“Such a cute hidden gem in Walnut! We came for their famous Hainan chicken rice and potato noodles, and both were so good. The Hainan chicken was super tender and juicy, and the chicken rice was fragrant without being too heavy. I loved having both the ginger scallion sauce and chili sauce on the side too.

The potato noodles were probably my favorite! They are really chewy, comforting, and packed with flavor. We also ordered a bunch of their fried skewers, which were crispy, well-seasoned, and perfect for sharing.

Portions were generous, prices were reasonable.“

The Diamond Tier was awesome with grade A5 the dry aged wagyu was melt in your mouth good! Just as good as what we had in Japan. Brandon cooked them up for us and we enjoyed talking with him. Celebrating my husband's birthday they sing and have some ice creamsicles ube or honeydew flavors. They do have drink stations, some extra food stations, a dessert station all of which you can walk around to grab yourself. The Otoro thick cut and black pepper beef cubes were our other favorites. Can't wait to go back!“

“It was our first time here. Wanted to try somewhere different. It’s more affordable than the places back in Garden Grove. When we first got sat, we were very confused on what to do. Tan came over and helped us out a lot. I observed other workers just pacing around but Tan was the only one hustling from table to table to assist. Food was great. Grill size is a bit limited which was my only complaint. But definitely recommend coming here“

“We stopped by Spirit of Texas Craft Barbecue, located near Arrow Highway and Bonnie Cove, for an early Sunday lunch. We arrived around 11:30 a.m. and decided to make a meal of it.

Today, we tried two of their combo platters, featuring tri-tip and pulled pork. Both came with a side, and we each chose the potato salad. We also grabbed a couple of drinks to round out the meal.

The tri-tip and pulled pork were both delicious, and the potato salad was a great complement to the barbecue.

Everything tasted fresh and homemade, which is exactly what you hope for when visiting a family-owned barbecue restaurant.

One thing I really appreciate about Spirit of Texas is its authenticity. This is a small, family-owned establishment that has been serving the community for years. I was actually here 30 years ago, and remarkably, the place hasn't changed much. They still make their food themselves rather than relying on someone else's kitchen. You can taste the care that goes into what they serve.

I also love their sign explaining that they're open until a certain time or until they run out of food. That tells you everything you need to know. When the food is gone, they're done for the day. It's a good reason to get there early!

There's plenty of parking, including designated ADA parking spaces. There are also signs throughout the lot reminding visitors that parking is for customers only, apparently due to past issues.

If you're looking for authentic, freshly made barbecue from a small family-owned business, I highly recommend making the trip to Spirit of Texas Craft Barbecue.

The lamb belly skewers came out fast and disappeared even faster, smoky at the edges, juicy in the middle, with that charcoal taste staying around for a second. It seems like this could be a great hang out in summer, there is so much space. I don’t know if I came at an off time or they plan to put more stuff in the space but would be nice to see some outdoor games like corn hole, giant connect four for adults & kids, etc. The lighting was cute but I think more was needed because we felt like we were eating in the dark. “Hungry Bird is new in town, and I’m lucky enough to live just a few blocks away. This was my first visit, and I loved it! Everything looked and tasted delicious. They have chicken, beef, seafood, and pork skewers, plus noodles and sushi rolls. I came for the skewers, and I’d definitely come back to try more.

“This place doesn’t take reservations, and the line is always long! I waited almost two hours on a Saturday evening for a party of four. It was VERY loud inside - turns out they had an entertainer named Adam who would sing Chinese and English songs. You could pay $20 for a song request.

You order everything on the tablet. There is a call button on each table to get service. The skewers are good but tiny portions. What’s really good here is the chicken wing! I also really like their malatang and golden soup. The meat in the soups is fatty though.

I got the small bowl. Just the teriyaki chicken and rice. They give you a lot of chicken and big pieces too. They also have extra teriyaki sauce and hot sauce. Ohh and they have free fountain drinks between 2-4 pm. My order was to go. Love this spot.“

Ordered their combo of spicy cold noodles and LA short ribs, noodles is good with the authentic Korean taste, same as the LA ribs, meat were well marinated and grilled with good portion.

The customer service was great,the price was good and the food was excellent. The ginger dressing was tangy and really good for the salad. The chicken and steak was flavorful and the macaroni salad was really good. Until my sister comes home this will be the place we will go to. If you are looking for really good food at a good price I highly recommend hi bbq. Also the staff was really nice and the place is very comfortable.“
