“My parents have visited in the past and told me that whenever I’m in L.A. to check out Porto’s. Well, I came down from Vegas for the day and as I was getting ready to head back I made sure to stop by the store in Buena Park to pick up some goodies as I was coming from Huntington Beach.I picked up a selection of savory and sweet items to try out. As I am half Cuban I remember eating the same items as my grandmother made and sure enough the items I picked out had spot on flavor. Their double chocolate chocolate chip muffin warmed up is sinfully good. I'll say the best time to go is not on weekend when the crowds and cyclist clubs take over the outside. “My daughter went to SIX bakeries across Southern California for cake tastings. Six. Not kidding. She was very excited about Sweet Taders and thought she finally found the cake she wanted. I was nervous because even though the cake at the tasting g was good, replicating it for a 4-tier cake is very different than serving a smaller slice at a tasting. Holy cow! Not only was the cake itself absolutely gorgeous, the taste was out-of-this world. The cake was moist and light. The filling was creamy and the buttercream frosting was amazing. The overall flavor was light, not too sweet and FRESH! I have never had such an amazing wedding cake ever!! I can't recommend this amazing company enough. I stopped by the shop to get a sense of what they were about and spoke with Penelope's husband who was so passionate about his wife's cakes, I ended up ordering an 8' vanilla butter cream cake. Per their instructions I let the cake sit out for what turned out to be a little over 5 hours before serving and I have to say, this is, without a doubt, the best cake I've ever had and it's not even close. She was not available on our wedding date and I was really sad about it but she suggested I have the cake delivered the day before. It was so great of her to fit me in and work with me to make sure I got the best damn cake for my wedding. I wasn't sure I wanted a cake but when she sent me samples I literally wanted to have a 6 tier cake so we didn't have to choose. It was some of the best cake I have ever tried! All were amazing.
