“We LOVE this bar! Everyone we know has a life-changing story that took place in this iconic bar. The staff is so friendly, the guests are charming and the drinks are cheap. Can you ask for anything more? Oh yeah! It’s literally a block from the beach.“

“This is my favorite steakhouse in the area. Calling it a steakhouse does it a bit of a disservice. First off everytime I go the service is impeccable. The staff has always been friendly and relaxed. They are also very knowledgeable about the entire menu. The staff understands what makes the place unique. All steaks are prepared over an open flame that is field by red oak. The flavor of the oak really comes through each bite of meat and is a truly unique experience. They have two platters that I can not recommend enough.
Associate platter: 3 cuts of steak
Executive platter: 5 cuts of steak
The platter comes out on a rotating tray so everyone at your table can spin the board to pick up what they want. The steaks are sliced before they come to your table, but the chef lets them rest appropriately and it does not detract from flavor or juiciness in the slightest.
The associate is perfect for two people. We have finished the executive with only two people but it's a LOT of food for two people! Their wine and cocktail list is good. I would like to see some expansion of their beer selection, as they usually only have two beers available. But they are always local beers and are very good picks! I really can't say enough good stuff about this place. It's my favorite place to take people visiting from the city.“

“I ordered sashimi at the sushi bar for lunch also had 2 piece Ikura (salmon roe) and a soft shell crab appetizer. Fish was very fresh it was obvious since they were still breaking it down in front of me. 2 guys on the sushi bar 3 in the back and one waitress. I was probably 2nd customer and only person at the bar. I got a weird look from waitress when I asked for the bar and she had to ask one of the guys if it was ok. I soon realized that it was not a real sushi bar after I looked at the menu and realized that they did not have sashimi on the menu.
When I go to a new place I usually order sashimi before I look at a menu because I know what I want.
The place filled up quick and the one waitress was running hard but the guys at the bar took care of me. Fresh fish good beer and sake I was very happy.
Music was very loud and irritating some kind of pop but the guys had no problem turning it down (they did not like it either).
I found it strange that they were pre-cutting the fish into slices but I guess if you are doing production that makes sense, I just have never seen it.
I read a lot of the reviews and part of the problem is people going to a sushi bar for something other than sushi. On the other hand if a restaurant is going to offer it it should be good.

Spent $120 after tip but it was at the coast on pch so location and all. Not to much more than my normal spot maybe $20 or so.

What made our experience truly exceptional was the personalized seven-course tasting menu. Our friend had a collection of his own wines stored there and gave them to Lisa, the warm and welcoming owner. She and Chef Oscar then crafted a menu specifically to pair with those wines. The result was simply unforgettable. Every course was amazing, but a couple stood out as pure genius. One highlight was a half lobster served two ways: one side topped with beef tartare, the other with lobster tartare. As someone who loves tasting menus, I was blown away by the creativity. Another standout was the clams with chorizo in a broth that was just out of this world. And who knew chicken could be so extraordinary? The chicken roulade was unbelievably tender and flavorful. Finally, the venison with mole sauce was cooked to absolute perfection and left us all speechless. Chef Oscar’s talent and humility shone through each dish, and Lisa’s hospitality made the night even more special. While we didn’t try the regular menu, I have no doubt it’s just as delightful. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience with a personal touch, The WineSeller is a must-visit.“

“We used to live in the neighborhood where The Pony Room is located, so naturally, we were “regulars”. Ten years ago we relocated to North Scottsdale, but like many full time Zonies we travel to San Diego a few times every year and always enjoy The Pony Room a couple times a year. The service is the best, the menu is excellent and you can't beat the outdoor seating, especially at sunset. We enjoy the lamb lollipops, salmon and Dover sole. When I retired last year, I took my whole firm for an amazing dinner. Everyone from New York and San Francisco loved it!“

Great vegetable crudités that looks like you are pulling vegies out of a garden but taste delicious (just don’t eat the stems, they are a little bitter) ? “Great hotel restaurant & bar! 🙌 I stayed at this hotel for a couple weeks for work. I had the buffalo wings, burger & fries, carnitas tacos, and garden salad with chicken. I highly recommend them all. All were very tasty/well made and I was pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes.

A huge highlight of our experience was the staff, especially Samuel. He was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable on drinks, and made great conversation. He’s a great addition to the Country Inn & Suites staff.“

Just two negatives: the bartender was unfriendly & unprofessional. We came early & he ignored our request for a couple drinks & never followed up (after telling us to “Wait!) & secondly the food service was extremely slow. The restaurant wasn't busy (at all!) and it took 45 minutes from order to food w No bread or any request to maybe get an appetizer. By the time we received the food (which was good) we were all exhausted! But our server was excellent! Very nice!“

“We celebrated our 43rd anniversary at Steak 48. We throughly enjoyed it!! The food and atmosphere was top notch. We actually live in NYC and we are used to world class steak houses and this place is on par with them. I highly recommend this restaurant.“

Burgeon Brewery has set the bar high for craft beer in Carlsbad. We stopped by on a recommendation and were blown away by their IPA selection. The DDH Juice Press was so good we brought cans home! Other standouts in our flight included Turtle Power, Treevana, and Cloud Chaser—all bursting with flavor.

The brewery’s relaxed atmosphere paired with BBQ from the Thumbs Up Food Truck made our visit memorable. The brisket with spicy sauce was smoky perfection and matched the beers beautifully. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a true gem.“

“We love Shores. With football now starting, it is not so great. It is known as a Packers bar. Today there were 6 Packers fan and the rest of the other team fans had to listen to the loud Packers game. Also, one bartender saved seats for over 2 hours for people who didn't show up. That is not right for everyone who shiftwd seats to accommodate the regular guests. Not "shore" if we'll be back during football. I hope Pete figures it out.“
