“I come here all the time! It's such a great alternative to regular hot pot because you get to choose what ingredients you want :) highly recommend if you're super picky about what's in your soup. The staff are always super nice and greet you with a smile. I will note: most of the service is self-serve so you're expected to make your own sauces and get your own drinks. Overall, I love bringing friends and family here because everyone leaves full and happy“

“This place has been my all-time favorite. It's 'all you can eat style' hot pot, with selection of individual small pot or large shared pot.Lunch after the tax is around 22, and dinner is around 35 per person. There is another vegetarian option as well.Drinks are self served and unlimited. You can order 4 kinds of meet at the beginning. Vegetables, mushrooms, and other items are self-serving.Usually, there is no time limit, but do expect 1 hour limit during busy hours.Few tips. If you order the same kind of meat twice when placing an order, they usually bring you only one plate. The most classic combinations are spicy marrow and original marrow. The seven star pepper beef soup is the best but will cost an extra 8 dollars.“

“This is Taiwan style hotpot which is pretty different from other styles of hot pot. The broth is lighter and tastes more homestyle and there are less crazy chemicals in the soup base. The meat and veg feels higher quality than all you can eat spots. I got a set menu and was super full and couldn’t finish it. Great “

“Driving from Nanwan, the time to join the waiting list is around 5:15 pm, and we will be seated around 7:45. I was so hungry that I went to Jiacheng Kitchen next door to eat spicy hotpot. The overall taste is good, the duck blood and the meat on the skewers are very fresh. I like the pickled beef skewers very much, but I am so useless. It is too spicy to eat just one. There is a lot of room for improvement on the small material table. All in all, it's worth giving it a try.“

“I've been here enough times to confirm the consistency of the quality. I like the MaLaTang offered at this restaurant the most. You pick the items you want included in your MaLa() from a buffet line, your selection is weighed, and they cook it for you. You get to choose 1 of 3 options of how you'd like your MaLa() cooked -- hot pot, stir fry, or something else. You also choose your level of spiciness . I choose 0 spice, but some friends that think they can usually handle mild find level 1 spice to be surprisingly much spicier than what they expect (typically what they consider a 4-5).I love this place since they cook for you, so unlike other hot pot places, there's no chance for you to over-boil your own food. The broth flavor offered here also is savory, and matches my palate. I think some other hot pot places could improve their broth since it's not memorable or anything better than what you make at home.I will continue to go back for the MaLaTang (soup). My friends think this is their best strength on the menu, too. Although the fries look fancy in presentation (they use dry ice in its own bowl and refill the water in the dry ice bowl to continue the show), I found it too greasy but without much flavor or the right crunch to order again.“

“If you hadn't come by to try their Japanese skews, then you must give it a try. No rsvp unless you have more than 5 people. I suggest to come here around 6pm because after 630 to 7, you may have to wait about an hr for a table. The place is quite small enough just like the ones in Japan. I ordered 85% of skew food on the menu. I almost tried it all. They grilled them with good timing, so the skews were too cooked and chewy. The ones that got my attention were pork belly, beef short rib, and the whole squid. These 3 you must try. The whole squid was perfectly grilled with just enough sauce to make it juciy. I have to say this place did a very good job on it compared to other places. I also ordered chicken breasts and thighs. They were nicely cooked. I suggest eating it with some light sauce. Very nice services. I would come back if I were in the hood. Keep up the good work!“

Hot Pot Bros Hot Pot • $$
43829 Boscell Road, Fremont - 7.51 miles

“This store use to be hot pot bros with all you can eat and with bbq and didn’t realize the name change, menu change, table change. I ended up giving it a chance and trying the rebranded or new place now called Nice 2 meet U. Host was friendly and helpful. We were asked to choose our soup base before seating. Hot pot for two people. I ordered half the spicy tallow soup (mild) which was the perfect spice with being brave enough try to be have spicy but not overbearing mala spice type that I cannot eat it. I was indecisive between medium and mild but the host recommended mild since it can be a bit spicy, and so glad I went with his suggestion. I got the herbal soup as the second flavor. Both soups were tasty. As you get to the table, there’s a QR code to scan which primarily is for sliced meats, snacks, appetizers, and drinks. The sauces and fruits are self serve in the center island of the restaurant. Then, stop by and grab a white tray on the counter placed in front of fridge and help yourself to the fridge of skewers of choice: meat, fish, poultry, veggies and more. They also served color trays of seafood, and veggies. The skewers are charged by how many sticks at the end of the bill. I think it’s roughly $0.50 cents a skewer. Just note that the color trays are charged by varying prices from $5 and up from the fridge. I ordered 2 trays of slice beef and 1 order of beef tongue in the QR code at the table. I think 1 tray was good for the beef next time, but I definitely enjoyed the beef tongue more so if I go back I’ll just order the beef tongue only because I enjoy less fat on my meats. I got the honey grapefruit pomelo drink that came in a sealed plastic bottle and I thought it was great pairing with hot pot but I looked at the sugar after and was amazed at the 58g of sugar. Ohh the damage was done lol ?..Gentle reminder to check the menu up front to plan accordingly to what you want to eat if you’re budgeting, and if you’re not, eat until your hearts content. :) Be comfortable with the empty trays being left on your table as that’s how they calculate your bill at the end. There is a bucket on the table to put your used skewers. For the Bill- they charge per soup, sauces, got 1 drink , four seafood trays, 2 trays of veggies, ~ 36 skewers, 2 trays of sliced beef, 1 tray of slice beef tongue, with tax and tips it came out $146 ish. The trays of meat and seafood were the pricey ones. My fav was the shrimp paste balls. I wish they had ponzu or some type of vinaigrette sauce. My waiter was kind and super hardworking. He shared with us that the restaurant is doing an event to ask customers to guess how many skewers you’ve eaten when you’re about to pay. They ask you to guess if we think it’s even or odd numbers and when you guess it right you get some sort of discount. I think I got $5.00/ 5 percent off I couldn’t remember. Only recommendation for improvement: the skewers in the fridge aren’t created equal sometimes. There is 1 skewer in one fish ball roe but then another stick had two skewers for the same fish ball. It can be confusing if one is trying to determine which one is correct, do you pull the extra stick and leave the skewer so you don’t get charged? Do they need signs fishballs- 1 skewer, meat wrapped lettuce is 2 skewers or some type of general sign? I did have to ask for extra napkins and refill for hot water pot I received and I recognize the staff was busy as well so it can’t be helped. However, I definitely would return. I may just opt for no sauces next time as the soup has enough flavor. And a plus if they carry ponzu sauce in the future :).“

WhatEver Nom Nom @Little Dipper Taiwanese •
46573 Mission Blvd #420, Fremont - 9.38 miles

“So hard to say goodbye. My friend texted me on Sunday morning to the sad news that Little Dipper will be permanently closing their doors on Monday, January 9, 2024. Little Dipper has always been one of my favorite hotpot spots. I've been to all 3 of their locations Dublin, Cupertino as well as the original Fremont. I've been coming here for years with either friends and family and they have always treated us with the best service. Always top notch, friendly, patient and happy to help. My kids were younger then and they have never bothered to charge them even as they grew older. This restaurant was definitely about quality and service. With the news of their permanent closure I had to come in one last time. We came in at 7pm on their final day and put our name down. The restaurant was full and plenty of people were waiting to be seated. The server said he doesn't know how people knew but the past 2 weeks were 3x's busier. Word of mouth definitely spread and people had to come in to say their goodbyes. Items on the menu were already crossed out and have been out of stock for the past couple of days. We still decided to wait. We waited about 1.5 hours and were the last group of the night. We asked them to just bring out anything and everything they had left in the kitchen which were mainly veggies and a few seafood items like imitation crab and shrimp. I wished I was able to have a final full on fixings meal at Little Dipper but just being there one last time just made it bittersweet. Richard was giving out brand new Little Dipper plates and cups and people were taking them by the boxes. You can see the sense of happiness and relief him and his workers had as the night ended. He even gave us our meals on the house as well as the generous amount of sake bottles we had. I wish him and his staff the very best and hope to see them in the future! Possibly "Whatever Nom Nom" will open up (Little Dipper opened a ghost kitchen called Whatever Nom Nom - follow on insta: @whatever.nomnom), but whatever it'll be we'll be there to support!“

“Saw this on my Yelp since I tried another Hotpot place. This restaurant used to be TK noodle so it is a good size. The decor is really cute and even has a mural of the top of mission peak and parts of the city. Staff were friendly and helpful explaining things to my son and I about how things work. They have 3 types of AYCE which I think is a really good deal.We chose the second option which was $39 per person. It includes everything in all the refrigerators, skewers, veggies, sliced meat, seafood, noodles and many other various things. They have a lot of soup base options as well as some unique drinks. The quality of the food was really good and we ate until we were totally stuffed.I will definitely go back and suggest you try it out too if you are in the area.“
