“My favourite place on the island to eat, worth every penny. I daydream about it. Hot food bar with tons of vegan options (there is no meat in the store at all, it’s a vegetarian grocery story with hot food bar by weight, and a bistro with food and smoothies). The salad bar is unreal. I love the late hours. I also always hit it on the way to the airport. I wish this was my business and I’d love to meet the brains behind this operation, just so cool. “Love the music of Tim McDill and Seanna. Worth the drive just for the view. Dinner and pizza menu significantly decreased at night... pepperoni, cheese or mushroom are the only options. Enjoyed the salads but thought it was strange that food delivery came with a server banging down her tray and plopping fork and plate and napkin and zooming away before we could ask for a knife or extra napkin.“

“Sam Sato’s is one of those spots where you walk in as visitors and walk out feeling like part of the neighborhood. My friends and I stopped by and were instantly swept up in the warm, local vibe — friendly staff, quick service, and an ambiance that feels both classic and comforting.
We tried a little bit of everything and honestly enjoyed it all. The cheeseburger deluxe hits that perfect old-school diner nostalgia. The signature dry noodles are a must, and the super dry noodles with vegetables takes it to another level. Don’t skip the yakitori — simple, smoky, and delicious.
Beyond the food, what really makes Sam Sato’s special is its heritage. From a humble general store in the sugar-cane fields back in 1933 to a beloved Maui institution today, you can taste the generations of care in every dish. It’s the kind of spot where recipes and smiles feel like they’ve been passed down through the family just for you.

“Absolutely Unforgettable Thai Experience in Maui!
My Thai near the Maui airport completely blew us away. We tried the Thai tea, spring rolls, Thai fried rice, basil fried rice, and plain noodles for my son—and every single dish was exceptional. The flavors were so rich, balanced, and authentic that I can confidently say I’ve never tasted Thai food like this in my last 15 years.
What truly sets this place apart is not just the food, but the hospitality. The owner personally shared that some of the dishes are their own non-recipe creations, and you can genuinely taste the passion and originality in every bite.
And the coconut tapioca pudding—wow. It deserves a special mention because it was simply out of this world. One of the best desserts I’ve ever had, Thai or otherwise.
If you’re anywhere near the airport or visiting Maui, this place is an absolute must-visit. Incredible food, warm service, and a dining experience we’ll remember long after our trip. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Maui! 🙏🇹🇭🍽️“

It was utterly divine!!!! I wish I could take this plate home on the flight. I wouldn’t miss out on this meal.
My husband got the combo plate with the fukake fried poke and the ribeye and it was mouth watering. ALL the flavor and juiciness you could imagine. I 1000000000000% would recommend.“

“One of the food trucks in the Maika’i market in the Maui Mall Village and possibly my favourite meal in Maui. Food is made to order so the pork was crispy, juicy and so tender. The fresh onion, tomato, and vinegar dipping sauce balanced the pork’s richness and fattiness beautifully. The people running it are friendly and clearly care that they are serving great food. Huge portion too - it served as both lunch and dinner! Would love to go back and try more things.“

“Ichiban Okazuya Hawaii is a must-visit for classic Japanese-style takeout in Maui. The chicken katsu is crispy and flavorful, the nabeyaki udon is rich and satisfying, and portions are generous. It’s a no-frills, takeout-only spot with limited parking, but service is quick and efficient. The menu features a great mix of local and Japanese comfort foods, making it a favorite among locals. Be sure to go early, as they sometimes sell out of popular items. If you're looking for authentic flavors at reasonable prices, this is the place to go.“

“Pretty much if they are open I'm stopping for some malasadas for the road. I'm partial to the guava, also like the vanilla cream and the turnovers. Lots of nearby parks, beaches, scenic drives and road trips nearby, so basically lots of reasons to buy a bag of malasadas. Also sold individually. $10 minimum for card pay.“
