“My family and I had such an incredible experience at Alforon! Samia, co-owner and sole waitress/hostess, laughed with us the entire time, sharing her candid recommendations and suggestions. The za'atar flatbread, chicken kebab, and aaysh essaraya (we ended up ordering two!) were particularly delightful. It was our first time, but it was incredibly telling that the rest of the guests were regulars (one couple was there for the third time that week) - the entire experience felt like we were having a meal at a beloved family member's home. I wish we lived in San Diego because I would be back in a heartbeat!“

The cleaners they use are very strong. Very pinesol or something like that. Glad I got food to go because I wouldn’t want to have smelled the cleaners during dinner. Dining room had zero vibe.“

“I can’t believe I almost drove past this place. My girlfriends and I wanted to try a new place in college area and this is now our go-to spot. I love the family banter between coworkers, the local flyers in the hallway, and the decorations. Most importantly - the food!! Absolute best Mediterranean food I’ve had in a while and they have this secret sauce that hits everytime. I’ve seen some people saying the prices are too high for the portions, but not at all. The portions are huge (definitely room for leftovers), and the prices are no different than a Luna Grill or Kebab Shop. So if you’re thinking of trying something new, look no further. “This was our first time trying Somali food, and it definitely won’t be our last! We asked the staff what they recommended, and every suggestion was excellent.

The whole fried fish was perfectly crispy with amazing flavor, the halal buffalo fries were spicy and delicious, and the sambusas were some of the best we’ve had. We also tried a drink we’d never had before that tasted like a mix between Dr Pepper and grape soda, and it was surprisingly refreshing!

The service was friendly and welcoming, and they made our first experience with Somali cuisine a great one. My husband enjoyed it so much that he already said he’ll be stopping by for lunch whenever he’s working in San Diego.

“First time here and not disappointed. Didn't have a long wait like others said. The doma was excellent. I got the combo to try their meats - beef kabob, chicken Tikka, and beef shawarma. All were seasoned well, especially the shawarma...very bold. But it's the cook on the meat that set them apart! All 3 were tender, juicy, and savory. Too many overcook these but they just melted in my mouth. Highly recommended.“

“Found this place randomly on Google Maps, and I was not disappointed! Service was amazing, and I loved how they sent texts on when to come and it was so easy to order. Even though there is no seating, the service was impeccable. We were greeted by a nice person who served us our food, and it is clear they cooked this with care. Only thing I will say is that I wish Pita bread came with the family meal, but it didn’t bother me enough to impact the quality/review. 🫰💯“
