“Omg, what an amazing and super unique dining experience! If you haven't been to Port Costa in the East Bay and are game for a little off the traditional radar adventure, Bull Valley Roadhouse is such a fun alternative to anything but the ordinary. We chose to sit outdoors because the weather was so beautiful, highly recommend! There's a beautiful cocktail/mocktail/beer/wine menu, and they also do special Sunday drinks & brunch from 11a-3p. As for the dinner menu, our party chose to really go all out in honor of a few celebrations we had! We started with the deviled eggs, beef croquettes, fresh bread and honey butter, the Gentleman's relish toast, mac & cheese, and for the grand finale...we chose the largest beef shank I've ever seen served with broccolini and risotto. Everything was shared, and the shank was a $160 plate but split between our whole group, it was not only of epic proportions and extremely photo worthy, but was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and fun. Finishing with a chocolate caramel cookie, scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream, and topped with chocolate whipped cream (so yum!), I literally was in pure culinary heaven. From the XO chili sauce on the deviled eggs (I asked for an extra side of this sauce to use for the rest of the meal), the crispiness of the croquettes and tenderness of the meat inside, the perfect runny egg atop the Gentlemen's toast, the most deliciously sweet honey butter, to the fall off the bone shank, perfectly salted risotto, broccolini crunch, and of course the creamy Mac n cheese (let it sit for a few minutes to harden)...honestly everything was so divine! From the attentive & friendly service to historical funky ambiance, this is just a spot you have to experience for yourself..can't wait to come back to try brunch on a beautiful day! Def worth the extra splurge for a bit of the weekend spontaneous urge..“

“We stayed in Vallejo back in September for our Napa trip and I am just now getting around to leaving all of my reviews. We stopped in here for a couple of beers and food after we arrived in Vallejo because we had an hour or so before we could check into our airbnb. It was nice because it ended up being just a couple of minutes from the airbnb! They had a very nice selection of beers to choose from. We ordered our drinks and food and then sat outside on the patio to get some sun. They had a lot of plants growing in planters all around, so it was pretty despite it only being a multi-level deck. The staff were friendly, the food was good, and the beers even better. A lovely neighborhood spot for some drinks and snacks.“

They have cool purple rice as a signature. And the fish was very tasty! Highly recommend. There is a good sized parking lot next to the restaurant. “Cozy, mom&pop style Thai restaurant in downtown Vallejo. Went there for lunch with a couple of friends, its decorated nicely inside, and you can seat yourself if its not busy. Our waiter was friendly and slightly confused by one of my friends commenting on how much he liked the spiderman decoration in the men's restroom; if they had followed the same theme in the women's. He laughed and said no....they thought about Barbie or Hello Kitty...but decided to stay neutral. Getting to our food....I loved what I ordered which was the Thai basil chicken...the sauce was so flavorful, couldve used just a little more steamed rice to mop it up, but tasty none the less. Overall good experience.... Ciao for now“

“Stopped by randomly during a commute from SSF to Vallejo on a week day. A friendly gentleman was running the place. I ordered the traditional acai bowl which was $13 for a small size. It was different from other acai bowls I've had as it had condensed milk and powdered milk. I loved condensed milk and powdered milk as a kid - so my inner child was jumping for joy as I ate the entire thing. It was topped with fresh bananas and strawberries. Delicious. Would come back here to support this small business. Bathroom was clean too.“

“Excellent Bay Area specialty coffee with vegan food menu and enjoyable for anyone! The coffee menu had a handful of creative and tasteful signature drinks along with the classics. While in line I heard someone ask if the drinks were sweet and they kindly said “not St4rbux sweet” which is a green flag for sure to anyone who really knows coffee. They also offered that customer to make their drink less sweet if they were worried. I had my go-to iced americano to see how good their espresso shots taste since I was sure they were doing something right with so many other good reviews and my experience up to that point. The good vibes were there before I even ordered and that coffee hit too! The Avocado toast is on the fluffiest freshest bread with some sprinkled hemp seeds and chili flakes. I also opted for some chili oil and loved it! Super friendly service and a wait time that was indicative of the care they put into each order without having to wait too long! “I had forgotten about this place! Back when I worked in Vallejo and had to be at work before the sun, Sunshine Smoothies was my saving grace. Vallejo can be dark and stormy before 6 am and this location was one of the few places I could come for a true fruit smoothie or a authentic coffee drink without fake sweeteners or a ton of sugar. The family and I were headed to Mare Island for a drive when we started to pass the cute yellow and orange stand. I immediately turned into the driveway and got in the drive thru line because I hadn't been for a visit for 5 years and I wanted to see if the items still had the same quality. I ordered a caramel blended coffee drink and my husband ordered the Very Berry smoothie. We were told that there was a big order ahead of us, but we could move to cone #1 to wait for our order. We moved to the cone, turned the engine off and enjoyed the bay view. There was one person in front of us and 4 behind us, so they were crazy busy for such a small parking lot. When our order was ready less than 10 minutes later, we were greeted with medium drinks as a thank you for our patience. The owner didn't even have to do that! My drink was perfect. Not too sweet, and it actually tasted like caramel blended in a not too strong, brewed coffee! My husband's smoothie tasted like apples, strawberries, and blueberries and was the perfect refresher on a warm Sunday. I will be back. I am so glad that they are still open and I cannot wait for my next drink! Service is always friendly and you can tell that the people working the booth actually enjoy their job! Traballo’s Backyard BBQ Barbeque • $$
3001 Bayshore Rd, Benicia - 3.14 miles

“This place is hidden in the cuts but worth the drive for some good barbecue. From the freeway exit N/B 680 it's only one turn right turn a maybe a 2 minute drive. From S/B 680 it may be 5 minutes more if that. It's kind of hidden but there is a big sign you can't miss if you're looking. They have a small parking lot and take orders through the screen door. There is outside seating and tables if you choose to eat there. I placed my order after looking over the menu outside and my food was ready really quick. The 2 way combo was $25 which was understandable and reasonable for the portion sizes and inflation. My only gripe may be on what they consider potato salad which was more like a loaded baked potato. The flavor of the chicken and ribs were delicious. The ribs were tender and neither were burned or over cooked. I also like that they put the barbecue sauce in containers for you to add to your food as you like. The Mac and cheese was pretty good too but could have used a bit more seasoning to it. Otherwise I like this place and the staff are very nice as well. Oh yeah, they didn't have the lumpia that day“

Four Fools Winery Wineries • $
13 Pacific Ave, Rodeo - 4.83 miles

“Having lived in the nearby section of the East Bay my entire life, it was shocking when a friend offered for us to join at a very local winery. Right up until the point of parking, I was still skeptical; and then we were at Four Fools Winery. This winery is interesting in that, IMO it is good at a little bit of everything while no particular mastery. The location is not at all far from the water and so provides a nice view for those that want to pay attention. But nice is about it, factually there is no conversation level view like of the GGB or the SF skyline. But thats ok. Parking is on gravel so heel-wearers be cautious. The entrance is basic and local-feeling, not all flashy like other places roughly an hour or so northeast. The benefit of this though would be to support local artists and talent and to buy souvenirs and trinkets that reflect the local culture, not Am@z0n. Staff was kind and talkative to the amount you the patron wants to be talkative, they kinda match your energy. And of course, the wine. The flight was good. The wines differed in flavor and texture so that in itself is always interesting. But nothing jumped out to really grab attention, and the flight could have been a little larger. Again, rating of good. So why go to Four Fools Winery? Two reasons for me. One - proximity. For where we live, this is way closer than Napa, Sonoma, Livermore, Santa Rosa or anywhere else. Cutting traffic time, distance, bridges and gas makes a big impact. And the view is still good if not grande. Two - balance. One more star would come if Four Fools really excelled in one or two areas. Instead everything is "good". However there is a value in that. Nothing is bad, and with everything good there is a sense of basic balance which in itself is a plus. And we plan to go back ourselves, so good isn't an acronym for something lesser or negative. So don't be a fool and pass up this local discovery, be a fool for Four Fools and get in there for a relaxing good time.“

“After a recent midday trip to Benicia, we were hungry. I have been to several other restaurants on 1st Street and enjoyed them all. I will finish those reviews soon. It was my suggestion to have lunch here. We could leave the car parked and it was a short walk. Happily, it was a good choice. I ordered the Shrimp and Asparagus salad, and it was delicious. The salad consisted of mixed greens, avocado slices, cherry tomatoes, a semi-hardboiled egg, and asparagus topped off with two skewers of grilled shrimp. The Louie dressing was served on the slide. K had the pulled pork sandwich. The interior was pleasant, the bathrooms were clean, and the service was attentive. The Taproom is on my list for a return visit.“

“LOVED this place, just wish it was a little bit more affordable and the seating was spaced apart more. We got 3 different types of empanadas and they were all super yummy, don't sleep on the mushroom one it was AMAZING! We ordered a seafood stew, the pork adobo, fries, and 2 cocktails and everything was very good! We don't usually have Peruvian food though so I can't speak to its authenticity but it sure was delicious! My favorite had to be the seafood stew, there was an abundance of seafood and the sauce is just to die for! Definitely a great date night spot! The only reason this is getting a 4 is because our seat was pretty cramped and we there were ppls chair backs pressed right into our table.“

“I walked in after my work out looking to get something to start my morning grind right and this was exactly what I wanted and needed! Customer service was on point! I was quickly greeted with a smiling face, helped, and all of my questions answered. The best part was that I was able to sample the juices before committing to buying a bottle! For a great green juice that is enjoyable, refreshing, gives you energy, doesn't taste like a bushel of garden, and has the right amount of sweetness, get the GREEN MACHINE. You'll feel like you're ready to take on the world! For a nitro cold brew coffee that will wake you up, order the COFFEE LADY! Better than your usual franchise cold brew! Take it from me because I know what good strong coffee is! Plus, I like the addition of the Almond Tempest (a nut mylk that has almond, dates, cinnamon, sea salt, and vanilla bean) which is by itself pure bliss. Will be back! Thinking of what to try next!“

“Been here multiple times and Aung MayLika never misses! Whenever I'm craving something homey and comforting, this is where I tend to gravitate. The food is just so flavorful! Some of my favorite dishes to order are the salt and pepper swai, the tea leaf salad, and the palatha with side of curry. Also, you can never go wrong with their Burmese milk tea. Service is usually quick and pleasant, even when they are packed with a full house. I usually dine-in for dinner, and they consistently satisfy my Burmese food cravings each time! They have a great selection of both meat and vegetarian dishes, soups, rice and noodle dishes, and some chef's specials, so there is definitely something for everyone! If you're a fan of Burmese food, I highly, highly recommend coming to Aung Maylika to get your fix! And if not, please try it out!“

“This was my absolute favorite place in Vallejo but they recently changed their menu and I'm so sad about it! The breakfast burrito used to come with an amazing mole sauce and now it comes with a tomatillo which was good but does not compare to before. Another reason I loved this place was the amount of vegan options they have available, they still have good options- the breakfast burrito has a vegan version with tofu instead of eggs, the black bean burger, avocado tacos, and the Korean bowl. They removed the tofu sandwich, the teriyaki bowl, and the Buddha bowl. I hope to they bring all of these back, they were so good! I also wish they served breakfast longer especially on the weekends instead of cutting it off at 11am. The coffee and service are always great however! They have unique flavors like cardamom and ube. They can get pretty busy but are always friendly and accommodating. Still one of my go to spots though for sure!“

If this place was a pastry only bakery, it would be a solid five stars.I’m giving it 4 stars. Great pastries, mediocre coffee.“
