“The burgers were amazing- so tender and juicy for a default medium/medium well burger! The fried chicken sandwich was also so juicy and yet crispy, in fact I think my friend and I both preferred that, please don’t tell the owners! Just kidding..but it was great. Very light batter, but just enough crunch. The mochi waffle was yummy, and the combo of hot waffle and cold ice cream was uber-comforting. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a simple but extremely well thought-out meal.“

“I’ve been coming to Ohshima for years, and even with the change in ownership, the quality has stayed impressively consistent. The jukusei sushi is really well done, the shari well-seasoned and balanced. Their yellowtail carpaccio is a standout, and the kizami wasabi adds a nice kick (it feels housemade) —definitely worth trying. Still one of the most reliable sushi spots in OC“

“This place has quickly become one of our top sushi spots! We can't get enough of the hamachi toro, bluefin toro, and wagyu nigiri. Each bite is melt-in-your-mouth perfection. As for rolls, the Dragon and Waikiki are always a must, with a perfect balance of flavors and freshness.

What really stands out is the incredible value. The quality of the fish is outstanding for the price. The owners are genuinely friendly, always greeting us with a smile and making us feel welcome. We go more than once a week, and every visit impresses us even more!“

Produce is fresh, lots of beers on tap. Only critisism is I wish they would change their chairs, they aren’t comfortable; the food is so good though it’s worth being uncomfortable!“

“I eat here at least once a month. I usually get a large poke bowl with half salad and brown rice, 3 salmons, and 2 tuna in sesami shoyu with everything except wasabi. Highly recommend for people craving a poke bowl! The owner is very kind and generous in servings.“

“Most wondrous sushi! My wife and I popped in last weekend. First time visiting. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. Our server was so polite and friendly. The chefs waved from behind the sushi bar. Our beer and sake were tasty and the sushi dishes were delicious and just the right size. “My cousins brought me here to celebrate my 25th birthday. I love shabu, and I have yet to try this spot out.

Parking: They're located in a medium sized plaza, and there's plenty of free parking.

Ambiance/Environment: It's very clean inside. There's a decent amount of seating. We visited on a Thursday night, so it wasn't too busy.

Service: Our server was efficient. We didn't catch her name, but she was knowledgable about the menu when we asked questions. Throughput was under 15 min after ordering. After receiving our orders, our server checked on us a couple times.

Soup & meats: My bf and I ordered the 'specials for 2' and went with the shared brisket set. The soup was decent; wasn't too salty. My favorite part were the briskets. It came with a generous amount of briskets. The toppings were also fresh. This special included beers and desserts.“

“I started coming here almost 20 years ago and I'm so glad they are still here! Both their beef and chicken are good, but I do prefer their beef. The taste and smell of it is very nostalgic. Their sushi is also good value, so there's something for everyone here.“

“First time coming here and sushi is pretty good quality. I opted for the spicy tonkotsu but was not spicy enough, but the pork chashu was pretty charred and tasty. I also ordered the yellowtail lover and tuna with lemon slices roll.

All rolls are 4 pieces which is nice because if you want to try many rolls vs just trying one roll. 4 pieces for under 10 dollars is such a good deal. People recommended me the sashimi salad or 2 other options that are big enough for 4 people with variety of fresh sashimi.“

“The sushi was amazingly ? fresh. The place was clean and the presentation was on point. I loved the quaint atmosphere. We had an appetizer of blue soft shell crab. The breading was a bit thick and the crab was rather moist. The flavors were good but I'm not sure I would order that if I went back. Only because the balance of bread to fish ratio was so so. I think this combination could have been pronounced better with a sauce. We also ordered some egg rolls but again, their sushi was so good, had I to do over again I would have saved all my stomach space for another roll instead of the appetizer. The sushi was 5 stars +, the egg rolls 3.5*, and the soft shell crab 3.5. The mango tango roll had so many flavors going on I did not even want to use the soy sauce as it may overpowered all of the other delicate flavors happening within the roll. Same with the crazy monkey, loved the cashews and sauces and did not want to overpower the delicate flavors with soy sauce. The service was attentive to all of our needs. We also had Yuki Sake and that was delicious with a slightly sweet taste but not overwhelming. I would go back there in a heartbeat for their sushi and service.Rolls: Mango Tango, Crazy Monkey

“We love this place! Delicious, fresh Asian cuisine, made to order, exactly how you want it! We love the teriyaki beef with noodles and the cream cheese wontons are my favorite, better than anywhere else!

Main Place Mall is thriving and it's really nice to see mall culture alive and well!

“Went late last night (about 40 minutes before closing). I was informed by Mike at the register that there was only enough teriyaki chicken for one regular bowl. Of course, I went there to purchase like 3 large bowls and 1 regular bowl full of teriyaki chicken. Never fear, Mike and Freddy, the shift manager, cooked some more chicken just for me and made my family’s night. Thank you guys for the awesome customer service. Also, the environment in there was super chill!“

“Overall solid value for the price and although the sauces lacked flavor I will say the beef was smoky and tasty! The spicy pork wasn’t bad, I felt the plate portions were ok for the price. If the sauces got a bit better flavor and less vinegary for the spicy one I would’ve been more pleased. But it’s a great atmosphere and awesome friendly service. Easy to do for a quick lunch!“

Affordable, and as a person who has chronic stomach issues, this did not give me a stomach ache, make me feel bloated or sick later. The food had lots of flavor and the veggies too sometimes veggies are dry & mid not here.

“I truly believe this place is a hidden gem. The employees are so kind and welcoming. I have tried the chicken, jalapeño chicken and the beef bowl. All of these choices are great but the beef is in league of its own. It’s healthy, tasty, and well cooked. They managed to make quick and delicious food without the cheap way of covering the food in sugar. I would strongly recommend coming here and giving their food a try!“

“I've been to this sushi bar a few times, they never disappoint. I like that they have plenty of options with no crab meat, and I like their yellowtail rolls. The amount of fish in the rolls is generous, and the size of a portion is big. The second set of the rolls is 50% off before 3 pm (not sure if that works everyday or just weekends)“

“KAI Sushi is an amazing restaurant. We love going to family owned businesses and supporting them. We were in Orange County and wanted sushi and found KAI. We live an hour away and will definitely be going back. The place is very clean and looks like they just opened yesterday after 16 years in business. My son even made a little friend with the owner’s granddaughter while we were eating. Thank you for the amazing food and great service. We look forward to our next visit!“
