“Recently stopped by for a weekend lunch and it was delicious! Unfortunately, no pictures of the dish I ate (chicken curry, pacific iced tea) but my friend did snap a few photos of her food (tacos, samosa, and bhajia). The bhajia actually has an interesting story! My friend tried ordering it when we first arrived but we were told that they had run out due to a large order that morning. We ended up ordering our other items and sat at one of their outdoor tables to enjoy our food. Near the end of the meal, one of the owners comes by and offers us an order of bhajia on the house(!) because they ended up having enough for us. It was such a kind gesture and we ended up having a short chat with the owner. Really nice owners and great food - what more can you ask for?!“

The gentleman who helped us was not only kind but clearly passionate about what he does, and we enjoyed a great conversation with him. The food was fantastic—the chicken shish and lamb combo plate was so flavorful and tender, rice so tasty. “Gave Dave’s hot chicken a try after a long time and didn’t expect it to be up to par compared to when the location first opened but they beat all expectations.Our host made it feel like we’ve known her for a while, was really nice and accommodating.The food was fresh ,hot and didn’t take no longer then 10 minutes even though they were pretty busy. Our Host, Leslie, recommended to try the chicken with honey and it’s a MUST TRY !“

“Got out of Oakland Zoo and found this place next to a liquor store but the food is deceptively tasteful vs the neighborhood. We order 2 gyros and a lamb bowl. Besides the ample portion, the meats (lamb, steak and chicken) are well marinated and tender. The lamb is not gamy at all. The fries that come with the order are so seasoned such that ketchup would actually ruin it.

Will definitely revisit next time I visit the zoo.“

“This place had some very tasty food, one of the best. The Tandoori Paneer Quesadillas were crazy ? tasty, same as the Corn Masala Chaat. Dahl Makhani with the Garlic Naan was super. Only ate veg this first time, and it was excellent. Going to come back to try the non-veg menu. Highly recommend this place. ?

“This place is a hidden gem. Atmosphere was small and quaint with dine in option. Very clean and comfortable. I had Carne asada with scrambled eggs/cheese. To my surprise tortillas, rice, and beans were included too. Not to mention grilled onions and green peppers. The delicious food was washed down with Mandarin drink. I would definitely stop in again if ever in the area considering the menu was extensive with halal and Mexican options.“

“I recently visited Bab Al-Yemen to enjoy some Yemeni cuisine, but unfortunately, my experience was tainted by an unpleasant incident. The food was actually quite good, especially the rice and grilled chicken, which were well-prepared and flavorful. The ambiance of the restaurant was also nice, although it could be improved in certain areas.

However, I encountered an issue that made the overall experience uncomfortable. There was a large SUV parked in the handicap parking spot outside the restaurant, but it wasn’t displaying the required disabled placard. I pointed this out to a woman who seemed to be involved with the restaurant, and instead of addressing the issue, she began harassing me. Despite leaving the restaurant, she continued her aggressive behavior, which left me feeling upset.

It’s unfortunate that what could have been a pleasant dining experience was overshadowed by this incident. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the situation, as I believe customers should feel safe and respected when they visit.“

“I was headed to the post office on 13th street when I noticed this kabab restaurant. I thought, I'll stop in on my way back. What a treat, I had the curry lamb with rice. I must say that it has to the best curry sauce that I have ever had. The flavors were bold and rich and the lamb was cooked to perfection. I will most definitely be going back!“

“Absolutely loved my dining experience at {PESHAWARI KABABS]! The food was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients in every dish. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It’s refreshing to find a restaurant with such a great selection of authentic Halal options. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Halal food.

“This place is located in a very inconvenient area however the wrap I ordered from here was very very good and probably one the best wraps I’ve had. I ordered the lamb shawarma wrap which came with a hefty amount of lamb. The other filling was lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and yogurt sauce. Alongside the wrap it comes with hummus and side salad. All the veggies were super fresh and crisp which surprised me! I say surprised because everything else is sitting out on warmers as if you were at Subway ordering a sandwich. Some items looked like they were sitting for awhile and I ordered my food/visitied relatively earlier in the day. That threw me off a bit and I wasn’t expecting much from the wrap but it shocked me. Very tasty and I absolutely would order it again!“

I chose potato salad for the side, I liked it, however, I do not know if they make it fresh.

The combo also comes with a Shasta brand soda, but cola and lemon lime are the only offered flavors.

We had 5 adults and 1 child so gratuity was automatically added on to bill, but well worth it. The lady I believe was the owne,r gave us a scallion pancakes on the house. Great halal food.
