“Been around pizza all my life. Wooster Street always a favorite, but I gotta say LaMonaco's in Northford has been our go to for years now. They are consistently the best our family has had, ever. The folks down there are delightful and kind and the food is outstanding. This time, they had pizza and I finished a large calzone that was the best I've ever had. “We found a local ? gem last Wednesday! We were driving by and decided to stop at Giovanni's. We ordered a large 18" pizza with precooked bacon, black olives, mushrooms & onions. Thin and DELICIOUS.?The waitress was awesome, very attentive, and efficient.We will go back and thank you! ?“
“I hired Jimmie for my wedding which was in June. He was very responsive and easy to work with leading up to the big day. He was in communication with my wedding planner because we were having some concerns about the other food truck we booked. Literally during ceremony, we found out our second food truck was not coming. Jimmie called his wife and sister-in-law who immediately drove up to our venue (which is an hour drive from most) to assist him in feeding our whole wedding party. Jimmie stepped up and handled the situation so smoothly , we are so grateful for him. & the pizza was absolutely amazing. Big Mac Pizza!!! He had a variety of pizzas out all night which the guests still rave about. We cannot thank him enough for saving our wedding...without him we would have been without food for our 90 guests.“

It's not up for debate, it's not an opinion, it's an empirical fact.I have NEVER had a bad experience doing business with them.Dine-in: FIVE STARS.Take-out: FIVE STARS.Their customer service: not even a contest! Always so polite, kind, accommodating, and really care about giving you a positive experience.My favorite nuances withheld in Modern's perfectly cooked dough are:-The subtle sweetness that arrives on the back end of every bite that I believe is in the dough and not the sauce (correct me if I'm wrong).-Their pies produce the absolute perfect bubble.-The dough has a really good bouncy mouthfeel without being overly floppy.-Exceptional sauce, very bright and flavorful.-Good sauce/dough/cheese ratio.-Clutch undercarriage.The best way to measure the worth of any pizza is with a plain cheese pie.I've waited about 3 years, maybe a little more, to post this review. “This place make you feel like you’re eating in front of Lungomare Mergellina in NAPLES, Italy. Absolutely fantastic pizza, pasta and everything you see on the menu. If you’re familiar with a real and authentic pizza this is the right place for you, won’t find a place like this in the whole state of CT. Food is fresh, pizza is not greasy like every other place you go and your stomach doesn’t feel heavy after eating here. You smell authentic as soon as you walk in. “Moe and George did a phenomenal job at our team building event back in early October. Weeks later everyone is still talking about it. We use the Big Green Truck every year for employee appreciation day. Each year they amaze us with their awesome customer service and delicious food. They will forever be our favorite truck at Hubbell !“
“Every time I stop by to get a slice I am greeted with kindness and respect and always feel welcome. It's nice they're open late. It's a great place to grab a slice on your way home after a fun night out. The pesto pizza is very tasty. Buffalo chicken is good, too. It gets crowded on weekends during the school year. Enjoy the glow from the oven and elbow in among the irrepressible chatter of the students or take your pie to go.“

While there are lots of great spots, there are 3 spots that are consistently in the discussion: Frank Pepe’s, Sally’s Apizza and Modern.Having read several books about pizza over the years, in connection with my responsibilities as a pizza reviewer for the Wildwood Pizza Tour, I had heard the names of these pizzerias in the past. Pepe’s is the New Haven originator and, in a documentary I skimmed, the location that my hero Henry Winkler, the Fonz, recommended! Say no more!Trying to delay dinner as late as possible after crippling overindulgence and J. Timothy’s Tavern and B.T.’s Smokehouse earlier in the day, I walked into Pepe’s at 9:15 on a Tuesday night. I ordered the classic pizza with mozzarella. On a cold, rainy New Haven night, a hot pizza from the Pepe’s coal fired oven really hit the spot.Frank Pepe’s original skills came from being a baker, so the dough is one of the highlights. In the coal fired oven, it gets a bit of a chewyness and char. If I’m being honest, I didn’t find this pizza particularly unique compared to other coal fired pizzas I’ve had over the years, but the ingredients are very good and it is done well. I imagine this place is very consistent in its preparation. As much as I love delivery, this feels like a pizza you have to eat in the restaurant right out of the oven for best results.I should also note that the Foxon Park Diet Cola, served in Pepe’s for decades, was surprisingly excellent — a highly unlikely possibility in my experience sampling colas made by companies I don’t recognize.I questioned if I could possibly eat all three of New Haven’s most famous pizzerias in one night and that was not even remotely a possibility by the end of this day…but I can’t wait to get back and try the others some time in the future.“
“I kind of stumbled over this restaurant and I'm so glad I did !!! I have been here approx 4 times and every time the meal has been delicious, from the very friendly waitstaff. Every time I have been here we have ordered the hot antipasto which included two baked stuffed shrimp, two stuffed mushrooms, and two clams casino, along with the appetizer came a warm basket of homemade bread with butter. We had the New England Clam chowder and it was perfect I had a veal dish with mushrooms and prosciutto over noodles. Perfect did I say fresh mushrooms my brother had the zuppe di pesce, which he totally enjoyed. He got it without the calamari and another basket of warm bread. If you're looking for delicious Italian food with a very friendly waitstaff this is the place to go. I almost didn't write this review as I don't want to see the place over crowded lol but it's well deserved. We were there last night and will be back again. Very cute place inside“
“Got a small Dave + hot oil, as well as a Tomato Pistachio Pesto. Both were delicious, and I could have eaten the Dave all in one go if I didn’t get two pies. Clean and well decorated place with attentive and quick service. Absolutely worth a visit!“
