Heirloom Bakery & Cafe Bakery • $
807-C Meridian Ave, South Pasadena

“A lovely cafe with the sweetest staff ever. These ladies are so friendly and attentive! Very cute with a decent amount of indoor and outdoor patio seating. Parking can be a bit hard to find, there are some lots and street spaces nearby. There’s a bathroom outside too, just ask staff for the door code. Decent prices and decent food. The quiche of the day was flavorful with great texture, and the Spanish latte was excellent. Would recommend and definitely go back“

“This review is based off of a delivery from Uber eats. The boba was great overall, the options on them were plentiful. The flavor was on point with just the right amount of boba. They were both solid picks. I had the Tiger Sugar milk tea and the oolong milk tea with tiramisu cream.I’d definitely order from here again and try their other menu items.“

“I like this place a lot! They have a variety of Mexican-styled sweets and drinks to try. Most are on the sweet side though (fair warning for any salt lovers!) Personally I'm a fan of their chocolate croissants and mini concha's ^^ I also tried their la fresca con crema slice-it was very moist, similar to a tres leche cake (my cat went absolutely feral for it-much to my dismay XD)“

“Very busy café for the “in-crowd” in the Los Feliz area with plentiful indoor and outdoor seating.Upon staff recommendation, I tried the chocolate chip bread pudding- which was absolutely massive and delicious! Not the best bargain at $10, but I’d say it was worth it and probably could have been shared with another person. There is also a bar in the room adjacent to the coffee shop/bakery, which was also very busy.Neat place to get delicious food and drinks, get some work done, or just sit and people watch.“

“My fiancé and I have put Mazal in our rotation of FAVORITE places. It's not just the food, but since it's yelp..... THE FOOD: I'm new to the vegetarian lifestyle, and started reluctantly under doctor's orders. Mazal has been a revelation! Tal and his staff prepare vegetarian dishes that taste amazing because they were always intended to be vegetarian! Fresh fennel salad, hearty beats with cumin, silky humus and baba ganoush. And mushrooms so perfectly grilled that they taste - dare I say - MEATY, like a mushroom should! So yes, the food is supurb. But that's not the reason we come back. Nor is it the reason we decided to celebrate our recent engagement with them. Mazal feels like a home. The decor is warm, the patio is beautiful and spacious, and Hanni, Tal, and the rest of the staff are kind and welcoming. So, I suggest you come for the food, stay for the people, and come back for both.“

“The place is gorgeous, especially if you love a nice terrace. The food... Is it because it's the only middle Eastern gluten free place, or is it because the ingredients are fresh, or is it because the preparation is perfect, or maybe it's all the small details... I think it's all of the above, one of the best middle Eastern places in LA, and the best gluten free one :) enjoy their manahish!“

“I had been hearing a lot of good things about the food here so I finally made my way into Silverlake to check it out. As you are probably already aware, this is a take out or delivery restaurant. You cannot dine in here. You actually can't even enter the building. The front door is a two piece door and when they are open for business, the top part of the door will be open. You order from there and then wait on the sidewalk for your order to be ready. You can also call in an order in advance or use various delivery services. There was not anyone waiting to order when I got there so I was able to walk directly up to the door and immediately order. I had to wait approximately 10 minutes for my order to be prepared and in those 10 minutes they got very busy. Six people came up to pickup phone or delivery orders during that time and those pickups went very quickly. A line began to form to order during that time and when I left with my order there were 5 other people who had placed others and were now waiting for their orders to be prepared and an additional 7 other people waiting in line to place orders. They prepare their food quickly but keep in mind, they need to cook the food after you place your order. If there is already a line to place your order and people waiting for their food to finish cooking, all of that will add to the amount of time it will take before your order has been prepared. If you are in a hurry and need your order quickly, perhaps you should consider another restaurant such as a fast food restaurant. They do prepare the food as quickly as they can but keep in mind, you will wait approximately 5 to 10 minutes at a minimum and the more people you see standing around out front will add to that wait time. Is it worth the wait? Oh yes, it is worth it. I had the popcorn chicken, Summer Rolls and the Caramelized Pork. The Popcorn chicken and its dipping sauce was a real treat for the taste buds. The chicken is double fried but is not dry on the inside and the dipping sauce has the perfect bite of spices to it. The summer rolls are huge. Your choice of protein or vegetables only. They really could be a meal within themselves and the vegetables were very fresh with lots of vegetable crunch in every bite. The Caramelized Pork came with sticky rice and cooked with hard boiled eggs. It was as good as it sounds (which is very good). The portion sizes were very good with my order easily being enough for two people with some leftovers. Truly, the summer rolls are so large that you cannot help but have leftovers. Parking can be very tricky here. There are yellow painted loading zones in front of the restaurant and the mom & pop grocery store next door so if you are just picking up an order that had already been placed, you shouldn't have a problem. You may find yourself desperately looking for a place to park though. Keep that in mind but don't let that scare you off. You will be thankful for the effort you put in when you are finally home and enjoying the fruits of your troubles. BTW, I hear that their Bahn Mi sandwiches are so good. I look forward to trying that next time.“
