“extremely bad tasting food and bizzare combinations....miffed at kichadi like biryani with no flavour and being served with aam ka achar....god knows how this restaurant got Michelin star rating ....Shame on the chefs and the owners for ripping off the customers with overpricing of the food for poor service, absence of any ambience or decor“

“Finally had a time to leave review for this amazing place that we dined 2 times while on our trip to California.
The place is amazing with variety of Indian food options, place is also cozy and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Coming from
Canada and finding a comfort Indian food, we came across this place and thought to give it a try and our first experience on first day of trip made us come back on the last day of trip too.
Their veggie biryani was everything, their curries were delicious too and the Mango lassi was yummmm 😋
The staff, specially Arjun and Arun were the most amicable and friendly. They provided good suggestions for the food to eat and places to visit as well. Their service was also excellent leaving our experience as memorable as possible.
Will definitely recommend this place for a good, friendly , comfortable qnd welcoming experience for anyone visiting in and around the area.
P.S: @Arjun @Arun hope you remember us as we do( an Indian couple with a 3 yr old whom the complimentary yummy mango lassis was offered ❤️)“

“Outstanding Indian food in a casual and cozy location. The food here is probably the best Indian food I've had anywhere. We had the Butter Chicken and Lamb Vindaloo with garlic naan. Both dishes were authentic tasting and superbly prepared. Neither dish was overpowering in spices or heat. You could tell fresh spices, seasonings and ingredients were used. Servings were ample too.“

Their dishes are always delicious, elegant and consistent. I’ve tried many Indian restaurants, this one has the best flavor! Will go back again and again!“

“Enjoyable Times at Khazana, Palo Alto . A Refined Elevated Experience with Creative Indian Inspired Cocktails like Saffron Negroni, Spicy Bazar, Jaipur Bliss - This Trio of Cocktails started our camaraderie dinner with Aplomb. The Atmosphere was oh so cool & Buzzing without being loud and the lighting was soothing. Many Thanks to Hostess Pooja for being Attentive during our dinner there at Khazana - She is the True Khazana of the place and she ensured that the time spacing between different courses was well balanced and not overbearing. We simply loved the Shaam Savera and the Begdi Chili Chicken. Our game plan was focused on Appetizer centric like delectable items like Papads & Chutneys, Ancho Chili Paneer Tikka, Beetroot Croquets, Melt-in-your-mouth Smoked Ricotta Galouti All with awesome chutneys. For the Mains, Chicken Tariwala was so much full of flavor almost like a Roganjosh and Shaam Savera was the piece de resistance. I simply went ballistic over the Gulab Jamun with Rabdi which was lovely to look at and to consume. Assorted Papadums were a delightful accompaniment to the meal. All in all, A Most Memorable gathering - full of laughter - with friends,“

“Sungandh Indian Restaurant, tucked away in San Francisco, offers a nostalgic dining experience with a menu that truly delivers on flavor. I recently visited and, while the food was a definite highlight, the overall experience left me with mixed feelings about the restaurant's potential.
Let's start with the stars of the show: the food. The Butter Chicken Masala was nothing short of amazing. The chicken was tender, and the sauce was a creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced dream. It's a dish that lives up to its reputation and is a must-try for any butter chicken enthusiast. Similarly, the Paneer Kadhai was outstanding. The paneer was soft and fresh, and the vibrant, aromatic sauce was packed with the right amount of heat and spices. Both dishes were clearly made with care and high-quality ingredients, showcasing a kitchen that knows its craft.
Unfortunately, the culinary journey hit a slight snag with the Mango Lassi. It was, to be honest, a bit average. It lacked the rich, thick consistency and vibrant mango flavor I typically expect from a good lassi. It was drinkable, but it didn't quite complement the stellar main courses as I had hoped.
The service was decent, though a little lackluster. Our server was kind and attentive enough to our basic needs, but the service felt more transactional than genuinely welcoming. There wasn't a strong sense of hospitality, which is often a key ingredient in a great dining experience.
The most significant area for improvement, however, is the restaurant itself. Sungandh has a very old-school feel, and not in a charming, vintage way. The decor is dated, and the restaurant is in serious need of a refresh. More critically, the lack of a proper HVAC system was noticeable, making the interior feel stuffy and uncomfortable. A much-needed renovation could transform this place from a hidden gem with great food into a truly top-tier dining destination.
In summary, Sungandh Indian Restaurant is a place you go for the food, particularly the exceptional butter chicken and paneer kadhai. The kitchen staff are clearly masters of their craft. However, be prepared for an experience that feels a bit rough around the edges. If they can invest in a much-needed facelift and elevate their service to match the quality of their cuisine, Sungandh has the potential to be one of the best Indian restaurants in San Francisco. Until then, it's a great spot for takeout or a casual, no-frills meal where the flavors are the main event.“

“Great experience – – when I first walked in I was a little surprised how small the place was – – and took a little bit away from the grandeur that I was expecting from such an expensive restaurant. However the place did grow on me. Importantly the service was very good – – and the food was fantastic. What I enjoyed the most was that I didn't walk out of the restaurant feeling incredibly heavy – – or bloated – – like I usually do when I leave Indian Restaurant. The waiter was great and explained the dishes – – and perfectly portioned out the meal. At first I didn't think we ordered enough – – he assured us that we had. And sure enough he was right. I've been on the expensive side but in the end worth it for special occasions“

“Kasa has beautiful restaurants in the Bay Area with a heart. The decor is gorgeous with pretty details sprinkled around. For example the bench outside the Redwood City restaurant is so pretty and show cases the colors and designs of India. The food itself is very comforting. It is inspired by the recipes of the founder's grandmother and it is delicious. I love the chai there and love that they have a chai kit. They also have a location in Castro, San Francisco with its own unique decor and very friendly staff. Thank you Kasa for sharing your food and beauty with the Bay Area.“

“The chicken is cooked to perfection and the naan bread is good as well. My only complaint is as our group was halfway through our meal, the waitress came over to ask if we wanted dessert. After we said probably not as we were still working on what we had ordered, she then asked if she can close the tab. I felt extremely rushed. Perhaps give your customers sufficient time to finish their meal before asking whether they want dessert (while everyone was still eating) and demanding payment (her exact words were “who’s paying) at that very moment. I like what we had ordered but not sure if i would want to be back again after last nights experience. We were only there for about an hour before she asked us to pay the bill. Service at this restaurant really can use some improvement. The timing of this waitress really ruined the whole experience.“

“I have eaten at this restaurant for years since 1995. I worked close by so I would go for their lunch buffet at least twice a week. I love Indian food. I have tried many Indian restaurants over the years and this is my favorite, top notch! I have tried most items in their menu a la carte as well when I’ve been there for dinner. Yesterday I visited again since I moved out of the Bay Area and their bengan bharta continues to be my very favorite of all restaurants I’ve tried over the years. The ambiance is great, the music fabulous and the owners are very friendly and helpful. They had another location in Livermore which sadly was closed. It was equally good!“

“Good quick bites and friendly staff, I’ve come here often enough to be considered a regular and I’m always greeted by the wonderful people who work here! The deconstructed samosa is wonderful, and there are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options for us non meat-eaters.
I definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner, but get ready to ask for a to-go box because the portions are very generous!
There is plenty of seating for all group sizes, and there is even a connected bar area through the back if you’re looking for a craft cocktail.“

“This is the best Indian food I've ever had!
First off, the plating and presentation of everything is stunning! We had four appetizers and each looked too beautiful to eat. They were ALL the most delicious and flavorful bites!
We also got the lamb, butter paneer, daal makhani, and the jafrani kofta. Each one was amazing! I couldn't pick a favorite. I've eaten at many Indian food places in the Bay Area and this one outdoes all others with flavors, presentation, and service.
Let's talk about the service!! Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly, checked in to see how we liked everything, and even brought out a dessert for my dad after hearing it was his birthday. We really loved everyone we met there, especially Romeo who was so attentive and kind!
Make sure to visit here, even if just to share appetizers, it's worth it!“
