“If i could afford it, I would eat here everyday. I always come here for a tasty, filling homemade meal. I have gone to many Laotian restaurants after coming here and NONE compare to how good the food is here. The owner is gem, so sweet and so giving.“

Service is fast and efficient. You order on a tablet and pay immediately and then get your food (which comes out quickly).

Portions are large. I got the beef noodle soup (not bone-in), and I could barely finish half 😭 The meat portion was generous. The soup was good! Though i feel the noodles felt a bit disconnected from the soup? Like they felt like an after thought (not as hot as the soup was, not as flavorful like they didnt absorb any flavor)

Spicy wontons were totally okay. Weren't particularly juicy nor spicy! Wouldn't get this again.

I wouldn't wait longer than 20min for this, and I would prefer to try other places in this area (BIGGGG competition for noodle soup)“

“One of my top 3 favorite ramen place. The bowls are so cute, broth is so cozy, and the chashu pork has a lil sweetness to it— all a winning combo. Amanda was our server and she was so sweet and attentive to us! This place is a gem in a the ways, with its food and people!“

“One of the best Korean Restaurant in town. I ate with my 2 friends, and we ordered the Rose Galbi Jim. I really liked the spices and the soup of the galbi, blended really well with the mozzarella cheese. Moreover, the texture of the tteokbokki was so soft and tasty. At the same time, the portion of the Galbi was so big, we couldn’t finish it so we took some back home.
the other best part was that you could refill the banchan. Would recommend you to ask more for the tofu and kimchi, really mouthwatering. the waiter and waitress were kind and friendly, they served you fast.
we visited the restaurant quite late in the afternoon, so we didn’t need to queue since there were plenty tables. the parking area was big too.“

“They have individual cooking pots so that each person can get their own broth to cook in which is great when your party likes different spice levels. They provide a good variety of vegetables and mushrooms and choices for sides including vegetables and traditional Chinese hotpot meats like tripe. The pumpkin worked really well.
The steaks were fresh and very thin so easy to cook. The wagu was very fatty, but the menu did say 40% fat. The chuck was perfect to american tastes.“

“I’ve been going to Monster Pho ever since I moved to Oakland five years ago, and it has become my go to spot for pho. I usually keep it simple and order the rare steak pho without adding much because the broth speaks for itself. As someone who has had pho from all over the Bay Area, I can honestly say that Monster Pho has a style of broth that is uniquely their own. It tastes like a family recipe that has been perfected over time. It is rich, comforting, and consistently delicious.

What keeps me coming back is not just the food. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay awhile. As a father of four with kids ranging from a teenager to toddlers, finding places that work for the whole family is important. I’ve been bringing my children here since they were little, and Monster Pho has become one of those special Oakland traditions for us.

I also really appreciate the role they play in the community. They are always supporting local causes, hosting fundraisers, and finding ways to give back. In a city as vibrant and diverse as Oakland, places like Monster Pho matter. They help create the sense of community that makes this city special.

Great food, great people, and a great atmosphere. I’m grateful Oakland has places like Monster Pho, and I look forward to bringing my family here for many years to come.

“Nice little date spot with a cozy vibe. Food was good and the service was quick and friendly throughout the night.

We tried:
• Pad Thai Tofu — recommend but their Tofu isn’t deep fried like some other places. Maybe Inquire or push for this if it’s important.
• Mushroom Dumplings 🥟 — also recommend
• Mango Sticky Rice — decent; not the best I’ve had, but still enjoyable
• Deep Fried Veggie Rolls — pretty good
• Thai Iced Tea — solid and refreshing

Overall, we had a nice experience. The food was tasty, service was attentive, and it’s a great casual spot for a date night.“

“The portions were huge and amazing, the chives pancake was both fluffy and crispy. The restaurant was gorgeous, expansive and really clean. The utensils are made from heavy brass and steel and were the most beautiful metal utensils I have ever encountered. Everything was wonderful and the soups were nourishing and delicious, the banchan was generous, and I recommend this place unreservedly.“

“Cha-Ya is very good traditional Japanese food that is all vegan. All of their food is excellent from the sushi to the udon to the various small plate offerings. The ingredients are so fresh and high quality and the food is so comforting and delicious. Prices are quite reasonable, but be aware that it is cash or venmo only. There is rarely a wait for a table, and the service is quick and friendly. It's got a homey/old school vibe and isn't a chic modern place, but that's a good match to the very homey traditional food. Highly recommend if you want a big meal that will leave you feeling great at the end.“

If you love spicy soup I highly recommend the numbing spicy chicken soup. “I was so happy to have this restaurant open up a location in Berkeley. I've been to the original in Bellevue Seattle as well as their other locations in Seattle and here in the Bay Area since I enjoy their food so much. However, I think the Berkeley restaurant needs to work on the consistency of their dishes as compared to their other locations. I ordered the Mala Spicy Noodles last night and it was half lettuce instead of noodles with lettuce garnish. Fortunately, I asked and they graciously re-fired another order for me with less lettuce but when it arrived, they had the lettuce correct but now it also had less mala spice. I'll check again in a few weeks and will gladly change this review to a 5 star rating if they have the consistency fixed.“

“Just wrapped up a fantastic dinner at Sukko Thai and I have to say, every dish hit the mark. We ordered the chicken pad Thai, mango fried rice, and basil eggplant, and honestly, it was tough to pick a favorite.

The pad Thai had that perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory, with chicken that was tender and not overcooked. The mango fried rice was a standout for me. Sweet chunks of ripe mango paired with perfectly seasoned rice made for a dish I'm already thinking about ordering again. And the basil eggplant? Bold, aromatic, and packed with that fresh Thai basil flavor that you just can't fake.

What really impressed me was how fresh everything tasted. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in their ingredients. No heavy, greasy aftertaste, just clean, vibrant Thai flavors done right.

“I took a friend for brunch that has never been to Sula or Cavallo Point. She was so impressed with the food, cocktails, the service and the view. We both had the scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and fruit. Everything was delicious! The bacon was high quality. I wish I could scramble eggs as good as Sula's. We ordered the diplomat cocktail. All outstanding! I was watching other tables and all the other breakfast entree's looked amazing. The chef never disappoints at Farley or Sula. Highly recommend!“

They always pile their portions high and two of their combo plates (and maybe a side of potstickers, my personal favorite) feed my family for multiple meals. Highly recommend the bbq chicken, spicy salt chicken, spicy salt fish, and mushroom tofu!“

“Food was delicious! Ordered the vegetable egg rolls, Khaknom Jin Nam Ngaio, and Pad See Yew. It was all so tasty, and there was a spice rack to kick it up. “I’m literally writing this review while eating the Pad Woon Sen because I just can’t resist giving this place the praise it deserves. Every time I come here, I order something new, and somehow every dish manages to surprise me—Basil Crispy Chicken, Lord of Noodles, Mama Pad Kee Mao, Mango Crispy Chicken… every single one has been amazing.

I can honestly say this restaurant has never disappointed me. If you’re looking for delicious, affordable Thai food in Berkeley, this is the place. I promise you won’t regret it!“

“We came for their event dinner, and we definitely got the bang for our buck. For less than $25 after tip and tax, I was able to get (1) a welcome shot, (2) chicken meatballs + fried baby octopus as appetizer, (3) a cocktail, (4) ramen as the entree, and (5) strawberry panna cotta as dessert. The quality for the price range was superb, especially the ramen. The noodles had a nice springy/chewy texture, the broth wasn't too salty, and the chashu was tender. I also appreciated the friendly staff and the easygoing atmosphere/interior. The only downside was how slow service was and how long it took for our food to come out. Other than that, I'm definitely looking forward to coming back the next time they have event dinners like these.“

“I have been to the Oakland location perhaps 4 or 5 times. The very first time I went, I really liked the atmosphere. It felt spacious and inviting.
The food was also very good. In particular, I would recommend the grandma pork dumplings, the DanDan noodles and the sauteed string beans. The service was prompt and the whole experience was - I have been going there ever since.“

“The food here is great. But, I've reached the limit on what my pocketbook can Justify for a bowl of broth. I started going here pre-pandemic, but since then the cost has increased twice. The cost is almost double what it was. I had the small seafood pho with tip was 23.00. Really not a lot of seafood either to justify it. Go, enjoy your meal. But expect to pay more then you would expect.“
