“A lot of people had been raving about Mango & Mint. I finally made it there yesterday for the first time and ... it was even better than my expectations!
I ordered the spring rolls. They were so fresh and so tasty! 👍The flan is also a must eat! 🙂The waitress double checked on the ingredients of the sauce to confirm if it was GF or not.
I loved the food so much I returned today for more spring rolls and flan. The waitress greeted as if I was a regular as she recognized me from yesterday. 😉😊

“After attending Saturday Mass with a friend, we decided to join a couple of ladies that go to Rang Dong's often. It was only a block away from Central Avenue and Webster. The vegetables were fresh and the soup broth was great, however the chicken was over cooked. I was in love with the fresh vegetables. I would go again to try something different next time.“

“We initially tried to come here on a Friday at 7 PM but there seemed to be a long wait so we decided to check it out on a Wednesday and we only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. This location was originally a Taco Bell, but I love the atmosphere there, friendly, good service and comforting food! It's a cozy place perfect for a cold wintry day to have your own little boiling hot pot of tasty broth and hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Hubby ordered the Lau Pork Bone Marrow and I had the Lau Oxtail. I ordered the Oxtail without the tripe, just more oxtail! The hot pot came out boiling with oxtail and beef balls. All I had to do was cook the egg noodles, taro, tofu, cabbage, veggies into the soup as there was plenty of delicious oxtail and meat balls in the delicious broth! Great for a bone chilling night! Next time I'd love to try the shaken beef!“

“We stopped by on a Monday to check the place out. It's a big place with side VIP and Karaoke rooms, as well as a dance area in the back. Upstairs they have 2 pool tables and a couple lounge areas. Word has it they have live DJ's on weekends.
We started with an assortment of Lychee cocktails which we're all good. Then we got fresh spring rolls, and potstickers for appetizers. For our main course I got the rare beef Pho, another person got rare beef with meatballs, and the third person got the Tofu Bahn Mi.
All of it was good and the prices are reasonable.“

“Breakfast sandwich, 3 shrimp spring rolls, avocado salad. Breakfast sandwich was my favorite, fluffy and thick egg inside with chives, crispy and buttery croissant and cheese was nice with it too. Avocado salad wasn't my favorite although it was still great, maybe i added too much dressing on the first go. Dressing was like a balsamic peanut. However it was a big and substantial salad. 3 spring rolls were awesome as well, very fresh and comes with Siracha and two peanut sauces.

Great value, bigger portions than I expected, definitely going to come back and try some of their other items like the smoothies. It's nice they're open early too.

“We often bring out-of-towners here because it's hard to find Laotian food outside of the Bay and Vientian Cafe always delivers. The menu is super extensive and very reasonably priced, so you can try a bunch of new things each time. We always get the nam kao and the lao sausage (which you can also take home frozen). Angel wings are also super addictive.

Food also travels well if you're looking for takeout. One of our favorite spots in the east bay!“

“This place makes a killer pork ban mi, pro tip, get a side of broth for dipping. Also recommend the bun with egg roll. Very crunchy, lots of fresh herbs. Folks that run Phosho are friendly and efficient, and portions are generous. Glad they are nearby now, I used to have to drive 15 minutes south for their food.“

“I've been coming here for a decade. Although the prices have literally doubled, this is still probably the cheapest Banh Mi around. The grilled pork Banh Mi and egg rolls are the usual.

For the longest time this place was cash only. They've recently started accepting credit!“

“I have had their veggie (vegan) pho a couple of times now. It has a big portion of mixed veggies and fresh tofu, with yummy fried shallots sprinkled on top. The soup is warm and flavorful. I would love to try their other vegan options next!“

The Tofu Banh Mi Sandwich was excellent! Wonderful flavor, amazing texture, just the right amount of sauce and spices. I called in my order, and it was ready when I arrived in 10 minutes. Their service over the phone and in-person was engaging and courteous. The price was extremely reasonable. I also love that they charge less if you pay in cash – a great way to wean all of us off the credit card system.“

I’m glad my friend suggested here because I tend to only go to the same spot for Vietnamese food (pho). She was craving “Dry Pho” and I was happy to check out another mom ‘n pops spot!

PARKING: The area feels and looks sketchy so watch out where you step! We did find parking around the block, and since it’s around residential area, parking is free.

The staff is super kind, polite and friendly, and helped with ordering. Here’s what ordered:

Marinated grilled pork, egg roll w/Vermicelli.
This also comes with usual works, which is green onions, chopped peanuts, pickled carrots and daikon,shredded lettuce, cilantro, and a side of sweet fish sauce. The egg roll is cut into 4, to make it easier to eat and it was crispy and yummy! Everything about this bowl was just so refreshing and yummy! I think I made a good choice today!

“Tried their Banh Mi sandwich instead of the Pho this time. Got the combo with chicken, beef, and pork. I was thinking it'd be the cold cuts, but nahhhh it's real chicken, beef, and pork loaded inside which was a lovely change to try. I actually enjoyed it with the triple meats! However, wayyyyy too much mayo and does not include Pate, you have to order Pate as an extra add-on, but only $1 extra. Overall, great sandwich but wayyyy too much mayo. I'd ask for light mayo next time! Extremely untraditional combo banh mi sandwich, but always nice to try something new!“

“My favorite local banh mi spot. These guys make about as authentic a banh mi as you can find anywhere. Everything exactly as it needs to be, and nothing that it doesn't. “I tried pho places in Oakland and San Leandro... Pho King Original has very savory broth, not salty, not greasy. The fresh spring rolls with shredded pork are huge and clean along with tasty fish sauce.

The owner is very friendly and plays cool oldies music in different languages. The place is well lighted and clean. Price is great for the portion of food.

“I had a bowl of dry noodle the other day here, and I thought it wasn't very good.They used both the yellow egg noodle and the rice noodle, I am okay with the rice noodle, but the egg noodle gave a sweet taste that I do not care for.For the protein part they have 2 shrimp, 2 quail egg, some ground pork that I never EVER care for, some liver that was quite dry and tough, they also have what I thought was pig feet meat, and it was like the only thing that I seem to enjoy here, it got a good amount of of pig skin, some fat, and the meat was tender and sweet.There were also some bean sprouts, chives, green onion, cilantro, and fried shallot.My meal also came with a side of soup, which I thought was not bad, it seem to have a strong porky flavor.I also had their coconut jello for desert, it was not bad, but it didn't have any coconut meat piece in it. I like my friend's coconut jello much better.Overall it was an okay meal, there was a lot of food for the the price, the quality and taste was not the best for their dry noodle, but I had their bun rieu before and it was really good, so skip the dry noodle and try that one. FYI, their bun rieu have crab paste in there or something with crab protein, because as soon as I finished their bowl of bun rieu and left the restaurant that day, my whole body was itching like crazy plus other allergy symptoms for the rest of that day even after I took some allergy med later. It was MY FAULT for not thinking that some people do use crab paste in their bun rieu broth, well it okay, because it was a pretty good bun rieu.“

“Spectacular food and lovely service. I judge Vietnamese restaurants by their Pho and this is one of the three best I've ever had in America and Europe. Marvelous broth, full of depth and nuanced flavor. Don't love the meatballs, even though they are traditional, but also had great thin cut beef. Would suggest having options to have the meatballs or not, or add tendon. Then had mini pancakes with shrimp, Banh Khot, which I had been looking for for years. These were much better than the ones I originally fell for decades ago in San Mateo, with crisper texture, but most importantly better herb selection (shiso and mint), the addition of turmeric, and a great sauce which enhanced the flavor interplay to truly divine levels. Highly recommend an outing to try these! One caveat, the dining room is nice but not deluxe, with paper napkins and tables that are too high for the chairs. Outside seating option in a wooden framed area next to the onsite parking lot (which makes coming here very convenient).“

“It’s a cute shop with pre made and made to order food/drinks. I only got a Vietnamese coffee, and it was one of the pre-made things on the shelf without ice— that’s added in afterwards. That being said, seeing how much coffee you actually got and the amount of ice they put is upsetting for a $6 coffee. Actual taste of coffee was alright. Workers are nice.“

“This is a gem. From the outside, it doesn't look like much but the food and the kind staff are the stars here. My favorite is the tumeric soup. I'm not vegetarian but the tofu version of this soup is every bit as delicious as the other versions. I'm also a big fan of the lemongrass chicken bahn mi. This is a complex and delicious sandwich (watch out for the jalapenos). I'm from San Jose, CA so I'm used to wonderful Vietnamese cuisine and this is the best in the Albany/Berkeley area.“

Other Vietnamese restaurants have popped up, no offence, but they seem to cater to the American taste bud, cost more for smaller portions, and are tastewise alright. A lot of Asian restaurants cater to a broughter palette now, have a fusion look and their food. Vietnamese restaurants like this take you back to the 90s and early 00s. “My wife and I work in Oakland on Saturdays. We always look for a restaurant to try. Oh my Da Nang Quan. We sat and I let the ambient soaked into me. 4 ladies in the corner table chatting it up in Vietnamese. A couple next to us shared what they had ordered. 4 men was at a table speaking Cantonese and Vietnamese. It felt so nice hearing everyone talking about their lives. “Dropped in for some pho and really enjoyed the meal. The service was really great and friendly. Pho- quite delicious. I liked the quality of the goods, the mint and thai basil leaves were very impressive, so fresh and HUGE and tasted great. This place also served their bowls with limes which is funny because I've seen it becoming rarer, where lemons are being substituted and I'm the former so I appreciated that. The cuts of meat were these nice long strips, high quality.

I also got a banh xeo and that things was awesome. Whoever cooked it did so perfectly... nice crunch on the rim, juicy interior. The batter has coconut milk, so each bite is so flavorful. “Went tonight for the first time with my family after the tree lighting and it was a great experience. Music was soft, place was busy but not overcrowded, all the people were nice patrons and staff, and the food was good. I personally enjoyed the beef stew noodle soup dish and will definitely be back for more of that for sure.

Kid-friendliness: My wife and my two young children and myself attended. There were other families with young children we got to meet and greet throughout our dining experience and the staff incredibly kind and nice to our family especially our babies.“
