“Whenever we visit Hawai'i, it's always the Big Island. Whenever we visit the Big Island, we always stay in Keaau. Whenever we stay in Keaau, we have to go to the Coffee Bean. Awesome drinks, super consistent with highly underrated sandwiches. Breakfast or lunch sandwiches, they are always tasty and well put together. Live this place!“

“Hilo iced coffee was one of our favorites places to grab coffee when in Hilo. We drove all the way from pepeekeo every day so we could have all those amazing options. My hubby and I each got a coffee and a matcha to share. We made sure we tried something different every time, usually staff recommended, just to see what were a “go” or a “no.” Honestly, every thing we ordered exceeded our expectations. “Honey girl” was a clear winner for us, the mix of Mac nut milk and honey, chef’s kiss- 10/10. And if you’re not feeling something too sweet, their namesake “Hilo iced coffee” hit the spot- 9/10. We also tried their black sesame coffee and matcha, both were 10/10. We had the chance to also try the strawberry matcha and while I can see the hype for strawberry matches are real, the strawberry Puree was a wee too sweet for us, still very good- 8/10. We will be sure to stop by every time we go Hilo!“

“Chill little place in a shopping mall. There coffee was good and the large comes with three shots so be careful. Also they had the best ube latte as they had real ube on top, unlike other places I went to that just used ube flavored syrup. I would definitely go back for the ube latte.“

“Absolutely Incredible Spot in Hilo!
This coffee shop is hands-down one of the coolest places I’ve ever been. The vibe is laid-back and artistic, with super cool local art all around and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to hang out all day. The coffee? 🔥 Next-level good. Smooth, rich, and made with real care.
Chris is the man — friendly, genuine, and clearly passionate about creating a space that’s more than just a coffee shop. You’d be crazy not to stop here if you’re in Hilo. Honestly, you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to grab a cup. This place isn’t just coffee—it’s a whole vibe.“
“The lady helping me and my sister was so amazing. She remembered her order from weeks ago and we ordered a smoothie (multiple mornings) and it was delicious. We also ordered the loaded potatoes and I kid you not…. I would eat this for the rest of my life if I could. Amazing service, amazing products and a warm welcome is always heartwarming.“
“Highly recommended for business meetings“
“This coffee shop is actually connected to the general store its next to from the inside and I think is under the store as well. Prices are normal, coffees good, dude behind the counter is nice, what more do you need? We stopped here for some coffee on our way to the beach.“
“it's a cherry spot exspecially to charge any electricals“
“I'd like to recognize one of the workers France Vivien for being so polite and for working with us when our favorite drinks were out. She was by far the nicest Starbucks worker I've met. We enjoyed the drinks she recommended and her smiles made our day!“

“We were looking for something homey and warm to eat after a long arduous touring and traveling. We found this cute little family owned restaurant. Right when I entered, I immediately knew it was going to be good as the pho aroma hit our faces. We ordered the combination and it was one of the best food we ate on the island. Will come back on our next trip.“

“Oh man did we luck out! Looking for a place to have a nice breakfast on a Thursday AM. We were extremely fortunate as a "walk-in" around 9:30. Word to the wise, don't do what we did, Paul has to constantly turn people away at the door. ONLY 3 tables for two. Paul is very engaging and has a good sense of humor but the food OMG. My wife had the perfect Belgian Waffles and I had THE best ever eggs Benedict with salmon. Brok dah mouth brah....You must make reservations probably two weeks in advance. This is the number one restaurant in Hilo in my book, serves breakfast & lunch. A total home run....thank you Paul for sharing your amazing talent!!“

“My husband and I shared:
- Turkey, Cranberry, and Cream Cheese Popover Sandwich
- Pastrami Popover Sandwich
- Ube Donut
- Lilikoi Butter Mochi
Both sandwiches were fantastic. I love popovers and it's such a great idea to turn them into a sandwich. I think I had a slight preference for the turkey one, but you can't go wrong with either.
The desserts were a little disappointing. The donut was dry and the butter mochi was just ok.
If you're in Hilo, come here for lunch!“
“My favorite place for malasadas on the Big Island! The malasadas are fresh and delicious, and the drinks are just as amazing—perfectly refreshing start a day. The lady is kind and welcoming, I like her smiles. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!“

“The new owner's are super nice! I usually get the shaved ice in a cup, which is always sweet and refreshing! Their chicken sandwich is yum too! Rib taco's was mouth watering also! They have tasteful art, that is for sale if inclined to buy, and cookbooks too! We're so glad this happy food place is here!“

“The menu is large they have most of the flavors you can hope for and are always making interesting specials. I personally love the hojicha milk tea. This time I tried the old maids special. A oolong milk tea with blueberry and butterfly tea. Looked amazing and was surprisingly delicious.
I order everything half sweet regular is usually really sweet.“
“First, food is excellent! They do a very nice job, make it fresh and the place is very cool...right next to two other food counters, also right around the corner from the market. One is Thai, very good as well and another acai bowl place which we also love. I took a star because of the hours, twice now we have gone wanting this and they are closed?? Both times were within what they say open on here, but nothing there but a closed sign, frustrating because we love the food.“

“I live off grid, like to get out to work, and I basically made this location my office/living room for a few months. I love the location for the people watching and it was super endearing when the staff remembered my order and name. I've been hanging out in Starbucks all over since my girlfriend in highschool was a barista, and this Starbucks has the nicest view of the Pacific and staff I've found.“
“Some of the best coffee I've ever tried. Belong to the cuppers club, get two different bags of beans each month from different Hawaiian crops. Excellent, fresh coffee beans. Well worth the money.“

“A nice surprise with singing and guitar music while we ate and had a drink to start our vacation. We ordered lechon and 2 pina coladas. Service was nice and efficient, the view is lovely. Day 2 we ordered Caesar salad and clams. The bread dipped in garlic sauce was nice. The brownie with ice cream dessert was divine. Day 3 we ordered chicken wings, espresso martini and poke during Happy Hour. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. Poke was good, we ordered a side of rice. Loco moco and coffee for breakfast. Plenty of meat variety, thin beef patty, rice a little undercooked. For most evening meals, it took 30-40 minutes after ordering to get food, at breakfast about 15 minutes.“

“To be candid, I'd pretty much stopped going to McDonald's because the food wasn't that great. This time was very different. I arrived to this location with no trash to be found in the parking lot. I was greeted at the door with a smile and asked if I needed any help. I ordered via the kiosk, but couldn't recall how to use my code and someone jumped right in to help. The food was ready in about 3 minutes and the order was correct even with my special requests. The dining room was very clean and the temporary out of service signs were gone from the soda fountain. I watched as staff looked under tables and swept the crumbs from prior guests as they left. No one said anything to them, they just did it. I must say, I am impressed. I'm sure I'll be more willing to take the kids the next time they ask.
Kudos to the manager and staff.“

“Sometimes the red shoes demon grasps your entrails by the stomach and demands a sacrifice. That sacrifice is invariably your health.
I found myself drawn to the McAlter myself just recently and while my heart was clogged with nostalgia at the smells of hot fries and what looks like sizzling beef, my wallet experienced no such relief.
Interestingly, the food was less greasy than I remember from my childhood. Everything arrived hot and fresh with minimal delay. The few veggies trimming my sandwich seemed crisp and fresh. The waxy American cheese imparted it's mild flavor and generally all was a I remembered. My craving satisfied, the demon relinquished his grasp upon me and remanded his fuzzy red hair and shiny yellow onesie to the ether from which he sprang.
I was impressed by the cold hard efficiency of the kiosk that has replaced the front desk. No longer are the employees distracted by unnecessary interaction with customers. Instead, they can put their heads down and really focus on frying frozen pies and slinging salt at steaming piles of fries as of trying to cast out their own demons.
While I can't in good conscience recommend the place in the framing of any health conscious rhetoric, I also can't say that I won't go back. Perhaps it is a curse, or the allure of a grim purple smile cast from the shadows behind the bench seating, but something always brings me back...“

“honestly this McDonald's should be shut down by Ronald McDonald himself! McDonald's is supposed to be a charitable organization but yet this specific location is anything but charitable or compassionate or even employed by decent people. previously I have been rudely forced to unplug my phone from the outlet at this location when I was trying to load my McDonald's app in order to earn my points or even redeem my rewards. secondly there is no other way to log into my McDonald's account considering I was not allowed to charge my phone to login to my McDonald's account. now just to top it all off as I was walking by I noticed the drive-thru was blocked off and people were forced to reverse out of the drive-thru so I simply asked the employee outside what was going on and if everything was okay I was ignored but yet this specific employee could talk to everyone but me and I honestly believe it was because I am a foreigner to Hawaii because this specific employee answered everyone else who just happened to be a local or of the same ethnicity as them. the majority actually I can confidently say all of the employees are of Filipino ethnicity and I believe they would not hire anyone else of a different ethnicity. do not go to this McDonald's as I can confidently say they are prejudice and racist if you are not Filipino!“

“It was such a wonderful experience and definitely our best breakfast on the island. Fresh bread, delicious sandwiches, and great coffee. We paid $38 including tips for two lattes ($7.50 each) and two sandwiches. The price is very reasonable, and the food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend visiting! 🌴✨“
