“Their sushi cake exceeded our expectations. It was so delicious and almost too pretty to eat! The 2 guys working when I picked up were awesome! Super friendly and one even took the time to show me the cake and gave tips on how to cut and eat it! Their customer service from ordering to pick up was exceptional!“

“Some of the best sushi you will ever have... Owner and staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and the sushi/poke is outstanding. Aloha Sushi is a must visit for local, fresh, amazing sushi, and if the sushi doesn't make you want to come back for more, the friendly owner/staff certainly will.“

“First off a pretty speechless experience. Every worker takes the time to make everyone feel like friends and family which makes it feel as if your family member or friend is cooking for you. The food quality was really nice with plenty of options. Aung goes above and beyond service and won our hearts. We will definitely be back again.“

“Chef Ray puts so much care and thoughfulness into his food you can taste it in every bite. Dehydrating Shizo leafs and once garnished with lemon the dehydrated powder turns a spectacular and tasteful red colour. The wonderful Haikiado scallops and uni combination was delightful. The home made cherry blossom salt garnishing was not only beautiful it added a glorious dimension to the white fish sashimi. The cost is high but the omikaze is worth every bite!“

“Craaaaazy good omakase. It truly felt like we were back in Japan. This place is well off the beaten trail, seats 12, and is tucked away in a seemingly mostly empty shopping center. Don't be discouraged. The moment you open the door you're transported to a wonderful little sushi bar. Staff was extremely friendly. Omakase options come in $100, $150, and $300 offerings. We did $150 and were satiated, leaving full but not stuffed. The menu was interesting and unique, making dinner feel special.
I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough if you're looking for a unique experience - and want to get out of the touristy side of Waikiki.“

“My wife and I came here for her birthday and it was such an amazing experience from the sushi to the service. The atmosphere was very intimate and the chef was so intricately detailed when preparing each Nigiri. He even noticed my wife was left handed and preferred smaller bites and adjusted for her. Every Nigiri was subarashi but I really loved the ankimo temaki and the Kichiji (which they called Kinki). Oh and the tamago was nothing like we've ever had before, so soft with more complex flavors compared to regular tamago. Im looking forward to coming here again for next special occasion.“
“The sushi you can experience at Amaterasu is beautiful, respectful of tradition, and above all, superbly delicious. Temperature, texture, carefully aged sakana, and the impeccable rice all plays towards a sublime dining experience. I find it rare to encounter such a strong bond with all elements of a dining experience. The chef, attentive staff, and conversation makes the omakase experience truly memorable. When was the last time you might have felt that way? There are many choices for sushi in Honolulu, and you might have a favorite. Might I persuade you to indulge here? I hope so. You may have to forego dining out for a bit, but if you love sushi like I love sushi, this is the perfect place.“

“I’ve had a lot of fancy meals in a lot of fancy places and this was one of the more magical experiences. Would recommend without reservation or concern.
In reading other reviews I don’t think the add on feedback is fair—it’s pretty common for omakase spots on the west coast and the pricing was reasonable per slice. I can’t speak to the decline in food quality since my first time was Oct 25 but everything I had was wonderful with a clear POV“

“Looking for great sushi in Waikiki? Furusato can fulfill that need. If you sit at the sushi bar, you can watch the chefs prepare everything right in front of you.
The food was excellent. I ordered the Diamond Head Roll and Toro Nigiri and enjoyed a glass of plum wine. The atmosphere is chill and quaint, though the space is small and fills up quickly. Service was attentive as well, definitely a must-try if you’re in Waikiki.“

“The best Seafood Tempura in Hawaii! Scallops, calamari, shrimp, crab, ahi & assorted veggies. Light, crispy and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended!!! Ask for lemon & salt for all the seafood, if you want to take it to a higher level. I learned this from a tempura bar in Japan.“

“Great sushi in a beautiful new restaurant with friendly staff. I came in alone and had the dinner set. Everything in the set was great, and the set was priced reasonably given the quantity (9 pieces of nigiri + 6 piece negihama hand roll) And variety of sushi present. Additionally, the restaurant is currently BYOB and I am not sure if they plan to start serving alcohol in the future. Ginza is a great spot to stop by“

“Not far by car from Waikiki! I think this is the only place where you can get takeout and great taste at a reasonable price! I was surprised at how friendly the Korean owner was! When you eat it, you’ll be surprised twice by how delicious it is! If I get the chance, I want to come to Hawaii and eat there again! :)“

“We were looking for a hip, modern sushi spot that would be a little different from the usual Japanese restaurant—and Kanoa Sushi Grill & Bar absolutely delivered! We brought our auntie here to celebrate her 90th birthday, and we wanted somewhere fun, fresh, and memorable. This place was perfect. The atmosphere was lively and unique, the food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Everyone made us feel welcome and helped make the celebration really special. We had such a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back!“

“This place should be rated WAY higher. The rolls were FRESH, the rice was HOT; they even used real crab in their rolls! (I don't think I've ever had sushi made with real crab before)
I WILL SAY-- they're only cash. But that doesn't matter when the food is that great.
Perfectly filled my bf and I for lunch for $13.“

“Bra~, this place is legit (perhaps the best deal on the rock for all the delicious nigiris, hands down). Rice proportion is just perfect — you taste more sashimi with the perfect amount of rice. Ahhh leche par, coming again next Friday with some ice cold beer. Mahalo~“

“It was a genuine privilege to watch a master at his craft. The food was fresh and delicious, uniquely prepared in front of you. The restaurant is a discrete and intimate experience with only 10 seats (6 at the counter to watch the chef).
We had the 21 piece option and it is truly worth it.“

“One of my favorite sushi spots! Super affordable, you can absolutely keep it below $15 per person depending on what you order. They have less expensive rolls that are more simple and are around $6, i usually get some of the fancier ones which range from $10-$15. My favorite is the spicy ahi tempura roll, though the Diamond Head tempura roll (first picture) is also SO good. The lava tube roll (second picture) is great as well, the green onions add a really bright flavor to it. Great variety of sushi rolls and poke bowls to choose from, I've really enjoyed everything I've tried so far. Service is always pretty quick and the staff are friendly and polite.
Parking is quite limited, though you might be able to find street parking in the area. There's 3 indoor seats and two or three tables outside the shop, so finding seating is really just dependent on how many other people arrive at the same time as you. The shop is a 10 minute or so walk from the beach, so you could also walk down there for a scenic meal.
Highly recommend this place!“

“Great sushi spot in Kaimuki. The sushi here is incredibly fresh and full of flavor—it’s clear they take pride in using quality ingredients. The menu offers a great variety, from classic rolls to unique specialty items.
The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is quick—perfect for a takeout spot. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous, making it a great value for the quality you get.“

“The food was in a large portion for a medium and the cashier said the toppings they add are default unless you want to take them off which was a nice option. The food was fresh and flavorful. But prices may vary from each poke shop if you want poke from here it's a fine option.“

“This place is PHENOMENAL! By far the best sushi! The chicken in the bento box was cooked to perfection, the rice was excellent and the sushi rolls were out of this world! Definitely the highlight of our trip and it’s so close to where we are staying. Don’t sleep on this place, it’s the best! Such great service and food.“

“Fast service! Great people working there especially the girl that says Oki Day! After taking your order. Only they seem to tub out of Soba after 15:00 every time I visit. Perhaps they could cook more and have more on hand after 15:00. They are open till 21:00 aren't they?“

“Stopped by Hana Sushi and really enjoyed it. It’s a nice little spot with a cozy vibe, and the servers were friendly and attentive. We had some sushi, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. “I wonder why they serve human food but have the name “fish food”? hm, the world may never know. anywho, i had the spicy ahi bowl (?) that came with rice, some fish, and 2 pieces of gyoza with sauce. the fish was good and had the spiciness of a 3.5 on the caucasian scale of spicy; has a little kick but won’t make you cry out for jésus or anything. the convenience of having poke on base was amazing but the portion size was not! $15 or so for a small bento sized meal is a little pricey as poke bowls at foodland are about $5 cheaper and they give you more fish and rice as well. For the size of fish food hawaiis spicy ahi, i have attached a pic to show the size with an ice breakers ice cube gum for a scale (didn’t have banana for scale)“

“Omakase is special here. Everything had an extra element of nuanced flavor and treatment that is uncommon if not rare to find in most other sushi restaurants. You can tell by the first plate you're presented as starters. Tiny place, so plan on getting to greet and chat with others. But the dinner I attended here we ran into only cute families with cute kids.“

“While it's tucked away in the center, this place is hidden gold!
The attendant in the front was super nice and was patient with me while I looked at the menu to figure out what I wanted to order.
I ended up ordering the banana cream matcha latte and a beef don, but was a little sad that they didn't have anymore banana cream, but I was offered the pistachio cream instead.
OMG, the pistachio cream on the banana cream matcha was sooo good and I'm glad I ordered it!
The beef don was pretty good and worth the price:)
Heartbroken that they don't have a location on the Westside, but I would without a doubt make the drive for both the food and service🫶🏾
Overall, I highly recommend SushiMan!“

“Located inside the Central Pacific Bank Plaza at the back corner where it says Aloha Beer (but it's bento actually).
Quality sushi! It's in a casual setting, but the quality and taste are not casual. There were many things I wanna try but finally decided on doing the chirashi bento.
Delicious and fatty fish! One thing you can tell if this place has good fish or not is by trying their red tuna. Quality places would give you a nice cut that's bright red with subtle mild fish flavor. Budget places will give you tuna that has a lot of ligaments and almost no fish flavor. Their red tuna was good, along with the ika (squid), negitoro (minced tuna), some fatty white fish, hamachi, crab meat (with light mayo), salmon and shrimp (although I wish it was amaebi instead). Their rice was also yummy with good seasoning and al dente texture.
Prices were not cheap but not ridiculous. I paid $24 for my bento, wish there's just a little more seafood. They have other options that are more affordable.
I went during week after 12:30pm and there was no line. I just walked up to the kiosk to browse what they had and placed my order. The card machine on the left of the screen also takes tap payment. There's also plenty of indoor and nice outdoor seating.
Would definitely go back if I want some sushi for lunch!“

“The best sushi on Oahu, hands down! Was on vacation but ended up eating at Jay's 3x during our trip. Well worth it. The menu is huge and the bento boxes super full! Their spicy ahi might be the best I have ever had. Also be sure to grab a red velvet cake pop for dessert. Thanks Jay's!“

“Found this small restaurant as I walked around the area. Prices have increased from the menu I saw posted on here. Most are three dollars higher. There is a small seating area and I suppose you can eat there but this seems more like an order and go type of place. Food is decent. I found the portions to be spot on. I couldn’t finish my bento box and I took a bite of the poke bowl my wife ordered. Both were good. Fresh stuff. I’d recommend for sure.“

“Some of the very best sushi in Honolulu at very low prices. Sushi is available with brown rice. Everything made fresh including sinus-opening wasabi paste. Located between Waikiki and the Ala Moana shopping mall. Very friendly, courteous service.
