“We hosted a group of 20+ high school senior football players for dinner last night at The Lodge and everything was exceptional. From working with Gabriella on the event, to Chris handling the food and beverage pre-orders, Alexis was amazing with our group. Super flexible and easy going as a server with our guests at this function. The food was OUTSTANDING! In fact, we ordered two more rounds of appetizers throughout the night - even after entrees were coming out because the boys liked them so much - thank you to Adam & Co. for continually delivering food to this hungry crowd. One mom texted this morning saying her son said it was the best food he ever had.

Separate from last evening, The Lodge always has incredible customer service with long term staff, which is always a good sign. From Matt the Food & Beverage Director, Victor - server extraordinaire ( and practically part of our family), and Adam who is always on shift when we decide to go to the Lodge and greets us with a smile and great service. This great team along with all those that made last night a huge success are truly outstanding. Thank you.“

Located in a strip center inside a liquor store (Dive wine & Spirits) this was easily the most unique location we’ve dined in over the last several months. We’re always looking for small owner operated restaurants and this one fit the bill with 5 tables seating 32 and a bar that seats 10. The menu varies day-to-day quite a bit and we came on wine & pasta night.

We arrived a little bit early and decided to have a pre-dinner cocktail in the Dive bar. The Dive bar is located in the back of the liquor store and accessed through a sliding freezer door. The bar seats about 10 and there is also a couch and some seating off to the side. It’s a bit dark in the bar, but the boxes stacked floor to ceiling give it a special ambiance and it almost feels like you’re sitting in a speakeasy room that’s a half bar - half storage. The bar menu had a good deal of craft cocktails - pretty unique stuff.

We eventually moved to the Hive which is the restaurant. It’s accessed through a different part of the liquor store and didn’t open till 6 PM. All five tables are high tops with chairs that had backs. Table spacing was good and the noise level was never loud due our meal. Because it was pasta night there were scenes of Italy scrolling on TV screens.

On arrival we were warmly greeted and seated by Michael who would be our waiter. We were never rushed throughout the meal and he would check back often to make sure we’re doing OK.

The menu was one page long and printed for the night. Between the four of us we ordered two appetizers and three different entrées.

The peaches & whipped ricotta was served with focaccia bread. The peaches gave the ricotta a nice flavor. Portion was shareable.

The burrata and prosciutto appetizer came out on a bed of arugula. Nice presentation, good portion and good flavor throughout. also shareable.

I find it hard to pass up a good Bolognese, and this one was unique in that it was cream-based with malfadine pasta. Portion was good and the flavor was outstanding. I finished the entire bowl. Should be noted they make all their own pastas.

Two others ordered the shrimp and scallop Florentine. The portion was nice with lots of shrimp and scallops. Great flavor that we accentuated with some red pepper seeds to give it a little kick.

The last entrée was chicken Milanese with shrimp substituted for the chicken. Great flavor and lots of shrimp.

We did not order dessert. Between the appetizers and the entrées, we were all full. In the future, we would split the appetizers.

Between the unique atmosphere, great service and excellent food we had an enjoyable and memorable evening here at the Hive. I feel like we were lucky to get a reservation. Although the restaurant was not crowded when we were there, I think in the future it will be based on our experience. We also like the fact that the menu varies.“

“The food and service did not disappoint. My wife had the mahi tuna salad. It was excellent and crunchy as described on the menu I had scallops. They were perfectly cooked and very tender. Service was very good. Everything arrived timely hot, and the waiter did not hover have eaten at hundreds of restaurants and this is one of the better onesnot exceptionally expensive and in a mall but quite good food and service and I highly recommend.“

“Our experience was nothing short of exceptional! Matthew, our server, was great — he helped us put together a custom flatbread and made a point of flagging our gluten allergy to the chef so we didn’t have to stress about it. That flatbread ended up being the star of the night, loaded with flavor start to finish. For entrees, we both went with the filet mignon, and it came out cooked exactly right. “Food is very good, especially their subs, actually the best sub i have ever had here in sarasota. i also love their frozen raviolis, Pastosa brand, which are imo the best frozen raviolis you can buy. their prepared foods are really good also. as for the actual market, like specialty items, not bad , but when your comparing it to mazzaros in st. petes, its just ok.“

“My husband and I recently had the pleasure if dining at Sophie’s, in Saks Fifth Avenue in Sarasota. What an amazing experience. The decor both inside and outside so chic. We had Matty as our waitress. She was spot on with top notch service and a wonderful personality. We started with a bread basket of assorted toppings, delicious. He had the Tai chicken. Well prepared and perfect with seasoning. I had on of the best burger ever. Cooked and seasoned perfectly at medium rare with tasty fries. The meatball appetizer with ricotta and crostini is suitable for a small individual meal. The food was amazing, everything ran smoothly, and the staff was friendly, professional, and efficient throughout the night. I had to leave a bit early, and the staff was kind enough to neatly place my decorations together so I could easily pack them up the next day, which I truly appreciated. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team to host our event. Highly recommend Cafe Amici for any private party or special occasion“
