“Edit! I found the other two pieces of Sashimi buried under the onions. I will say that the Sashimi is very fresh and all of the food is of high quality. I just wish the slices were a little thicker.

I tried this restaurant out for a lunch to treat myself. They had a Sashimi lunch combo that is supposed to come with eight pieces of sashimi and your choice of a California roll or spicy tuna roll for $23. More than I would normally spend on a lunch, but I was hoping it would be worth it. Sadly the slices of Sashimi were really thin and they only gave me 6 instead of 8! This treat ended up being more like a trick. Sadly disappointing“

“The quality for being ayce is pretty darn good. All the rolls are tasty and there is a really good variety. The reason I decided to write a review though? Ruben. We have had him as a server a few times now and he is one of the best servers my husband and I have had. Even while cooking all the hot plates for a large family that came in today due to a BOH chef running a little late he was still making sure to check on us and the other table across the restaurant at times literally running to tend to all of us. He's truly a grade a server and seems so genuine. Thanks Ruben!“

Taberu Sushi was absolutely incredible. This is a family-run restaurant where you can immediately tell how much pride and care goes into the food.

We ordered the 16-piece Sashimi Box, which included bluefin tuna, cherry salmon, kanpachi, kuro dai, shima aji, toro, snapper, clam, mackerel and amberfish. Everything was unbelievably fresh and beautifully presented. The quality of the fish really stood out.

We learned that the chef is extremely particular about his fish. If something comes in from a vendor and isn't up to his standards, he sends it back. He also doesn't cut the fish until you actually order it. After eating here, you understand why. The texture, temperature and freshness were on another level.

We also had the scallops topped with uni and caviar 🤤, which were amazing, and the tuna toast was so simple but SO good. Honestly, there wasn't one thing we wouldn't order again.

Lynn, the owner, was gracious and wonderful, she made us feel so welcome. Derek was our server and was equally wonderful and attentive. You really feel the warmth of a family-run restaurant here.

“Went for my birthday and i am more than pleased. The food, service and resturant was all amazing. There were options for all people who may have diet restrictions. My 7 year old had a great time with the chicken wings and the octopus and shrimp sushi. The ramen was super good and the eel was amazing have 0 complaints and i will be returning here very soon as often as i can!“

This was the place nearest to us that the ramen pics looked appealing. I have to say the ramen here was amazing. It tasted almost the same to the ramen we tried in our trip to Tokyo. “I live nearby and would like to support this Bar 100%. Staff and food quality and cleanliness are equally excellent. Have been going to this bar for more than 5YRs. Also, the location and the next-door wonderful restaurants are attractive to hang out.
This review is to suggest a few things that might attract more traffic: providing options of peanut-sauces (I loved the P. sauce from California Shabu Shabu but chose this Bar to support the business), installing the led-blinking light with a design for the interior wall and wrap around the bar. “Amazing experience. At first I was wary when I realized the restaurant was in an older hotel next door to Disneyland but I admit I was absolutely wrong. The restaurant was good enough to be one you could find in any five star resort or Michelin guide. The service was absolutely amazing. The entire staff was welcoming and extra nice to us. The chef was from Japan and had fifty years experience as a sushi chef in Japan. The food was amazing and I can’t state that enough. It was to die for. “Oh man where to begin! This place is a hidden gem that I was recently taken to. Ever since going my first time about a month ago, I’ve been back 5 times! The bluefin nigiri is probably the best nigiri I’ve had in Orange County (The bluefin keeps us coming back week after week). If I were to recommend anything, it would have to be the bluefin. The yellowtail and salmon nigiri are just as amazing. You can’t go wrong with anything here—the fish is incredibly fresh and flavorful, and each roll and nigiri is so unique in its own way and flavor profile. They are also incredibly generous with portion size and price! We love sitting at the bar because it makes the experience so much better!

Apart from the food, what also keeps me keeping back is the amazing hospitality and service! Whenever we walk in, we are greeted by the entire staff—the sushi chefs, hosts, and servers. The staff take great pride in ensuring that guests are taken care of, and they genuinely enjoy getting to know their guests on a personal and grounded level. A special mention to Torrance, Jay, and Robbin (The sushi chefs) who consistently put out amazing nigiri and rolls for us! “Total hidden gem honestly kinda glad it hasn't blown up yet but I want them to stick around so I'm leaving an honest review.
Their sushi is amazing clean enough that I trust feeding my wife her salmon and scallop sushi cravings from this spot.
By far though the must try item is their jumbo Scallop it is soooooo gooood.
They have an all you can eat menu but I lay extra to order more of that scallop.
I also just found out they started a new promotion, free roll with x amount spent for example $20 gets you a California roll and $30 gets you a crunchy roll and 2 more tiers.

The sushi chef was so nice he snuck in an extra salmon sushi in my togo order today I hear he was the original shop owner, sold it went to japan to work more in the industry and came back and bought it back, or something along those lines from other people's reviews. May or may not be true but doesn't an amazing hole in the wall deserve that kind of romantic story?

“It's pricey but that's because the quality is that good. The food was amazing and the chef was a real good host(they cook in front of you). He was very friendly and entertaining even cracking jokes. And on top of that he had an animatronic ratatouille in his hat! So the kids were entertained too. Went for a birthday and the service and overall experience was above and beyond“

“This place is GREAT! Not OK, not good… GREAT! I’ve been to all the teriyaki spots up and down Whittier Blvd, and you simply aren’t going to get a better deal than this. Very fair prices for very large portions, but which always means very happy customers.

Customer service is excellent, they have a soda fountain with Coke products (and cans for other brands), a few tables inside so good for a quick lunch/dinner or takeout.

This place is an absolute no-brainer for simple, great Japanese food. If you’ve never been, you need to come, and if you have been, you need to come back. Skip the Flame Broiler’s and Panda Expresses and be happy that you came here instead.“

“This is such an amazing restaurant! I first came here in 2024, but I left LA for a while and hadn’t been back in a long time. When I decided to come again today, I was honestly a little worried. Two years had passed, and I wondered if the food would still be as good as I remembered, or if the fish would still be as fresh. Thankfully, my worries were completely unnecessary!

I ordered a similar combo to what I had two years ago. The price has gone up a little, but honestly, I think that’s completely reasonable given how much the cost of everything has increased. My friend initially thought it was a little expensive, but once the food started coming out, he completely changed his mind and said the meal was absolutely worth it.

We ordered the $90-per-person combo, and it was SO much food. Every time we thought the meal was finished, the owner would come out with another dish! The lobster was unbelievably fresh—you could actually see its antennae still moving when it arrived at our table. At the end, they took the lobster head and claws to make soup for us, and the soup was delicious.

The uni rice was just as amazing as I remembered it, and the grilled salmon head was another highlight. It was incredibly fatty, rich, and flavorful. You can really tell they use high-quality salmon. My friend even joked that the salmon must never have exercised in the ocean because it was THAT fatty 😂

The staff are Korean, and they were incredibly kind and attentive. I asked the owner if I could take some of their barley tea home because I really liked it. They didn’t have any disposable cups available at the time, but the owner actually went out of his way to give me a cup and poured some barley tea for me to take home. I really appreciated that small gesture!

We also had some sashimi left over, and when they packed it for us, they even included an ice pack to keep it fresh.

Overall, this is absolutely a restaurant that gives you way more than what you pay for. The food was incredibly fresh, the portions were generous, and the service was wonderful. Most importantly, this restaurant genuinely made my night. I will definitely be coming back again! ❤

“Ultramen is easily one of my top 3 go-to spots for Japanese food. I usually get their rolls and Japanese ramen, and honestly, everything I’ve tried here has been delicious.

What I really like about this place is the value. The prices are really affordable for the portion sizes, quality, and taste you get. You can have a really satisfying meal without spending too much.
