“This is a slice of home in a corner spot. I felt like I was in my Aunt/ Grannies house on Sunday. The food was stellar, and the ambiance warm. If you understand Southern style, this will be nostalgic. They can't manufacture or replicate this type of atmosphere in a big chain. Now I need to visit at least once per week so I can feed my soul. I had 3 plates of food and was so full, but as we drove off I wish I had eaten more.“

“This is the best bar on the southside. Manny is the best bartender in my opinion. He always acknowledges you when you come in and makes sure you have a good time. Nick and a few other staff also are good about stepping in to help out it make's your experience great. This bar gives you that home away from home vibe most of us in our 30s look for.“

“We had just flown in from Austin to Atlanta and it was late so we wanted something to eat, we decided on Kenny’s. I was awestruck when we walked in, I could tell they were going for a “run-down” aesthetic and it totally worked. Most of the restaurant was a dance floor, that’s the only reason half the rooms would be empty, and random things like a ladder and a paint can were around the area for us to find. The 70s movie about heroin really added to the vibe. We were completely alone which must mean that everyone else ate it so fast that they were already gone. I ordered chicken tenders and fries. I could tell this was a high end hole in the wall because of the empty cafeteria style serving area and the exclusive use of to-go foam trays. The two men behind the counter had thick Mexican accents one wore a nirvana shirt, how fancy! When I went to go get my drink I was amazed to see that they had three flavors of kool-aid! I’ve never seen a restaurant like that! We sat down at one of the 5 tables in the 4 large rooms. After a short time our food came, when I tried it I understood how it was a tribute to mid food everywhere, it was profoundly meh 🫤 I was enchanted. Then we left.“

“I stumbled on South Fork about a month ago and I’m so glad that I did. The food and atmosphere take me back to going to my Aunt Tommy’s house on Sundays when I was a kid. The meals are top notch and the staff is warm and welcoming. Definitely recommend. (Also—don’t sleep on the baked chicken.)“

“I had a good meal at Walter's Soul Food Cafe. The menu had a nice selection of Southern-style dishes, and I liked the homestyle feel of the food. The portions were generous, and the staff were friendly. Service could be a little slow when things got busy, and the food could be more consistent, but overall I enjoyed my visit. I'd consider coming back to try something else on the menu.“

I'm choosing to update and not delete my previous comments on the food because I want people to see what my honest first review was when I first tried the food many, many years ago.

But I have to be completely honest and say I literally dang near moved down the street and around the corner and I have consistently been up in Annie Laura's face and their food has been NOTHING but consistent and good! Not sure who was doing the cooking back in the day but whoever they got in there now the team they have in there now baby they be handling business!
The collard greens with the turkey meat still hitting, the stuffing and gravy is is better now than it has ever been. I literally will just get the stuffing and the gravy by itself with collard greens and just straight smash it! Now they're not over the top friendly but they're definitely not rude and they're not mean they just work very very hard there!
So thank you Annie Laura's for keeping me fed with some good food that has been consistent and yummy!!“

“Sarah 'put her foot" in every dish. Fried chicken and pork chops were spectacular. Had black-eyed peas, Collard greens, green beans, candied Yams and fried Okra. No frozen veggies here! All fresh and delicious. Rolls and Cornbread muffins were special, too. ❤️ this place!“

“I have been wanting to try this place for a minute. Today I couldn’t decide what to eat and decided to give them a try. So happy I did. Those smoked wings were chefs kiss! Most times when I get wings I don’t get sides but today I did and that Mac N Cheese was everything I didn’t expect!!! Now typically when I get 2 sides one of them not good but the way I ate those greens! I found my new spot. Unfortunately they didn’t have salmon for me to get for my husband, but I’ll be back!“

“I visited Smokez because it's a neighborhood black owned business and I wanted to support. I ordered grilled chicken and it did not disappoint. Please note, the food is pricy, I paid approximately 15 dollars for 2 leg quarters. I'm glad I tried them out. The young lady at the window was a delight. She is extremely friendly. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I can't complain about anything.“
