“As a Belgian, I am always on the lookout for an authentic French bakery. Sarmentine’s viennoiserie brought me back to early Sunday morning at home and I loved it! I was especially grateful for their pain au raisin. My one qualm (and this may be controversial because the bakery is near SF) is that the baguettes are sourdough and not authentically French.“

“Saying that Flour and Bloom “made” our cake is about as understated as saying Michelangelo “made” the David. Working with Ora Beth was everything. About a month before the wedding, she hosted us in their tasting room, where we enjoyed one delectable bite after another. Ora Beth conducted the tasting much like the hosts at all the surrounding wineries, telling us about the contents and flavors of each sample. As delicious as the tasting was, it could not have prepared us for how magnificent the wedding cake would be. Flour and Bloom delivered the cake to the venue and set it up for a nominal charge given the stress associated with that endeavor. Only the bride shined brighter than the cake in the eyes of our guests, and each piece led to exclamations of “oohs” and “ahhs” from everyone. If you are thinking about who to hire for your wedding, stop! Hire Flour and Bloom and move to the next thing on your list.“

The chai was a house blend and had a good kick! There is indoor seating - about 3 tables. I enjoyed looking at the art by local artists on the walls. Plenty of vegetarian options. Street parking nearby. Quiet interior. My only complaint is I wish they had prices posted for most items, not just the drinks.“

I ordered the miso marinade salmon, buckwheat soba noodles, soft boiled egg, edamame, gome dressing, and the flavors were absolutely perfect. My husband ordered the Teochew braised duck leg, tofu, soft boiled egg, bok choy, pickled peppers. He said this dish was absolute perfection. Sublime flavors and unparalleled quality of ingredients. “I have tried some of their breads and they are OK. Could be better. Not on par with La Brea. The baguette looks good but only comes in French (sweet) not sourdough. They should start making sourdough baguettes. The batards are shaped too much like basketballs but do come in sourdough as well as the non-sour or Pane Francese. I called on the phone and Nicole took care of any concerns I had with my order. Their products and customer service are second to none.“

The only downside is the service from one specific person in the front… She rarely smiles and each time my order has an error. I really hate to say something, but she does make a ding in your visit unfortunately. I just wish she had a little more enthusiasm to be there. “What Mary does is create pure ✨ magic! ✨ You can tell she puts her absolute all into what she does here at Blooms End. The pastries never disappoint and Mary always greets everyone with charm and warmth, no matter how busy it may be.
Fridays are optimal because they are quieter but even a Saturday wait is rarely more than a 20 minutes. If you go on an event/special weekend, like strawberry fest/tomato days/etc (which you should because they’re so fun!), you are more likely to wait a while longer but we always enjoy chatting with the people around us and plotting what pastries we’ll enjoy. Hot Tip: Mary posts the menu for the week (with tasting notes!) on Thursdays so we screen shot it and highlight what we want.

“Pricy but delicious. I don't remember how the service was, so I give that category 5 stars for now because I can't recall any complaints. As for the atmosphere. Well, it's in a mall with a fair number of stores, although I remember quite a few empty spaces. There are 3 small tables, 2 of which have 2 chairs and 1 having 3 chairs. There are also 4 cushy seats surrounding a table roughly 50 feet away. The atmosphere is not good or bad, it's just ... there.“
