“With prices going up, this is still a local staple at 6 something a sandwich. He packs my Bacon Bahn Mi with a good amount of meat! No cutting corners here :)

When I used to work in the area, I'd get their lunch plates they have wrapped up in the open fridge. Viet BBQ Chicken, Fried Egg Roll, and rice noodles are my go-to.

They also serve noodle soup, which a friend of mine way back said tasted like her mom's, very good; Chicken Pho.

“Can’t decide between egg rolls or spring rolls? Enter the Cha Gio Cuon…egg roll in spring roll. GENIUS! My companions had the chicken soup and fish banh mi, both also excellent. Their broth is super flavorful and the price is right. Owner and crew are very attentive.
The restaurant is beautiful with modern murals of Bay Area life, but eating near sundown was quite unpleasant in almost all tables due to west facing sun. Simple drapes/blinds would help.“

“I went here after work! I was famished! I was so happy w how cute their decorations are! The music was lovely! Sauces chili oil so good! And i cant believe they have Banh Khot! As its a bit labor intensive. Ive only had it at Tayho. Well this is their mamas recipe! Its a crispy coconut crepe w shrimp. They gave me fancy butter lettuce shiso and mint wraps for each one! I feel so pampered! Its now my favorite order! Noodle soup too is perfect for winter rainy days. Parking is a lot and super convenient location! Thx so much for feeding this famished lady. ?

“Super friendly staff and generous portions! I got the spring rolls with tofu and avocado added and my parter got the tofu and mushroom banh mi (with avocado instead of mayo, since we're both vegan.) Both very delicious. Also wanted to try the spicy seitan sandwich but didn't see it as an option until later – next time!

“First time here based on recommendation from a friend.

Hu Tieu Kho was delicious! Reminds me of the savory dry wonton noodles except that there’s no wonton but there are quail eggs, fried pork skin, slices of pork, shrimp and pork giblets. Together with the beef soup, it hit the spot on a cold day.

Cha Gio was crispy, and the filling was tasty. Some places have fried spring rolls that are on the mushy end and that tends to be very oily. But not here.

Com Tam (broken rice) plate was yummy. The pork chop was tender and flavorful. The steam pork egg was excellent - many places serve this too but they tend to be dry. But it was juicy, tender and full of flavor here.

Only thing that we didn’t like here was their slice steak pho. It may be personal preference as the soup had a strong taste of a spice or herb that we are not used to and so it threw us off from the usual pho.

Will be back for more Hu Tieu Kho, Cha Gio and Com Tam.

“I’m sad that I have just found this spot and was missing out for so long. The sandwiches are huge and heavy (I normally split my sandwich). I would recommend calling in your order, as it normally takes 20 mins to make.

“Food is delicious and prices are reasonable. But BE WARNED that the website for this restaurant is maintained by a third party (Simplemenu) that adds 15-20% to the price for each menu item for pickup and delivery orders. This upcharge is not separately identified or disclosed on the website. I pointed out this issue when picking up my online order. The cashier shrugged, was aware of the price difference, and explained that they don't run their own website. Try calling instead to get the actual menu price - although it's very hard to get anyone to answer the phone.“

“Staying at the Claremont this week, found this little hidden gem and it is amazing. I call it hidden because even though I could see it on the map I'm bad at navigation and had a hard time finding it.

I only got the original sandwich as I have never had one before. It was absolutely amazing and I hope to stop by again before leaving. Their menu prices seem unheard of in this area and they were slammed busy when I went for lunch. They did move fast though.“

“Their pho combo is great for introducing someone to tripe and tendons or for converting someone that typically hates it. It seems cleaner there or that they trim off the less enjoyable parts. The soup is aromatic, not greasy and clear.

The broth on my BBH and my husband’s pho were light but flavorful!Didn’t realize we over-ordered for 2 people until our dishes arrived. The servings were definitely good for sharing. “Went tonight for the first time with my family after the tree lighting and it was a great experience. Music was soft, place was busy but not overcrowded, all the people were nice patrons and staff, and the food was good. I personally enjoyed the beef stew noodle soup dish and will definitely be back for more of that for sure.

Kid-friendliness: My wife and my two young children and myself attended. There were other families with young children we got to meet and greet throughout our dining experience and the staff incredibly kind and nice to our family especially our babies.“

I had their Special Combo - Pho Dac Biet, which includes rare steak, well-done flank, brisket, tendon, tripe, and meatball noodle soup. I like to get out and try new places but yet I always find myself coming back to VB2 for amazing food, drinks, staff, and atmosphere. It’s my favorite place to take friends that have never tried it. I like to get the special rare beef pho.The shaking beef plate might be my favorite when I want to be spoiled. It's basically a plate of big chunks of well-flavored meat (garlic, onion, salt, probably other flavors too). Love the sizzling sound it makes while it is served.The spring rolls are all really lovely, too. They have a lot of crispy textures stuffed into them.Most of the dishes are very flavorful. Some of them are also rich.Online ordering: I appreciate that Mint Leaf recently incorporated the ability to use Online Ordering through GrubHub and other platforms. I love being able to schedule a pick-up time. I used to order via telephone and would ask for extra jalapeños on the side, and they would sometimes be forgotten (totally okay!). Now that I am ordering online, though, there's a printed receipt that shows the request for extra jalapeños. It seems like this has been making it easier for the staff to ensure order quality. “We have loved this restaurant for over 20 years. The quality and flavor of the food is exceptional. My husband is Vietnamese and we have lived in Vietnam so we know what we're talking about. I love to order Bun Thit Nuong... which is marinated grilled pork over vermicelli rice noodles with fresh herbs and salad. My husband loves their soups. Today he Bun Ba Hue, which is a spicy beef soup from the Hue region of Vietnam with rice noodles.

This restaurant does not have an affiliation with the other one by the same name next to Lake Merritt.“

“We went when they opened at 4 pm on a Saturday after a show. Not only were they opened, but they seated us promptly. This is a nicely laid-out restaurant in the Rockridge area. They have a large vegan menu, and the food is authentic. I bit on the higher side but likely comparable to the neighborhood.

Vegetarian options: They have a large vegan selection with choices of "beef", "chicken", and "pork belly". You can't go wrong with any of them.“

Its a small spot, and mostly a grab and go for japanese inspired sandos, vietnamese noodle salads, and drinks like peach tea and green thai tea! There is also a small hot menu that is made to order at the front.

Egg salad sando was creamy and rich, peach tea refreshing, and green thai tea was a delicious treat.

“It was a late Saturday evening after a special event. I was kind of lost and wasn’t sure stopping for food was a good idea yet hunger had made a loud announcement while driving. A sudden frustration came upon me which forced me to turn off in an exit ramp and to search for grub. my usually goto place In-and-Out was super busy during this time. I saw the sign on a street and continued to head towards this Pho restaurant.

Service was excellent . The food came quite quickly. I ordered a pho noodle soup with beef and brisket and a side dish of shrimp wrap. Noodles were chewy with basil and bean sprout on the side. The side dish was the shrimp wrap with vegetables.

Overall, it was a quick meal with quick service. Prices were reasonable. Family came and ate at this restaurant as well.
