“Food is delicious and prices are reasonable. But BE WARNED that the website for this restaurant is maintained by a third party (Simplemenu) that adds 15-20% to the price for each menu item for pickup and delivery orders. This upcharge is not separately identified or disclosed on the website. I pointed out this issue when picking up my online order. The cashier shrugged, was aware of the price difference, and explained that they don't run their own website. Try calling instead to get the actual menu price - although it's very hard to get anyone to answer the phone.“
“First time here, celebrating my sister's birthday and it was like we were kicking it at a friend's house! I was able to make a reservation one day in advance for 7 people during peak dinner hours, and even called the same day to change our time with no issues whatsoever. They accommodated us right away and sat us even without my whole party present. Someone had called out, but we never even felt like service was slow or anything. This is a family owned and operated business, and we really felt like we were a part of that. Granted, we had quite a few shots, so alcohol tends to loosen up people but even without that, the whole staff were cool as heck. The food was delicious. Calamari (forgot to take a pic) was light and crunchy, served with cocktail and tartar sauces. The garlic noodles were super flavorful and stayed buttery. Some places tend to dry out and clump up, but not these! The seafood boils also had tons of flavor and spice. Medium was about as much as I could handle. Lol I think my absolute favorite dish was the Player's Plate. It comes with garlic noodles, 5 Tony's wings, 5 prawns and a huge catfish filet. Best bang for your buck, in my opinion. I would get that next time we go. And a special surprise was Tony's Style (Berkeley) was in the building. They were temporarily operating out of the space, so we had to get the shrimp and crab baguette. All that cheesy seafood goodness went perfect with our shots. Lolol Needless to say, we took home lots of leftovers. We had a blast, and I hope yall have a great experience too.“
“Honestly... giving this place a 5 stat because it is actually good, it is so big, and less than $5. Enough said..... The area is a bit sketch, but you won't be there for too long so it is okay! Come with a friend as parking can be hard. It can get pretty busy but they are fairly quick. I have never heard of anyone arodering a sanwich from here and being dissapointed. Our group recently orderd 1 pork, 1 tofu, 1 chicken, and everyone was satisfied.“
“Incredible food, everything on the menu was delicious and unique. I could eat the prawns all day and the crab fried rice was next level. My coworker ordered a little bit of everything and there wasn't a single thing that we had that I didn't love. I don't often give places 5 star reviews but this one is worth it, the only downside is maybe it's a little pricey but come here with a big group and split a bunch of plates and you will walk away full and for less than a fancy tasting menu. Also, apparently the $90 tasting menu is really good, so I'll be back again to try that :)“
“I've been hearing about how great the bánh mì's are here and this past weekend, I finally made time to try. We went on Sunday morning around 10am, and there was a short line. After ordering, it took maybe 10 minutes - not bad, since there were quite a few people waiting for their food. My partner and I ordered a beef bánh mì, and bánh mì xá xíu, both with a fried egg. Also got nước rau má and bánh giầy. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. We got to the car, and devoured the sandwiches in 5 minutes. Every thing was fantastic. Felt like I was reliving my childhood snacks. Will definitely be back!“
“Did't realize that this place was pretty much only takeout. There was one table inside, but it seemed that an employee was sitting there, althought unclear why when we would have welcomed the seat. Also, it was a bit odd that for spicy noodles (pho), it was $2 extra. Seems a bit steep. Prices are okay, but a bit on the higher side for amount of food you'll get. I do think it is good to support small businesses in Oakland and for that, I would come again. No photos yet, since it was takout and those don't look as nice to do photos of.“
“Cheap and fast, literally no frills! Love the cold cut and fish banh mi. The veggies are super fresh and crunchy and the sauce is the perfect amount. Used to come here a lot after yoga across the street, would just go in with my order and sun tan outside while I wait.“
“The barbecue pork with rice noodle and the ban xheo are very good.Just a small downside for the egg rolls. Inside it looks like a puree, maybe the mixed mushrooms, an unusual texture that doesn't excite me that much.Otherwise very friendly service, ordinary place, but we don't go there for that.“
“Whenever a place is cash only in San Francisco your taste radar should start to ping… Mộng Thu is one such cash only place. I haven’t had a Bahn Mi this good since living in Vancouver BC, and the puddings are an absolute must to finish off the meal. Cảm ơn!“
“Loved this place. Went for lunch today and was busy but was seated within 5 minutes. The food was fantastic and it was super easy to order and it came quickly. Ordered the coconut curry and was very flavorful, wish it had had a little more coconut flavor but overall very good!“
“We came to Darren's based on other reviews. We were pleasantly surprised to find they were accurate - the waitstaff is very polite and the service was great. The food was very good, so much so we went for breakfast both days we were in San Francisco, and the server remembered us on the second day - and what we ordered. Highly recommend. Also, as a side note, on our first day we watched as they handed out breakfast sandwiches to the disabled unhoused persons near their restaurant. It was good to see they also have a heart.“
“I’ve only tried the chicken bahn mi and their Thai iced tea. Both very yummy and I recommend the bahn mi.. but I have an issue with how much ice they give you in the Thai iced tea. You basically only get a half cup of the tea. I will show a picture of what the cup looks like with ice taken out. And this is after I asked for less ice.“
“Pho 2000 is a cute restaurant with two floors with kind and efficient service. I ordered pho dac biet (#1) small size and Thai iced tea. They also provide with hot tea when you first sit. The pho was okay. Everything was fine except that the broth wasn’t as strong as I wanted it to be. It was very mild which made it kind of hard to taste. I had to mix a bit of hoisin sauce into the broth to be able to taste it. The noodles were kind of overcooked and there wasn’t as much meat as I thought there would be. The Thai tea was delicious! Strong, sweet, and refreshing just how I like it. I had received both items in less than 10 minutes. This restaurant is a great lunch spot!“
“I am not Vegan and these are so good!!! I picked these up for my boyfriend's family who are vegan. The apple fritter was definitely my favorite, but they are all yummy. The girl working was very patient and friendly when helping me choose which ones to get. She also threw in some extra donut holes! The cinnamon one everyone raves about was sold out when I went around 11am. I'll definitely be back to bring them to the next family gathering. 10/10!!“
“Very tasty! Breakfast with grab and go option. The place is quite small, so there is not much space to eat in the establishment. The food is good, cheap and comes out quickly! We grabbed a bagel, a blueberry muffin, a cappuccino and a hot chocolate and went to eat at Union “
“It's quite busy here. The service is fast but you can order online in advance.Lemongrass chicken vermicelli (bun ga xa) was flavorful with sweet fish sauce.Turmeric catfish (cha ca la vong) was ok, not a lot of fish. It normally comes with fermented shrimp paste, which I believe is smelly so I ordered it with fish sauce instead.“
“The vegetarian bahn mi sandwiches were quite good and very affordable — $8.95 as of writing this. We also got some smoothies were good. The curry tofu sandwich was our favorite of the vegetarian ones. The bbq pork was also goodOverall a very solid place to go and would go again if in the area“
“I've been eyeing Lemon Pepper for some time, and recently, my partner mentioned cravings for noodle soup. Perfect opportunity to try LPVC!We arrived, and took about 5 minutes to look for street parking. We entered the store around 11:30 or so, and it was cuter than I was expecting. There were some nice decor and I liked the interior paint colors. We were quickly served and the food came out within 8-10 minutes. We ordered #9 & #10 and both hit the spot. I ate #9 and everything was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly and every component was 10/10. Delicious. I tried the broth from #10 and it was so delicious. My partner really enjoyed it. We left satisfied and look forward to returning! They had a sign that they will be temporarily closed part of august 2023 through November 2023. We look forward to visiting when they return!“
“HELLO. Quit sleeping on CHIC N' TIME!!! Hands down the best chicken wings and popcorn chicken that I have ever had. If I had to choose a last meal - it'd be the peppercorn chicken wing plate and a side of 16oz chicken broth. If I had an Olympic-size swimming pool, I'd drain it and fill it with the Chic n' Time chicken broth and swim in it daily!!! Real talk - this place is amazing. Also - the owners(?)/employees are the sweetest. I can't say enough good things about this place. 10/10 recommend to everyone. Thank you for coming to my Chicken Talk™“
“Came here for a quick lunch and this place is awesome!Good:- Super reasonable and cheap prices for the amount of food you get!- Loved the duck banh mi, it was really tasty and great portion sizes - I think it might have been the best Bahn mi that I've had in the city- The staff are super nice and the food comes out super quickly! I waited maybeBad:- No seating, just takeout so you need to eat somewhere nearbyOverall would come again! This place has a lot of simple options and feels really healthy too.“
“I wanted to go to Haiji Noodle House with my parents during the Spring Festival.Helpless shopkeepers take a breakWent to this place instead.Tastes as delicious as everWe ordered the signature powder and Vietnamese coffeevery satisfiedRice noodle soup is piping hot and deliciousThe rice noodles are not ordinary rice noodlesVery soft and waxy but with a bit of toughnessThe beef offal is cooked very lazily and is also suitable for the elderlyThe coffee is classic black coffee with coconut milk“
“Definitely worth visiting. The food is not "exceptionally great" but it is cheap and such a classic and special Vietnamese "to go" spot that you'll be happy you went and glad to support such a local establishment.I ordered the fried rice (perfectly executed, clean, and delicious)The chicken leg (good but far from great in its lack of lemongrass flavor which would have been amazing)Chow fun (hard pass... Greasy and far inferior to the fluffy fried rice unless you really have a hankering for some noodles to go with your main)“
“My food came out so fast, they must have read my mind as I was walking towards the restaurant. I got spring rolls, which were gigantic and came with tons of peanut sauce. The Combination Pho had a lot of meat in it and was filling and flavorful. The servers were attentive even as it was starting to get busy. Im impatient so I would definitely go back.“
“Literally my favorite place in the city- I have yet to be disappointed by any dish after trying like half the menu. The best part is that instead of braving the brunch crowds on the weekends you can get the brunch dishes any time! Super nice staff and always such an amazing spot“
“Remember the grade school taunt, "If you love something, why don't you marry it?" I totally want to marry this sandwich. In fact, I want to commit polygamy. These sandwiches are THAT amazing. The pork belly sandwich has these crispy nubs of deep fried pork skin, thoughtfully diced so that your teeth don't struggle, scattered on top of the filling of the most tender slices of pork belly imaginable. And the Le Dip? Don't get me started. The sirloin is perfectly cooked and shaved so thin that you get the mille feuille effect (Have you ever had mille feuille tonkatsu? Yeah, it's like that). The horseradish sauce is bracing, not overwhelming. And the sandwich fillings are nestled in this special Vietnamese baguette which is unlike a French baguette. It has a glassine crust that shatters the moment your teeth make contact and gives way to a pillowy interior. Eating this sandwich is the type of experience that makes you melancholy the closer you are to the end because you don't want the experience to come to an end.“
“The best Vietnamese vegan restaurant outside of Vietnam. We ordered lemongrass deluxe and spicy noodle soup. They’re both soooo goooood! The owners are so kind and the place is spotless. What a great experience. We will definitely return.“
“I was hungry and didn't have time to wait and this was a perfect place to go if u in the Castro. Ordered Ham and Egg Bagel, Earl Grey Tea, 5 Potstickers and a Lemongrass Chicken Sandwich.... WOW I guess I need to expand my choices when in the Castro on where to eat. I am glad I came across this place and I am not gonna lie, food was out within 10min, but also, I went in on a Wed at 11.30am. Lunch rush picked up while I was here, but it will be interesting to see how busy they become on weekends. I am giving them a 5star on the first visit which is usually not me, but I will definitely check them out again soon.Wheelchair accessibility: It's wheelchair accessible and tables are accommodating“
“As a Vietnamese, I highly recommend this spot as my go-to place. Not only do they serve delicious food, but it is also both friendly and affordable. I have personally tried the banh mi, pho, bun bo hue, and bun rieu, and have found them all to be exceptional. I highly recommend giving them a try!“
“Hands down the BEST of all Oakland Vietnamese has to offer! The fried chicken rolls are addictive, the veggies and chicken spring rolls fresh and flavorful. My favorites are their grilled pork Bahn Mi and grilled chicken Pho. Consistently delicious take out EVERYtime.“
“My go to place for Banh mi and noodle soups. I order from here at least twice a week. They are always nice and friendly. Even if they are busy they still knowledge me. My favorite is the meatball sandwich add Cha Lua. The bread is always crispy. The noodles soup is filling and doesn’t make me sleepy like from other places.“
“The warmth of the sweetest lady behind the counter greets you every time! From the first sip of their rich coffee to the last bite of their delectable sandwiches, every visit is a treat for the senses. It's no wonder I find myself here almost every Monday to Friday, drawn in by the irresistible charm and unbeatable quality. This place is truly a pillar in SF, and I'm endlessly thankful for its presence in my daily routine“
“I was getting over a cold and needed some chicken soup. This hit the spot 10000%. Their ginger scallion sauce is amazing. I prefer to get the boneless chicken and the regular size is plenty for a typical appetite. Cash only! Street parking can be a little tricky at times, but I've always found a spot within 5-10 min.“
“This place is one of the best noodle place in San Francisco. I usually order #7 thin or thick with separate soup. The hot soya milk is very good. The service is fast and the owner is very friendly. I eat here for almost 15 years.Parking: Very hard to find a parking.“
“I used to go to Pho 2000 right down the street but after discovering this gem, I’m never going to pho2000 again! The pho is better! The broth is better! The noodles are better! The service and the restaurant all over is a 10 out of 10!! I’m an original Frisco foodie(i grew up here) and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!“
“Step right up, order and pay first, menu on the wall - fast service, delicious, fresh ingredients, Spring rolls and egg rolls done just right - the meat is marinated and sweetened and perfectly grilled, the pickled carrots, green onion, daikon are all still fresh and nicely rice vinegared. Great lunch place, we'll be back to try the Banh Mi next!“
“I have several favorites here but you have to do the mushu wraps as an app! The food is always great! The only downside is that the timing for food to be ready can vary wildly (10-20 mins from the expected time) each time I go to pick up. But the food is always fresh and warm.“
“Tu Lan has been our favorite SF food since I first came here in 1995. Same family runs things, works hard and produces consistently delicious food all these years. It is definitely a "special" place, and you have to be OK with the local flavor as you approach the restaurant. But you will be rewarded with authentic Viet fast delicious food. Totally worth eating here!“
“I've been coming to this little hole in the wall for over 20 years now. If you like Vietnamese food you'll be happy. Their rice plate specials at lunchtime feature a little of soup that is so delicious and I dream about it. Friendly service too!“
“Low-key spot that seems to be a locals favorite. The pho wasn't overpriced like San Francisco. Ordered the basic pho dac biet (large). The broth was good, the meat was kinda dried, and the portion size was good. Wanted to order the iced coffee, but we saw they were premade in the fridge. Well it isn't the end of the world.. just something we would've wanted fresh.Think there's an extra fee for using a credit card. I didn't see that mentioned anywhere so hoping I didn't miss it.“
“Vien Huong is a well-known restaurant that I've been going to since I was a little kid. They're most known for their noodle soups, particularly the Chow Jew Noodle Soups which have a combo of chicken, pork, and shrimp products. Some people like to order with soup on the side and eat their noodles dry with their sauces.I also really like their Beef Stew Noodle Soup which is very flavorful and their beef and beef tendon is very tender.Last but not least are their fried fish cakes. This place is family-owned and cash only.“
“This our go-to spot for pho. My usual is number 26- the seafood pho with rice noodles. I haven't tried anything else from here. It's a busy place but it moves pretty quickly.Parking: The parking lot is small and shared with the Plaza it's located in. We normally find parking there or nearby on the street.Wheelchair accessibility: It's wheelchair accessible and spacious to accommodate.“
“Had the grilled pork banh mi:the pork was grilled very well, with a great fat to muscle ratio. The vegetables were crunchy, fresh and had a great quick pickleThe bread had a crispy outer shell and soft inside. You get all the crunch and none of the torn roof-of-mouth actionFor $10, this was a steal. Definitely trying their bun cha next time“
“Bacogai has been on the top of my bookmark list ever since I saw them on social media. Hot pot is my favorite type of meal so I knew I had to make the drive out to Alameda to give it a try! I was able to easily make a same-day reservation via Yelp, but because the restaurant was full when we arrived, we still waited about 15 minutes. We didn't try any of their drinks but they have a nice list of cocktails, wine, and beer. Now onto the food - We ordered the Beef La Lot ($25) as our appetizer and it was delicious. It was my first time having this dish and Bacogai has set my expectations high! However, my boyfriend mentioned that $25 is on the pricier end for this compared to other places he's tried. Perhaps because this is categorized as an entree on the menu, but I think if I were to order it as an entree, I would only get it if I wasn't that hungry since the portion is on the smaller side. For our individual hot pots, I got the Lau Oxtail ($26) and my boyfriend got the Lau Canh Chua ($27) which is mainly seafood with a sweet and sour tamarind broth. I really enjoyed my Lau Oxtail broth and there was decent amounts of oxtail, tripe, and beef balls. My boyfriend is a big fan of tamarind and his broth was very flavorful and "exactly what he wanted". Because the portions are on the smaller side and there really isn't much meat, we ordered the beef tongue and Australian wagyu beef as an add on to share. The quality of the meat was good but also on the pricier end. Service was great, they were very attentive, checked in on us multiple times, and re-lit our fires quickly when it went out (2-3x). Overall, Bacogai was a delicious and high-quality meal, but it was expensive for the amount of food we got. I don't think I'll be visiting regularly since the drive is a little far from me, but if you're in the area its definitely worth a try.“
“Absolutely LOVE their fresh food, it's always TOP!However...Esthetic and Eco-ethical suggestion:Dying plants are not appetizing....The plants at this location are very dusty and would benefit from a shower once a week due to the high traffic location. Please consider getting plastic plants. If properly caring for a live plants is too much to maintain.“
“We stumbled upon this awesome spot in San Francisco. A Vietnamese joint that's all about that comfy, family-style vibe. Lot of unique dishes. great food, reasonable prices, and fast service. I order the crispy fried egg noodle with tofu. I was clean and tasty, just the way I like it. My friend got the grilled pork skewers with rice noodle. and it was full of flavor, our first time trying that dish. Definitely planning to go back and try more of their food!“
“Absolute best bun rieu in the city- $13 for a huge bowl and way bigger portions. Super generous with the crab meatballs and their soup has a lot of depth. Banh mi's are amazing too!! Owners are friendly and kind- thank you hello sandwich & noodle, we appreciate you :)“
“Staff was very friendly and attentive. The shrimp in my salad rolls were fresh and plentiful. Very tasty. My phó came nice and hot, and was huge. The broth was very flavorful. Menu prices were extremely fare. I would recommend Ly's to anyone looking for a nice Vietnamese meal.“
“This is a cozy little hole in the wall spot for authentic Laotian food. The food is consistent for dine-in and takeout and has great portions for the price. I'm always guaranteed leftovers.I suggest trying the namkhao, gaeng nor mai, and raw beef laab (if you like raw, but cooked beef is available as well).Everything about the place is great, besides the location. It's happens to be in a not so friendly looking location, but don't let that stop you from trying out their food. Get take out and you won't be disappointed.“
“Stopped in for two banh mis after work today, combination for my husband and the lemongrass chicken for me, both very very good. He's pretty particular about his banh mis and he kept saying "this is a good banh mi, this is a really good banh mi!" They're very full and not just a bunch of extra bread which is what I like, actually filling instead of just fluff. Will def be coming again. I also got the veggie egg rolls which are super good, my husband hates veggie egg rolls and loved these! Can't wait to come again !“
“We have ordered takeout a few times, and find the food delicious and the prices good. And our dinner guests agree. The egg rolls are light and crispy, and packed carefully to stay that way. Everything was packed well in fact. I ordered the Korean style beef short ribs and was pleasantly surprised to see the portion was large. Enjoyed it. Shredded pork skin was part of the marinated charbroiled pork dish, interesting but a little bland compared to everything else. My husband enjoyed the baked egg cake that accompanied the pork and thought the pork's seasoning was delicious.“
