“This place is awesome and hidden away! We never noticed it. I almost don't want to say too much about it because then it'll get full of people and we won't be able to get a table! The server was super nice, the coffee was great. the food was spectacular and free baklava came with our bill! Really best Levabese food I've had in a while. yum.“
“This was our third time back to Park Tavern after two mediocre experiences many years ago. Tried this during Alameda restaurant week 2024 and had a $40 & $60 prix fixe specials that included three courses which all four of us ordered. Definitely a great value. Salad, entrees and dessert appeared as normal portion sizes. Food was very good. My salmon was juicy and could use a little salt. But better under salted than too salty like most restaurants. We will come back again and this to our dining rotations. Service was good. Place was surprisingly packed.“
“I don't know why it took us so long to get dinner here but I'm glad we finally did. The food was delicious and service was warm. Ala Med is a Turkish restaurant but given the broader mediterranean influence, I think people will find a lot of familiar items here. Our table ordered various items:Istanbul trio: Both hummus and haydari were good but I loved the muhammara - this version gave equal importance to both the walnuts and the red peppers and was well balanced with a slight kick from some chili. Eggplant salad: so good, well seasoned, and refreshingManti: meat dumpling with yogurt and tomato sauce- everyone loved itImam fainted: vegetarian eggplant dish - flavorful, easy to eatButcher Kofte: I really liked the seasoning of the meat but didn't love the texture as the meat seemed to be really finely ground but that is a personal preference. I did enjoy the rice and chickpea salad it came with. For dessert there was rice pudding(good) and baklava(average). I liked that everyone got a small cup of tea to finish off the meal.“
“Ordered hunkar beyendi, Turkish coffee, and pistachio cake. Hunkar was good, they made the eggplant into a cheese like substance that worked well with the rice. Standout was the cake, delicious! Not too sweet, great with the cream foam on the side. Coffee was like 2 sips and it was gone.“
“We ate here for dinner and the food was very good. The restaurant is small and cozy, and the seating was comfortable. We had the falafel plate and the Alexander's favorite house special. Both plates were filling and we left happy. They have complementary tea and water.“
“Really cute vibes here. Definitely a place to visit with a group of girlfriends if you can afford it. It's pricey. The food was very good. Light, healthy, and artfully presented. They even have a flaming cheese dish! The portions are delicate. Great for me cause I'm not a big eater, but if you're looking for value... you're not going to leave with a lot left in your pocket. This is a special occasion spot.“
“An Amtrak layover for me. First time in this city. A lady at the Chamber of Commerce recommended it to me. Walking distance from the train station. I had the large Gyros. The meat was seasoned wonderfully. Yet, that beautiful meat taste was overcome by excessive lettuce. Thereby, not having as much meat as other places. When I go back I will take off the majority of the lettuce, but I still take issue with the lack of a good quantity of meat. The first picture is after I cut it in half. Another patron had the Greek fries which looked wonderful. I will go back and try them with another dish, but as far as the Gyros, not enough meat for the price. But let me state clearly...what meat was present was absolutely wonderfully tasty.“
“I consider myself lucky to have been a patron of this place for past 5+ years, and can't say enough about how amazing The Mediterranean is, from top to bottom. Always friendly and attentive service, food is hot, fresh, and made to order every visit. Even at its busiest, the tables are clean and comfortable. One of the best places to eat in Concord, and I always look forward to my next visit.“
“Well , to start off I do believe I was the first of the day, so you guys really need to clean the grill a lot better !!! the meat tastes burnt!!! other than that the flavors were there , the pickle the lettuce, yogurt sauce, the dill. The pitas were perfect 10 outta 10 . WAYY SMALL PORTIONS!!! S SIGN OF THE TIMES I GUESS...“
“I was here last Sunday and got the rack of lamb and a glass of wine. The lamb was overcooked, the vegis were raw, and the garlic mashed potatoes were absolutely awful(no flavor, no substance like instant box potatoes). I didnt hate my meal and I'd love to come back, but for the price point I'd like a better attention to quality. I dinged down the atmosphere because a plastic tent is kind of a turnoff. The server that night was spectacular.“
“We love dining at Troy on Solano. So much that we knew exactly who to contact to cater our event (30 peopke). Gyros, Pastitsio, Moussaka, Greek rice...all a were crowd pleasers. Hassam and the team at Troy were helpful, professional & courteous. Thank you for contributing to a joyous celebration.“
“Love this restaurant, the food is great. Service is sometime slow but it's worth waiting for. But only Dine In. I'm really, really disappointed that they now have all deliveries come from someplace in Berkeley because that's about a 2 star experience. I won't be ordering delivery again.“
“Hummus was amazing, high quality ingredients and great value in a time when Macdonald’s tries to charge the same for literal processed garbage. My new fav spot! Can’t wait to try everythingMeat was on the dry side and not as juicy as simply Greek (that sadly closed down) but the whole combo was still good. Would be awesome if the meat was better grilled“
“It's by Gypsy's and Kingpin Donuts, as Google Maps kinda hides this gem.Hella good Mediterranean late spot in the Berkeley 'ghetto'! Made quick, but it ain't fast food, with the meat cooked proper, the right proportion of veggies, hummus, falafel, and sauce. The right amount of spice, both herbal and hot, the amount to where I taste everything without being hot bombed. How I did this order was getting a veggie wrap, added lamb and white sauce, so that's cucumber, lettuce, tomato, onion, herbs, falafel, hummus, tahini, peppers, feta in a wrap It's the right move too. Made with that authentic Middle East love and care. This and Gypsy's are my favorite spots in Durant Ave ghetto, which is the best spot for late food in the Bay.“
“As a vegetarian, I gravitated toward ordering the falafel bowl. It was a delicious combination of texture and wonderful sauces! The biggest issue I have with falafels is they are often overcooked and very dry. Nick the Greek does a great job mitigating this issue with delicious and tangy sauces. The rice was also cooked well, good portions, and a nice mix of greens. I didn't feel weighed down after eating this bowl. This is a great place for a quick casual lunch, especially if you're on the go! I am looking forward to my next falafel bowl.“
“We love Petra! My wife and I have eaten here several times and here's what we have enjoyed: stuffed grape leaves, and every wrap that we have ordered (yes, every one!), including roasted eggplant, chicken gyros, Athenian, chicken souvlaki, and the chicken shawerma. My only complaint is that I have nothing to complain about because complaining usually leads to a funnier review. The service is great and the staff is always friendly. Lucky for my wife and I, one of our daughters, son-in-laws, and granddaughters live in Orinda. Petra is our go to spot when we're doing what we love to do the most: helping one of our children! (If I can't be funny, I'm going to be sentimental) Pick up your next meal at Petra; it deserves community support!“
