“Amazing Omakase, the quality of the food and the preparation are out of this world. Never had experienced anything like this before, this must come close to the highest standard places in Japan. How should one describe the interior and vibe of the restaurant... reduction to fully focus on the food, I'd say. Intimacy is guaranteed.“

“Redfish was absolutely outstanding! The sushi was incredibly fresh and full of flavor — some of the best we’ve had. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and delicious, the New York strip was tender and flavorful, and the pasta was equally amazing. Every dish was done beautifully.
The service was spectacular — attentive, friendly, and truly elevated the entire dining experience. Levi was our waiter and was absolutely fantastic!
What surprised us most was that the restaurant was nearly empty. With food and service this good, it should be packed! People absolutely need to check this place out. We will definitely be back!“

“Walked in right at opening on a Thursday and sat at the sushi bar with my husband. The vibe of the restaurant feels very cozy, just like being transported back to Japan. We ordered a bottle of nigori sake and the premium omakase experience. We were impressed with each piece given, the fish was obviously fresh and the rice was perfect. (Special mention to the salmon nigiri and the eel roll - still thinking about these bites!) I wish we were given a little more explanation on what each fish was, but with only one sushi chef making everything, it makes sense he needs to focus on customer orders. Our server was very kind and attentive. Will definitely come back next time we’re in West Hollywood!“

“We went to Katana for Dine LA and had a great time! Our waiter was super nice and the vibe was cozy and trendy. The patio has a great view of the street. Food was great too! Definitely recommend for a fun night out in LA. The portions were huge and the quality was great. I can’t wait to go back!“

“This is an effortlessly chic sushi restaurant.
Healthy mix of couples, friends and solo eaters.
It’s easy to sink into the dark wooded, close quarters venue with soft jazz as background noise behind the bustling of the staff.
Infatuation will tell you to order the crispy rice with spicy tuna and sushi moriawise, which a lot of folks were getting.
If you have the $200/person (after tax and tip), it’s a special omakase. The ocean trout with kelp is non-pareil, sweet and umami flavors. Worth a visit.“

“A new Japanese restaurant, “Soma Suisan,” opened summer in 2025 in West Hollywood. The mural of the dragons that I painted while ago is still there even though the restaurant is under a new ownership. I’m so grateful for that. The food is also very delicious and beautiful, so please everyone, check it out!“

“I live close by and went the 3 time this month. I really like it. This evening I brought a group of out of town people to enjoy. Our server was great. Food is always good. Usually the greeter is nice and pleasant. I'd say having nice polite people in the front is a big part of the experience also. People who smile and are helpful. Says a lot about the establishment. This evening it seemed it might have been a manger and she was just okay. Not as nice as I'm usually greeted. Felt brushed off even though I was very nice and checked it for reservation on time. No need to be dismissive or rushed when it's slow and we are dressed well and polite. Specially if it's someone who has keys them looking like they are a smasher if they're in front and the 1st face the guests see.“

“Uchi is pretty decent. The vibe is cool trendy. Service was polite but felt bit rushed and not as personable.
Food-wise, nothing was terrible, but not mind blowing either. A couple of dishes were tasty, a couple were bland, the sushi rice is left to be desired.
Prices felt a bit high for an experience that screams ‘it’s fine. Not in huge rush to be back.“
