We ended up talking with our neighbors who are up from Brooklyn, New York and Milford, Connecticut visiting because they had heard such good things about the restaurant . “I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of Zuppa until recently - this is totally a hidden gem! Everything was so flavorful, even the olive oil with fresh Italian bread! You can tell everything is made from scratch, and even the drinks were fantastic. The calamari was crispy and served with such a good marinara sauce that I could’ve drank honestly, and the meatballs were fantastic. Delicious French onion soup and Caesar salad, and the chicken Milanese was piled with arugula and veggies. The pork chop was super tender and the homemade cheesecake for dessert was a great way to end the meal. I can’t wait to visit again already! “We’ve been trying several different pizza spots around town but always come back to this place. They have so much variety and a selection of white pizza’s (which are my fave). When we have out of town guests we usually order from here and people are always complimenting it. I usually order online but my father went in one day and talked to the owners and came back saying how nice they were. Pizza Italia is our go to!“

“My family and I walked into paesanos pasta house and I ordered an medium pizza which was ready in only 15 minutes but what impressed me was I also ordered a 2nd pizza an extra large for my mother and I was able to watch the cook make the pizza by handstand the whole order both pizzas were ready to go in about 40 minutes or less highly recommend to try their pizzas. Escarole, beans and sausage, long hot peppers in a marinara sauce, and a huge meatball for our appetizers were all amazing. “We called for take out to Puglia, we weren't in the mood for pizza so we decided on dinners. What a fantastic choice. My wife got chicken français and I chose linguini and shrimp with a scampi sauce. Both our dinner came with a generous salad and homemade bread. What a great addition to Southbury! The wood fired oven and pizzas looked amazing as well. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.“

“We went for dinner tonight. My parents love it and took us for my husbands birthday. Food was great! Such big portions and so many shrimp in my Nana’s dish, and it was delish! But what I really want to comment on is that I informed the waitress my son had a peanut allergy. She said they didn’t have anything with peanuts but would inform them. She came back with a picture of the back of the bread wrapper to show me the ingredients to make sure his grilled cheese was safe. I appreciated that more than they know. As a new mom who is also new to the allergy world I’m just learning and the fact that they thought to show me the ingredients says so much. Usually people think if there are no peanuts it’s safe, but you knew enough to look at the ingredients in the bread and go the step further to show me, and I thank you for that!“

“After much anticipation, my fiancé and I went to Diorio to celebrate our anniversary several months ago! This spot has been high on my list of restaurants to visit ever since they reopened after COVID and remodeling. The interior was so charming, with a classy vintage feel that I absolutely loved. The menu definitely had some good choices, and while everything we ordered was good, we did agree that we’ve had better. Mostly we thought my fiancé’s ribeye could’ve used more seasoning, but the truffle butter that he had with it definitely added to the flavor. The pasta with my chicken parm was a bit cold, so it must’ve been plated before the chicken. One of the highlights for us though was when the waitress came around with a platter to showcase their desserts - it helped us make our decision on the banana banoffee and chocolate cake. The banoffee was excellent, but the chocolate cake was a little dry. Overall, I do think this is a great option to have in downtown Waterbury, and I would still come back to try some other dishes. We came on a weeknight and were impressed to see that it got pretty busy at peak dinner time!“

Both were very delicious especially with that crunchy crust not too crunchy but just perfect. The family there was very nice, helpful and funny. “We were traveling through the arena on Hwy 84 at 6 am and wanted coffee. Caffe Italia was the only place open so we drove into Waterbury. Winding our way there we almost decided to turn around and then…there it was. This was like walking into a little Italian neighborhood hangout….with EXCELLENT espresso! At 6 am there was a group of local Italians, reading papers, playing cards and generally sharing the days news. It felt like being at home with family. Great atmosphere! Lots of specialty Italian food, cheeses etc. Super nice guy who made our espresso. We would definitely stop in again for more!“

We were seated promptly upon arrival in a corner booth which was out of the way and perfect for our date. Or server was attentive and answered all of our questions on the menu. We ordered a martini and Pinot noir with a large meatball appetizer. The drinks were very good and the meatball was amazing. Honestly l could've been our meal for the evening. We ordered a shrimp and scallops scampi and an angel hairAlfredo. We completed the night with a very rich tiramisu. All of our dishes were excellent. Items that stood out for me was the owner's attentiveness to his patrons. He stopped at every table checking up on service and needs. Super friendly that set a nice tone for our dinner. Andrea Boccelli served as background music for our stay. D'Amelio did have a small private lot but it was very tight but there is street parking available. I look forward to our next visit. Upon entering the establishment we were immediately greeted by Dom, the owner of the restaurant, who kindly sat us at the bar as we requested. The atmosphere was very welcoming - We honestly compared the vibe to Goodfellas/Encore in New Haven, except more casual and easy-going, if that makes sense. We ordered the New York strip steak and the Veal Sorrentino and both dishes were *chef's kiss*. The only thing better than the food were the drinks. I highly recommend the espresso martini. Overall, we definitely will be visiting again - good food, great drinks, and amazing service.“

“Back in December 2022 I had my baby shower at East Street Eatery, and it was amazing. The food, the service the atmosphere was absolutely perfect. So perfect I came back to have my daughter’s first birthday party in 2/2024, and once again it was amazing. The service was impeccable, we had Nancy running our room and she was phenomenal. Gina, the manager is so attentive and was there to answer all my questions throughout the whole planning process. The food was so good, all my guests talked about how good it was. The price is so reasonable, for what you get. And we actually left with leftovers! Highly recommend for any occasion!“

“I forgot to mention on my last review that we always get a vegan pizza to go with our dinners. It is really great crispy pizza with vegetables on top but no cheese. I'm sure all the other pizzas are equally delicious. Lasts for days in the fridge and can be reheated in oven- not microwave because that makes the crust mushy! Really good place!“

“Wasn't sure about this place when we pulled in to the parking lot but so glad we gave it a try . I ordered the Zuppa di pesce ( one of my favorite hard to find meals ) absolutely everything I was hoping it would be and more . Very extensive menu if you can't find something here to tickle your taste buds maybe your not human . The service was awesome. The restaurant itself ain't very fancy but a steady flow of traffic of people picking up and calling in for orders . They are definitely doing something right . Me and the wife was in from out of town for a funeral. And we was very satisfied with our meals and service . So if your in the area this place is definitely worth the stop .“

“So despite the name, Big Daddys does have eat-in service, and also appears to be part of a gas station? The location is a bit off the beaten path, but plenty of parking. I found a certificate on Restaurants.com for the pizzeria, and it was a good deal. Lunch and dinner at a discount! The burgers were pretty large, as were the fries if you ordered them as a side. The pizza had more of a tomato-acidy sauce than sweet, but a good amount of cheese. You could order by the slice inside. There is also ice cream, onion rings in the hot food area, and baked goods wrapped for desserts. There's both Coke and Pepsi in the coolers, and chips behind the window side booths. They also have a bar area and sell on Slice! Big Daddys also does local delivery on certain days in the evening. Goodness, there's a lot going on. Plus, a good flow of pick up orders. The gentlemen at the register seemed to have a good handle on things though.“
