“This bar is awesome! We heard that it was the smallest bar in LA and expected to be greeted by regulars who resented our presence. We experienced the complete opposite. The bartender Pete immediately recognized my Midwest accent and engaged myself and my 2 adult children in conversation. The locals at the bar were also very engaging. Many reviews I have read described it as a dive. I completely disagree with that assessment. It is a local bar that is very welcoming to any patron. Keep in mind it is cash only! Looking forward to going back!“

We eat halal, and it was great to discover that Matu serves exclusively halal, grass-fed First Light Farms Wagyu beef from New Zealand. We ordered the ribeye, New York strip, fries, Japanese Caesar, and skewers. Every steak was cooked perfectly - juicy, tender, and richly flavorful. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned, the Japanese Caesar was fresh and delicious, and the skewers were my wife’s favorite and added an extra savory touch.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it ideal for a relaxing night out. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the manager went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. Their genuine hospitality made our visit even more enjoyable. “Some buddies and I came here looking for craft cocktails. They did not disappoint. We ended up coming two nights in a row. If Grant is behind the bar, you’re in great hands. Let him do his thing. He’s truly a bartending gem. This place is lucky to have him.“

“I went to the Tonchin location in New York late last year, so I came into the Los Angeles location excited and with high expectations. The food was good overall. My wife did not quite understand the hype around it, but I personally thought it was solid, even though it did not stand out as much as the New York location.

Where the difference between the two locations stood out the most was in customer service. We had to wait nearly twenty minutes just to receive the check, and throughout the meal the server rarely came by to check on us. Because of this, the overall experience at the Los Angeles location fell short of what I experienced in New York.

“For Venice this was 5* for me. Attentive staff, good cocktail/wine list, and most marvelous sausage/rabe orecchiette pasta. Loved the meatballs, okay pizza (mostly because all LA pizzas taste the same, soggy in the middle, yeasty fluffy crust and whatever else on the middle), but the pasta...it was a little chewy, a little doughy (all in the best way possible), perfectly saucy, spiced to perfection. The Nebbiolo they source washes down splendidly after all the protein/carb intake. Servers are attentive, knowledgeable, non-intrusive but always around and quick.“

“Hands down my favorite bar. We discovered this bar while working on the Fox Studio Lot and have become regulars ever since. The Mozzatini is to DIE FOR. And the bartenders are just so nice. This bar doesn’t have the pretentious feeling most bars have in Los Angeles. I will continue to be a regular for as long as it stays this way. But really, try the Mozzatini. Its so so good.

Parking: There’s always parking off from Pico, but you may need to walk a few minutes. Just check both sides of the road. And don’t park in the neighborhood, you will get a ticket.“

“This place was awesome, super local clientele. The food was nice, server was really busy but did a decent job, the restaurant was pretty slammed when we got there. “They call it a nightclub, I think of it more of a great dive bar. It is clean inside and there are places to sit and they have pool tables and a dance floor. They always have a cool DJ. It is not quiet so be ready for that. Everyone is just having a great time.

The customers are nice and I have never seen an issue there. The staff is super great and they have enough people so you are not waiting at the bar for 20 minutes to get a drink. Their prices are fair and we are always able to find parking, usually on the street.

You can't miss the place, it has a huge green horse on the roof. They have the best tacos and we love taco Tuesday.

Now, it may get a little crowded on the weekend so we tend to go on weekdays.

They make the best drinks. When we go with a group I never drink because I am the one driving. Sometimes they give me my coke for free.

It is just a great locals place, but they love tourists and get them as well.

“We have been going to Horses ever since they opened since it’s right in our neighborhood. The most friendly staff with a big shout out to Amanda. The most amazing craft cocktails and absolutely delicious food. I think we’ve almost tried everything on the menu and have not been disappointed once. Can be hard to get a reservation, but we usually get there at 5:15 and are able to sit at the bar with no problem.“

“I have dined here twice, once for breakfast(which was amazing) and once for dinner. My recent visit was two weeks ago for dinner for my sister's birthday. Our food was absolutely scrumptious, everything we ordered was extremely DELICIOUS. There were five of us and all of us enjoyed our selections. The best part of our dining experience was our dining attendant, Michael. He was attentive, joyous, professional, knowledgeable, fun and gave awesome recommendations! We will be back very soon.

They have a cafe and restaurant, both offering quality food and beverages and a full bar. The restaurant has comfortable seating options and the cafe offers outdoor seating.
