Denise is Usually our server and does an excellent job ensuring that our food and drink orders are correct and piping hot (cold drinks cold). She is always pleasant and friendly in spite of our large group. Thank you Denise, all the cooks, and wait-staff for making Sukie’s Country Kitchen an Institution for our community.

“We met up here for breakfast and we were happy we did. We arrived as they opened. We learned that they start serving mariscos after 9am. We had chiliquiles verdes and machaca con huevos. Both plates were delicious. The chiliquiles had a small kick (spice) to it, which I loved. Homemade tortillas came with the machaca. We also had the agua de jaimica, which was good. Service was great and ambiance was great as well. We'd definitely come back.“

I ordered a split scoop with Mango Sticky Rice and Pink Berry, and my mind was absolutely blown.The Mango Sticky Rice is easily the best flavor on the menu. It’s actually a vegan flavor, combining a super rich, creamy coconut ice cream base with a vibrant mango sorbet. The contrast between the two textures works so incredibly well, and it tastes exactly like the actual Thai dessert without being overly heavy.Pairing it with the Pink Berry was the ultimate move. It adds this beautifully bright, refreshing, and slightly tart fruit contrast that balances out the rich coconut flawlessly. The texture of their ice cream and sorbet is consistently top-notch—so smooth and clearly crafted with care.The shop itself is boutique and charming, and the staff are incredibly welcoming with samples. “Often come here for my birthday. This place makes me overjoyed that I can really enjoy complex types of sushi again (after transitioning from pescetarian). A lot of places that serve meat sushi with vegan/vegetarian sushi options, tend to make them bland and overly simple (since it's usually something secondary to cater to have something at all for vegs). This place knows how to make them extremely rich and complex in flavor and texture, satisfying, filling and fun. There is a lot of love with these sushi. I highly recommend the Barbers, which is like playing Russian Roulette by including one random spicy sushi... if you get it, you're supposed to take the included shot of saké. But my absolute-absolute favorite is the The Wedge, the flavor and texture is absolutely amazing. This time around, also had the Sunset again (which has the fun display of fire), and Leahi (beets, vegan cream cheese and cashew sprinkles!)“

“Was really sad to see my favorite unique + quality brunch spot in the bay change format to being fast casual. It was such an easy brunch pick to take out of towners or friends to.

Now instead, they've become easily one of the best fast-casual food in the bay. So I really can't complain. I guess their format changed worked because I've eaten here more often than when they were full service. The value for the money you get here is pretty nuts. Still just as good ingredients & just as good preparation, all at a more approachable price point & form factor. What really gets me is I'm truly getting restaurant quality cooking for a unique cuisine I don't see very often, just a version that works better to-go. When you compare to some of the other casual lunch/dinner places in the area that have a similar format, it's really no competition. You'd be hard pressed to find a better way to spend $20-30/pp. I also love that they kept some of my favorite guilty pleasures from when they were a full service restaurant, like the knafe pancake.

Their in-house online ordering system is pretty slick and a good deal too. Works just as well as doordash without any of the bloated prices. Wouldn't mind seeing this spread around to more restaurants.“

We’ve been ordering from Hawking Bird for the last year - it’s our go-to spot for delicious fried chicken and flavorful garlic noodles. Our standard order: the Tanya Special. This ingenious dish focused on my favorite Hawking Bird offerings with none of the fluff. Imagine my disappointment when I learned this special was removed from the menu! Yes, you can alter the fried chicken bowl (sub noodles, remove the cucumber/cilantro/mint) but Tanya was generous, providing a larger portion size that cannot be recreated. Times are tough, and Miss Tanya provided some relief.

My loyalty to Hawking Bird has not wavered, I’m placing an order right now - but please consider bringing this special back!“

“Very friendly owner. Offered 5% discount on cash payments. We ordered 3 dishes. Kaokao chicken, char siu over rice, and beef brisket noodle soup. The star of the meal was the char siu over rice. We’ll reorder that for sure. The beef brisket’s soup was soy sauce forward, my husband enjoyed the noodle but it was a tad too soft for me. The kaokao chicken is very well cooked, moist chicken, but it was a confused dish imo, so it is not a dish we would reorder. Overall good tasting food, we’d come back for the char siu. The restaurant was very smokey, and it stuck to my body and clothes all day after. So I would not come here before going anywhere important, so you’ll smell of bbq.“
