“Hidden in the corner, somewhere in Newington. Tokyo Cafe was a pleasantly delicious and wholesome surprise. My partner and I decided to venture out and try somewhere new and we may have just found our new regular spot.The dining room doesn’t have too much seating (6-8 tables max) and I would definitely consider it an intimate but cozy vibe. We frequent sushi of all calibers, this isn’t meant to be compared to Nobu or other establishments of the sort. It is an excellent neighborhood sushi restaurant.The food was fresh and delectable . My partner really enjoyed the Kani Salad as an appetizer. She said it was unique in taste and refreshing. I had a house salad with ginger dressing and the miso soup which was just what I wanted and what you would expect. We also shared the Pepper Tuna Tataki ??? absolutely delightful. I must mention all from the dressing to the consistency of the kani salad, this wasn’t the generic all you can eat, run of the mill spot.The very nice lady that waited on us was very attentive and put care into her work. The Sushi Itamae delivered with a beautiful presentation and construction of the “Sushi Sashimi Combo 4 Us”. We finished the meal off with some fried ice cream and left happy and full. I would recommend this place and we will be returning.“
“A very few and far between authentic asian restaurant here in CT. I have been to Xi'an on multiple occasions and I can truly say the food is AUTHENTIC. Not only is the food great but so is the service. The LiangPi noodles is a well know street food in Xi'an and they have successfully brought it here to my neighborhood. Upon the other dishes I have tried, my personal favorites are the cumin beef noodle, spicy sour lamb dumplings, as well as the pork sauce noodles. I highly recommend this place as this is now my go to food spot!“
“This sushi place was one of my favorite. Recently the rolls are so huge that they always fall apart. They taste ok , but not sure why they make them so big. Also the seaweed is very chewy compared to other places. Not sure if it’s a new chef, but it’s definitely different.“

The bento box came with japchae glass noodles and dumplings- a perfect pairing for someone who loves Korean food. “Little “hole in the wall” type of place. We dined in but they do a ton of takeout because the restaurant is so small. I’m allergic to shellfish and the chef was very careful when making my rolls. “I ordered delivery during lunch time. They have some really great lunch special options, so it seemed like the perfect time to try this place. I ordered the beef negimaki bento box which came with soup, salad, a california roll, rice, and some yakitoried veggies. I was able to add one some tempura for 3 dollars extra and I sure did. Everything was absolutely delicious. It came quickly, and was hot. The tempura (two shrimps, a carrot, and a sweet potato) were crispy, light, and delicious. The salad had the classic carrot ginger dressing I love so much. The negimaki was good, the sauce was not too sweet, and the veggies and california roll all tasted great.I would absolutely order here again, the price was reasonable and the food was delicious.“

“I love to go to Pokemoto. They have really good sauces like the Creamy Miso and make delicious seaweed salad. What I like best about this place is the service though, the servers are always kind and efficient. “My family went here for Hibachi (with the chef preparing food at the Hibachi table) and had a very good experience. The food was good and drinks were reasonably priced for West Hartford and strong. The chef was entertaining and put on a good show. The environment was nice but also kid friendly. There is a 20% service fee for dining in the Hibachi showroom as other reviewers have noted, however there is a sign stating that at the entrance and the server was up front about it as well, so it wasn't a surprise and does make sense given the extra service as part of the experience.I'll definitely come back in the near future!“
“This is my go-to Japanese restaurant, and has been since my first visit in 2017. Food and service quality is excellent whether I've had hibachi, sushi, or the regular restaurant menu. As stated in other reviews, the manager is an outstanding example of team leadership and customer service. For the less adventurous eater, there are a few conventional choices on the menu too. I have taken friends and out-of-state relatives to Sake and all were glad I did.“

I like the ambience. The booths are pretty private. You have to walk down a flight of steps and it feels like you're not even in downtown Middletown. The menu is extensive. Almost too big. Despite this, I've never had something I didn't love at Mikado. They've done everything well so far. The service is great, good portions and a variety of options.“

“We came in for lunch on a holiday so there were not many people in the restaurant. Each of us ordered something different. My chicken lo mein was delicious and the portion was quite large. My husband had several sushi rolls which were fresh and delicious. One of my sons got the hibachi lunch and loved it. My other son got a teriyaki bento box. This was his first time trying sushi and he loved it as well. The waitstaff was friendly and extremely kind.
