“The food is good, affordable and convenient.If you'd like to stay at nice hotel with great service then this is your hotel. My now wife and I met there a few years ago for the first time after 18 years of not seeing each other. I was on a journey with myself and she was on a journey with herself. We closed down the TGIFridays a few exits up and I decided that I didn't want the evening to end so soon. She said yes to getting a room and crown plaza provided a chill ambiance. Yes we are married now and so we appreciate the service, the cleanliness, the convenience and hospitality there at the crown plaza.We had a magical night and it's been getting better every day since that night now more than 4 years ago! “Super cute restaurant inside the Park James Hotel.The only reason this isn’t a five stars because of a few operational issues.There is no parking. They do offer valet but only the first two hours are free. Luckily I found street parking about a block away so good to know that is an option.While the ascetics are beautiful, the comfort level is not great. The chairs are hard and uncomfortable. The backseat cushions on the booth move around as it is hanging on a bar as a freestanding pillow situation.Unfortunately, the lighting kept changing from super bright to dim a few times during the hour and a half we were there.The food is five stars. Everything we had was cooked perfectly with tons of flavor. We started with the calamari. The sauce that came with it was so good.We then decided to share the ceasar salad and the squid ink seafood pasta. The pasta bowl was overflowing with tender seafood. The pasta was cooked perfect and the sauce had a little kick that was a welcome surprise. So good! ?The drinks and deserts were really good as well.The service was attentive, friendly and absolutely lovely. Everyone from the host, to the chef, to the servers were excellent. ??We were there on a Wednesday night and had no problems getting a table, but I can see how on the weekends or sunny days (for the outdoor area) it can get quite busy. Would recommend making sure to have a reservation.They also had live music the night we were there, and the talent was quite good.I will definitely be back for the food, but will be sure to request one of the high top tables or outside seating.“
“A lovely meal. The chef is super creative in the use of vegetables and original sauces. Nice selection of wines by the glass, which our server was happy to let me taste before ordering. Highly recommend the cauliflower starter and the chickpea risotto, which were quite exceptional. The baked cod however was a bit too salty. And we needed to order some bread to cleanse our palate afterwards. They did offer to remake the fish which was thoughtful, but it would have interrupted the flow of our dinner at that stage. That said, it was a great experience overall. And don't skip the s'mores desert!“

“I came across this place while I was door dashing. The menu was unique and the sandwiches sounded good. I got the Tom & Jerry on a Dutch Crunch roll. It came exactly how I ordered it and tasted amazing. There is plenty of sauce on it which I love. The bread was nice and soft too! I wish there was one closer to my house. I'd probably eat here more often. Definitely gonna order again.“

Tables are spread far enough that you are not sitting on top of each other.In terms of Downtown Castro Valley, JP’s is a great family restaurant with tasty comfort food at reasonable prices. “I eat at Pelton Cafe often with friends and family. The staff are always very friendly. Super accommodating. The restaurant is clean. Some mornings there's a line and you have to sign in on a piece of paper. Never had to wait too long. They're great at refilling your coffee.“

“We went to Bistro 880 and purchased the NYE experience. Food was 80 percent seafood with a small salad bar and a roast beef station. Unfortunately, I am allergic to seafood and had the roast beef and salad bar. The dessert bar was amazing. In prior years, the bistro would offer coffee and dessert after midnight. This year, the dessert bar was closed early. As far as the entertainment, the performing band was Stompbox and they were excellent. There were a couple of unruly people on the dance floor and hotel security immediately addressed the issue. Not sure how they gained admittance since they were not seated at a table but rather hanging out at the bar. For a better NYE experience, the establishment should have strictly enforced admittance to those that paid for the NYE experience.“

“Came by here past week and got the hangover with a side of cheese tots This is the antithesis of healthy. Some days gluttony just takes over and who cares about the cholesterols and calories. The hangover could not be eaten by hand. I needed knife and folk to eat this thing. It's a chili burger with eggs. It was very very very good. The cheese tots was interesting. They gave me a separate cup of melted cheese. I dip the tots with it as well as pour some over my hangover burger. Now my chili burger with egg also has melted cheese. What a great idea Didn't take any photos. It was a mess. I actually couldn't finish the tots. The burger by itself is more than enough of a full meal.... need to do a couple hours of cardio to digest... Perhaps I will indulge again when I am craving in and out. I really want to try the sausages...“
“After a long day flying into Oakland from the east coast in December with bad weather, we arrived frazzled & tired but ok. Since we were on east coast time, we just wanted to eat & go to bed. Michael, a front desk attendant, gave us outstanding customer service - the best we have ever seen from a front desk staff. He went out of his way for us as they tried to help us figure out a way to get to Lake Tahoe in between blizzards. There was also a female front desk clerk who was helping also but I forgot her name. He went above and beyond to make our stay. Thank you, Michael. Room was your typical Courtyard. It is an older hotel & definitely needs an upgrade. Good local owned restaurant next door. Right off the interstate 580 & about 20-25 minutes’ drive to Oakland airport without traffic. Cons: Hotel charges for parking. Not sure if they have problems in the area, but it seemed to be safe. It seemed strange to pay for parking for a hotel in the suburbs. If you like my review, I hope you'll click the 'helpful' button; those of us who write reviews live for those and it motivates us to do more.“
“This place has been my go-to after-work spot. Drinks are excellent especially during happy hour. Bbq wings never miss! And the truffle mushroom pizza is great. Not on the menu, but ordering the tater tots & making them garlic tots is heavenly. The staff and service are awesome.“
