24 Best Mexican Restaurants in Fort Myers

“Great food, great service. Have gotten food there countless times. Always call ahead and order first if you can. The place is usually busy and it's about a 15 minute wait for carryout if you don't call ahead. They have a few spots to sit and eat inside and a couple of tables outside. It's in a gas station. What do you expect. But the food is always delicious. I mean every time it's delicious. Try the chicken chimichanga. It's fried but it's not oily at all. I don't know how they do it. Also, the breakfast burrito is stuffed with goodness and it's a very fair price.”

“Great family-owned authentic food with a very low-key atmosphere. Excellent food, especially the tacos and carnitas. Also has great horchata--sweet enough and not watery. Salsas are also a draw, but be forewarned--the hottest is actually pretty spicy.”

“We enjoyed our dinner here. The food was good and decent portions. I would not suggest coming here if you are in a hurry but it was fine for us. I would not say it was super inexpensive as some have said. They don’t seem to have Ala carte tacos or other items so you have to order a dinner that is maybe $13 or so which is fair. It can easily end up costing $25 per person with tip without ordering any alcohol. This is including a shared appetizer and a plastic bottle of water. The restaurant primarily has Spanish speaking people and can get quite crowded. It’s pretty basic inside. I think they may have added an extra fee for using a credit card but I could be wrong. It’s not quite clear what the etiquette is for paying the bill. I think most people just went up to the register and they calculated the bill there. They only have bottled water so that is an extra expense if you just want water. It would have been nice to leave with an itemized bill but they keep that and just give the credit card receipt. Anyway we enjoyed the experience but wanted to share a few observations.”

“Came in for dinner on a Saturday night and everything was SO GOOD. We split guacamole as an appetizer then tacos and a burrito for entrees. Food was fresh and made to order. Our waitress was very kind and took our order immediately. This is definitely our new favorite Mexican spot!”

“I ordered their smoked carnitas chimichanga with queso and it was amazing. My fiancé enjoyed his picodillo beef wet burrito. We also really enjoyed the queso, it was so rich in flavor. The service provided by Victoria was excellent. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend.”

“Great Service! The best for how busy they are, it’s amazing to see how good they are at running this restaurant. The margaritas are the best, authentic tacos with homemade tortillas. Tex mex selection was 5* w/ green salsa you can’t believe how much you’ll love this place. Great Music and Great Food!”

“This is probably one of the best places in Fort Myers. Definitely the best Mexican place. Their burritos and quesadillas are amazing. If you don't know what you want, ask the woman who runs the place. She is there everyday and works really hard. She has recommended the steak and the carnitas before, and they were both excellent. Whenever I've had carnitas before, they have always been dry, but not here. Extremely flavorful. Definitely worth the money and more. Bring cash.”

“Excellent lunch for the 3 of us. Would recommend this little family owned restaurant to everyone. Homemade taco shells and a nice little homemade hot sauce to go with them. Wife got Fiesta Plate that was large enough to put her to sleep. Would definitely come back. Thank you Rosa.”

“Located in the food market portion of a gas station. Very limited seating. We were lucky to score one of the two tables. You order your food at one place. Then you go to the food market to buy your fountain drinks. No one to keep the tables clean but there were paper towels and a sink and soap to do the job yourself. So five stars you are asking? Well the food was really good and really reasonably priced. When we got there it wasn't very busy. In about 30 mins that completely changed. It seemed like THE PLACE to be if Spanish was your native language. I think we were the only English primary speakers. It didn't seem to matter. When everyone is having a good time, eating good food--well language seems less important. (and I once again found myself wishing I had minored in Spanish rather than French!)If you go there, make sure you look at the various foods on sale. I just followed one of the customers and got one of everything he was getting. I am not sure what it is but so far I haven't been disappointed in any of his choices. LOL”

“El Local is the best choice for authentic Mexican food in SWFL! The chips and guacamole were fresh and flavorful, and the tacos were cooked perfectly. The steak tacos were juicy and tender, and the pastor tacos were crispy and well-seasoned. My husband's burrito was huge and packed with meat, beans, and rice. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We will definitely be back!”

“It was Tuesday and I wanted Tacos lol. We were leaving Ft. Myers Beach and randomly chose this place. It's just a little hole in the wall but wow. We got beef and shrimp tacos, chips and salsa and some Pico de Gallo. Everything was delicious. The staff was quick and friendly and our food was prepared super fast. We'll definitely be going back to try some of the other items on their menu.”

“If you want good food, good service and just a really nice place to sit down and have a good meal, or pickup to take home - right here. This place. Daniela is one of those rare folks you find that work hard, stay humble and just a pleasure to talk to - and she keeps the food coming out! They are family owned and operated (best kind of local place to support!) And the food! So many choices! Truly tasty, authentic - nice spicy sauce for good crunchy chips to start. Had there soft corn and flour tacos, chorizo con pappa, carne asada, rice , refried beans - mmm! All good! Only complaint was I needed one more person to eat with me haha”

“The location is weird. When I went there they were working on the street so I had to drive down the turn around and that’s not the point. The tacos were okay. I had these a few months ago so the taste is not that fresh in my mind. It’s also not standing out either. I think I paid the most I ever paid for tacos from this spot. There was a language barrier so I’m not sure what happened.”

“Words cannot explain how much I love this place. I travel back to fort Myers once a month and I eat from here 90% of my trip. The amount, taste and quality of the food makes every penny worth it. I have not gone to another taco truck since finding this one. Come here, you will not be disappointed”

“walked in on a Sunday morning around 10a before heading to the airport and it was quiet. Service was quick, food was great. The nacho plate easily feeds 2-3 people. Steak and pastor tacos were a nice size with good flavor. But lunch rush came in shortly after, so come early. Seating fills up quick”

“My favorite taco place! Right off Palm beach Blvd. Their green sauce is to die for, has a kick that no other place can compare. Service is always awesome, quick, and gracious. I come probably twice a week at this point after trying other trucks in the area, this is by far the best in Fort Myers.”

“I have been a few times lately (and just again tonight). Staff is incredibly attentive, always willing to help. I always feel like the wait for a table and for food is super reasonable and that the hosts/servers are always on top of it. I was in a large party and the food was out for the entire table in less than a half an hour, hot and ready. And I haven’t even said how fantastic the food is yet! I have yet to have a subpar meal. The cuisine is so varied, I’m starting to have a hard time picking! The drink selection is a lot of fun and the desserts are to die for (I recommend the Mexican apple pie. It’s not to be missed). In a culture with so many chain restaurants and so little service, I so appreciate the care and quality of Cantina Laredo. Highly, highly recommend.”

“I missed the little girls name helping us, but she was very kind, and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to her. The ice cream here was delicious, and my kids couldn't get enough. The Horchata was UHHHmazing! Definitely recommend getting this and the chips when going here.”

“3 peppers is my family’s favorite spot in all of Fort Myers. Liany and Chris truly have created a unique and fun and efficient atmosphere where you get to enjoy from the smile you get when you walk in, all the way to the stuffed fulfilled feeling on the way out.Thank you both for another great experience!”

“Interesting find in Fort Myers, looks a bit run down and the POS system is nit the best, with some hand written notes as well as some parts being entered into computer, errors were made but corrected promptly. This was the 3rd seeming restaurant in Fort Myers we went to, and it was the first one that was actually serving food on a Ssunday. Somewhat understaffed, but the staff was very helpful. Tacos and Tostadas were amazing. Quality proteins with fresh toppings. Amazing prices. They have home pickled jalapeños that are great! As are their homemade hot sauces. Recommend if you're looking for a quick lunch in Fort Myers!!!Parking: Limited number of spots on side of building.”

“Delicious food and a great staff. The atmosphere is very nice (music playing in the background, but not too loud). We started with the shrimp cocktail which came with fresh tortilla chips (I’m talking hot and straight out of the fryer). We also had chips and salsa which again had the fresh chips and delicious salsa. For the entrees, I had the fried pork and my wife had the pork carnitas. Both came with Spanish rice and refried beans. I can definitely tell everything was fresh and nothing came from a can.I pride myself in my Mexican cuisine cooking abilities, and the food here gave me a run for my money.”
