“After visiting Hijo de su Madre several times for their award winning and phenomenal Yucetecan vegan greatness I was quite excited when I saw on their IG they were adding a vegan burger menu. It just launched a few days ago, but is already my favorite burger (got the Phat Hass Burger) in LA and I have had them all. Even more profoundly, they have the best loaded frots I’ve ever had by a landslide! Run don’t walk to try the new menu (will be on the delivery apps soon!) and then keep coming back because everything on the menu is perfection. 5 stars!!!“
“I can't believe I haven't done a review of this place yet. They do a rotating menu that features different cuisines on a monthly basis. I think the first time I went, they had Fiijian food and the second time they had Haitian. Their classic menu includes Somalian, Egyptian, Kenyan. They hire immigrant chefs that highlight their cultures which I thought was pretty dang cool.I got their pita chips with Baba ghanoush. They deep fry their pita bread but also give unfried pita bread if you prefer. But their pita chips are SO GOOD. it's like... crunchy but also chewy. kind of the best of both worlds. I got a lamb stew one time. or was it goat... It came with rice and a giant lamb shank or something. Bone was still on... kinda cut open and the marrow was still inside! Hell yeah. It was full of flavor. Lots of spice to it but not spice-y. I'm thinking maybe it was the Egyptian smothered lamb shank now that I think about it. I remember also trying some of the sambusas. Deep fried triangles filled with spiced, amazing, piping hot goodness. I love that they allow you to mix and match whatever filling you want... unlike other restaurants that make you order them in batches of 3 or whatever.Service was great. We had THE Christian Davis serving us, bringing us all the plates, describing what everything was and how it was made. An extremely pleasant experience... all for a great cause.“

“The greatest cookies I’ve ever had and it’s setup at a gas station! Amazing cookies and the selection is way more than expected.I had the walnut gooie, cloud 9, the chunkie and the chocolate oatie. All four were delicious and had its own distinctive style. They lived up to the “gooie” expectation and were really filling. I think two cookies were enough to get me good & the others were extra credit. Load up on napkins and the customer service was great.Just be aware the gas station didn’t have whole milk, just 2% but all the cookies were still phenomenal by themselves. I’d definitely come back again to try their other menu items.“

When I say, Troy was on the phone with me for about 30 minutes until we worked out the right package for my 60th birthday party, he was very patient and the rest is history. The service was superb from beginning to end, with little to no supervision. They came in found the perfect space for set-up and it was on and popping. The food was amazing and the staff were very professional and interactive with the guests. There were nothing but compliments for Troy and his team! Highly recommend! Job well done!“

“This is the cutest shop for buying natural wine, cheese, or any other cool girl cookware/homeware items, and I'm happy there's a spot like this on the Westside! I came around lunchtime to try one of their "secret lunch menu" sandwiches and ended up ordering the Hot Girl Salami baguette sandwiches for $12 (since their regular sandwiches were $19). The sandwich was good and was generously stuffed with meat, cheese, and greens, however I wish I ordered the Franch Girl sandwich as the combo of flavors in this sandwich were pretty one-note. I would definitely come back to buy gifts for friends that are into food and wine (and pretty packaging). They had a handful of cookbooks, olive oils, some preserves/sauces, and even beauty products and candles. Bonus points for stocking one of my favorite natty wines, LS Gris by Wavy Wines. It's a very aesthetically pleasing and well curated space, and I'd love to return!“
“This will be the third time we have used Nana's Kitchen. So clearly, we love what they do. The food is fantastic, a step up from your normal taco caterer, and we loved the passed appetizers while the guests were arriving. They set up a beautiful buffet spread and used gorgeous bowls. Everything was fresh and delicous. They homemade the tortillas and served delicious guacomole, again homemade. The servers were ontime, self sufficant and cleaned up after themselves. They boxed up all of the leftovers for us which was really nice.The only negative I could find, and you just need to know, is that beyond the food/catering fee (minimum of $650 for 40 people) they charge a travel fee, a convenience fee to use a credit card, and a 18% service fee which is NOT gratuity. So ontop of the food, you will need to expect to pay about 40 % more on the charges (your own tip to the servers, their 18% service fee and travel fee and of course tax). They are transparent about it, but something you should know. With that being said, I would still use them again.“

The themed menu and decor were the literal talk of the party and all my friends are following up asking for her contact info. Simply fanstastic.“
“This is the kind of resturant where the whole staff care about what they are doing. As a result, the atmosphere is welcoming, the vibes cozy, and the food delicious. It's a perfect spot for a lingering date night. The best part of the night was when Chef Genet herself brought out her famous Dorowat for our party. It's earthy and deeply flavorful, a real treat. The vegetable dishes were my favorites, they all tasted very fresh and bright. A few words of caution, finding parking in the area can be tricky. The space is a little dark and echoy, so guests with vision or hearing problems may struggle.“

Typically, I expect my cone to be assembled in a specific order: ice, ice cream, ice, and then syrup. Unfortunately, the girl behind the counter didn't follow this sequence. Instead, she put the ice cream first, a move that initially caught me off guard. I didn't even realize she had added the ice cream until my observant friend pointed it out, as it was the first thing she did. Consequently, I assumed she had forgotten about my ice cream until I reached the bottom of the cone, where it was disappointingly mixed with water. This unexpected arrangement affected the texture and taste of my dessert, leaving me slightly unsatisfied. Despite this setback, I must commend the flavors of my cone, which were truly delicious. The combination of syrup, guava and mango, was divine, showcasing the potential this place has if the preparation process is improved. Another minor downside was the limited seating inside; the space is quite small, with not many tables available. However, since it wasn't busy during my visit, I managed to find a spot without much trouble. Additionally, I'd like to mention that finding parking on the busy street was a bit challenging, but considering the unique experience and affordable prices, I'd say it's worth the drive. With a few adjustments in the preparation process and perhaps some expansion in the seating area, this place has the potential to become a top-notch dessert destination. I'm optimistic that my next visit will be even better, and I'm looking forward to seeing these improvements in action.“
