley Inn!! I usually come with my husband and kids. When we visit we love the kids pool, kids club, tennis courts, bike rental and driving range. Along with the fabulous restaurants where we can see them running around while we eat. All the rooms we’ve stayed in have always been large and amazing. This trip I brought my mom and sister for their birthdays. I booked it through American Express Fine Hotels. This gave us $70 towards breakfast everyday, $100 hotel credit, chocolates in the room, 4PM checkout and a room upgrade if available. When we arrived they said they were fully booked and could not offer a room upgrade. I have always been it great rooms and expected the basic room to be the same. Unfortunately it wasn’t. It was small, had a small balcony with only 2 chairs- there were three of us, and a view of dirt. I’m not one to complain but we were there to celebrate my mom’s and sister’s birthday so I asked if we could be moved to a room that could at least have room for all 3 of us in the balcony. They were able to find a room in Shangrila and it was great. Beautiful views of the surrounding hills and a huge balcony with loungers and a table with 4 chairs. Thank you to the manager that switched our room!!! We enjoyed all the amenities at the Inn. Delicious food at the Oak and great with gluten allergy. - the night hostess and front manager were rude but everything else wonderful. We used the fitness area and attended yoga and water Pilates which we loved. We went to the artist cottage and made succulents. Really enjoyed the artist cottage happy hour with a glass of wine and potpourri. Adult pool was super relaxing and service there was excellent. As with every time I leave there I can’t wait to go back. It is an amazing resort with excellent service.“

“The Ojai Valley Deli Cafe is an amazing place to eat and even more incredible as a caterer. We eat there frequently, take out just as often, and recently hired them to cater a house concert and our 70+ guest raved about the food. They are SO professional in every way! They really care and it shows in their execution and in the quality of every dish they serve. I could not recommend them more highly!“

“Excellent staff, excellent food, and excellent ambiance. Really can't go wrong with this spot. They gave us great recommendations for our first visit to Ojai and to this restaurant. We got the chips with guacamole and salsa, peach iced tea, huarache, and the tamale. Everything was great portion size and the food tasted so fresh and filling. We also got the peanut butter and oatmeal cookies, both were good but a very coconut taste (which I'm not a fan of but if you are then these are your cookies!!). Definitely would return on my next visit to Ojai.“

“Original Post (12/28/23): I went there in the fall. A friend drove me from Santa Barbara to Ojai specifically to go to Cafe Boku to try their vegan Reuben sandwiches. I really like vegan Reubens and was hoping to try theirs. We arrived a few minutes after 3 - and although their web site stated that they were open until 5, the cashier told us that the kitchen closed at 3! We had to go to Hip instead, which I really did not want to do. They will get a chance to redeem themselves today, as I am once again going to try to eat at the restaurant. However, this time I called ahead - and although the message on their answering system stated that they were open until 5 - I chose to speak directly to someone there, and once again was told that they will close at 3. This time we will get there before 3, and I hope to be able to update this review with a more favorable.one. UPDATE (1/8/24): We returned on Thursday, 12/28/23. I was hoping to be able to state that their phone message and web site reflected their current hours. However, as of last night the phone message still claims that they are open until 5 - which is incorrect, the sign in their door shows a closing time of 3 for all open days. The web site shows 3 for most days, and 4 for a few. I would strongly suggest calling and talking to a person before going. This time we got to try their food. We both ordered the mushroom Reuben. It was a very good mushroom sandwich, but did not taste very much like a Reuben. My friend and I also both wished that the sandwiches had more filling (mushrooms and sauerkraut). The bread was sour dough - not pumpernickel - but it was a very good sourdough. I would order it again, but I would like to try other items on their menu. Unfortunately, the items that I am most interested in trying (the flat bread and the soup) are currently not available. The service was excellent - and we were even comped a part of our to go order to help make up for the disastrous first visit. We were also told that they are now completely vegan - so I can give them more than 3 stars. Updated from previous review on 2024-01-08“

“The best thing about Bonnie Lu's is Bonnie Lu - or someone who could have been her - she was kind of all over the place greeting people, serving up coffee, etc. She was effervescent. Our servers were also attentive and great.I felt like our meals were only okay. I had Dennis's Country Combo. The gravy on my biscuits and gravy was barely warm and the biscuit was doughy, tho the hash browns were hot and very crunchy, just the way I like them. My companion's eggs were cooked incorrectly which, if you're a breakfast place, I feel you should get right every single time.“
