“A nice place to have lunch when visiting the US Air Force AcademyThis is located on the United States Air Force Academy Grounds. It is on the north side of Academy drive but to the southeast side of the Academy classrooms and student housing. It is billed as a place for special events and is well suited for that. It is situated on a hill overlooking the golf course and grounds. It has a dedicated parking lot with plenty of parking. I am not sure if you have to call before you arrive but our escorts had a table reserved for us right against the window. You choose your meal and pay before you sit down. The menu was a one-page affair with sandwiches and salads. The dining room was a large hall with large and small tables with north and east-facing windows. The view is pleasant. The food was reasonably priced (most meals are about $10) and came out quickly. The food was very good and the staff was very pleasant. If you get a chance to visit and eat at this location I think you will enjoy it for the food, service, price, and view. Enjoy!“

“We took our kids to the Cheyenne mountain zoo and chose to stay at the Marriott. No one told us the zoo was up hill both ways, but it was beautiful. After deciding we were too tired to go out we had dinner at Ascent. Our server Cameron was fantastic and very polite. We were surprised at the portions and the food was very good. “I loved my stay at Cliff House while visiting Manitou Springs. At check in I was surprised with a complimentary upgrade from a standard king room to a deluxe king. Completely unexpected and so thankful for. The room was clean, had a beautiful view of the mountains, a cozy fireplace, huge bathroom with a jacuzzi bathtub, heated toilet seats, a bathrobe and the personalized welcome message on the tv was a nice touch. Room service was fast and courteous. The valet service was always very fast and friendly as well. I have no complaints, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend Cliff House to others visiting Manitou Springs.“

From the moment we pulled up the drive and the mountain landscape opened up into those breathtaking panoramic views, we knew we had found something truly special. “My son and I stayed overnight in Manitou for my birthday and had breakfast at this old school diner. The owner, who runs the restaurant and cooks himself, was very kind to us and told us to sit wherever and he'd be right with us. His service was very prompt, our orders came out quickly and hot and fresh. My boy smashed his chocolate chip pancakes AND half the eggs and toast from my own order. There were 3 other tables seated as well and everyone was pleased and satisfied. The customers next to us were kind and took a picture of my kiddo and I, too.

“Food was awesome but expect an up charge. The food was good but I personally wouldn’t pay $40 for a trout or $26 for the drinks. Given this is a tourist spot the price was expected.

The meal was actually satisfying though and the ambiance was amazing. I sat at the bar and the bar tender was amazing to talk to and gave great recommendations! The dessert was definitely the highlight, I got their special and the mousse was not too sweet, light, but satisfying. It complemented the vibe and the meal, and the presentation definitely worth every penny. The drink was pretty and refreshing, and the entree was up to expectations.

I also loved the server pointed to me twice that the 20% service fee was included, and it was on the menu and receipt. So no surprises there and the service level was definitely worth the 20%.

Again, great place for a special occasion or if you are just visiting. You won’t be disappointed!“

“UPDATE: My wife and I visited Colorado Springs again this year. And we promised ourselves that if we ever came back this way our evenings would be spent at the Mill Hill Saloon! We love the place! During this trip, we got the chance to meet and speak with the owner Jimmie Bloom. What a great guy! We danced two nights to the Jeffrey Alan Band. And buddy, did they deliver on the classic country music. Sure wish we had the Mill Hill Saloon down in Alabama. Thanks Jimmie for keeping a little piece of Americana alive and well.

The Mill Hill Saloon rocks! This is my kind of country hole-in-the-wall. It's not a big place by no means but it is cozy and friendly. The band there the night my wife and I went was amazing! They played lots of good old country songs you could dance to. And the beer was ICE cold. We had a great time! And shut the lights off when we left. The next time I'm in Colorado Springs, you can bet your boots, I'll be at the Mill Hill Saloon where the good folks are, and the snow flakes aren't.“

“Build your plate. I had brisket, hot links, okra and fries. This is the best restaurant okra I’ve ever had. Being from Mississippi, I know fried okra. The fries and okra are prepared as they are ordered and are served fresh and hot. The fries are nice and firm, not mealy at all. The brisket was good and the hot links too. Portions are generous. The staff is great and the place is clean. I will definitely be back. You can’t miss with this place.“

“We went in on Sunday and learned they were having a special for their birthday. First, the positive is that the burgers, fries and pickles chips were very good. Unfortunately, that is it. The service is though they were trying to make it a bad experience. 1.) We doubled the number of total customers from two to four. The two servers/bartenders seemed annoyed customers took from their chat time. 2.) Took three requests for water to accompany our beers and cider. 3.) Dropped food and walked away. Had to walk over to the far side of the bar to request ketchup and silverware. They were bothered as I had to but into their non-work discussion. 4.) We were watching the Broncos just when the comeback got awesome and the channel/feed changed. Had to again walk over to ask for service. Frowns and slumped shoulders, but it was changed back. 5) When odering our meals, we asked about and told them we were going to get the dessert, but check was presented before asking if we were done. 6.) Bill was larger than expected. Apparently if you add a patty to their Birthday Special, it does not apply - nearly doubles the price. After getting the bill, I asked and they said no add-ons. Okay, but would have been nice to have been informed when ordering. Didn't ask for an adjustment and it certainly was not offered. 6.) I do not recall leaving less than a 15% tip since my early 20's, but went below that today. While leaving, the two were pointing and laughing at us. This was in front of the only table with customers. I received low tips when serving and bartending, and sure, I assumed the customers were cheap, but also thought about what I could I have done better. I served at Guisseppe's and was so wanting a good experience in this awesome building. It was the polar opposite. Understand they have newer owners and I hope their time and investment pays off. Having service employees that like people and their job, would help.“
