“I’m Chicago born and raised, so yeah—I don’t play about my pizza. Deep dish, tavern-style, Sicilian… I love it all. So when my friends kept talking up Smash Pizza, we decided to try it for Mother’s Day. It’s a cute, smaller spot, so just know you might have to wait or do takeout. But the staff made it worth it—our waitress (purple ponytail, wish I caught her name!) was so warm and helpful with recommendations. We started with the bread plate, and listen…that alone was a win. Fresh bread, olive oil, butter, burrata—honestly didn’t even need the extras, it was that good. Now the pizza. I was a little skeptical because Chicago folks know—we like our crust thin with a little crunch. But we went with their Sicilian style and I’m so glad we did. That crust? Light, airy, crispy…nothing like that chain pizza pan crust. Just done right. We got the Queen, and my son tried the mushroom and fried kale. I don’t even like mushrooms, but that fried kale? So good—crispy, flavorful, perfect texture. Everything tasted fresh. Like, really fresh. Hell, even the water tasted fresh, lbs! All in all, this place is legit. I haven’t had pizza like that in a long time—it really reminded me of home. If you’re thinking about going, just go. It’s worth it.”

“We recently had a "private party" at Adventurous to celebrate a retirement. We have been coming to Adventurous since the taproom was opened. The vibe is amazing and the staff is fantastic. Jami was so great to work with in getting the party scheduled and figuring out how we wanted to set things up to the beer. The communication was excellent and we felt so comfortable that the day would be just we wanted it to be. The day was perfect (we drove over 2 hours as well as did all of those invited to join us) and cannot say enough about Jami and team at Adventurous.”

“We have dined at Sindo 6 times since they first opened. Every experience surpassed the prior one. Each dish, no matter how simple or complex, was absolute perfection. The care with which each dish was created, was obvious. From the Robata grill appetizers, to the sushi rolls, to the sides, the Ramen, and the Poke bowl- each was completely satisfying. Oh, and the drink menu? The same careful balance and attention to detail applies equally to the mixed drinks. What a gem in Downtown Bettendorf!”

Their staple OG cookies (chocolate chip, peanut butter, and sprinkle sugar cookie) will always have a top spot for being the best they are just done so well. However I love the custom flavors that they come out with. The creativity matched with flavor, no one can compete. Great treat for family, coworkers, or the perfect I don't know what to get kinda gift. They also have happy hour specials, so if you are stickler about price always check for deals!”

“I like to order Belgian Waffles on Sunday, with a side of scrambled eggs! It normally comes with meat. They have been great about letting me switch that out tho. The price of eggs may have been the one thing that has come down 🙂 I call in my order, and pick up in 15 minutes. I really like that there is one in Bettendorf now! Don’t have to wait 30-45 minutes to get in. The menu has a great variety. They have crepes! I used to go to a place in Chicago with my Mom and sister, 30 years ago; called Magic Pan- their specialty was crepes! Yum! I love this place!”

“We had La Flama on Wheels for a birthday party and it was well worth the money! The service was amazing and the food was so good! Everyone really enjoyed the food. Most people had more than one helping. All the kids loved seeing the truck and thought it was super cool. The staff was supportive and incredibly accommodating. I will for-sure be using La Flama for our next party. I highly recommend La Flama on Wheels for any special occasion. It was so much fun and super delicious!!!! 🌮🎈🌮”

“It's nice to have MLK day off from work - three-day weekends are great from school, and their just as good in adult life. After a day spent largely across the river in Rock Island and East Moline, I took a rest at home. I needed a night cap and some dinner however. What better way to accomplish both of those things than a quick trip out to a nearby bar?I have no other reason to traverse Central Avenue in Bettendorf. I live within a 5 minute drive of Central Ave Tap, but I don't need to visit Neil Armstrong Elementary, nor is there anything else along the road for me to visit currently. I've driven by before on my way to visit friends that live in the area, just never stopped in here ever for a drink or food. Well, that changes tonight - I needed a gin and tonic and a burger before bed!There's not too much to say about Central Ave Tap. Its a bar in the bottom half of a building all to itself. There're two pool tables, a few dart boards, and a long bar that runs the whole length of the space. Newish wood laminate floor covers most of the inside, as does the newer looking drop ceiling. There's a TouchTunes jukebox along the wall - one of the new variety that lets anyone with the corresponding phone app play anything they like with the touch of a button from their phone. Suffice to say, the space is well maintained and clean.I settled at the bar on my visit and got my gin and tonic to start. They only had well gin - Fleischmann's I think? - it was fine, made a good G&T. After a quick perusal of the menu, I settled on a burger and fries, both of which I got to watch the bartender prepare right from my seat at the bar. This was a new experience for me - the stove and, really, the entire kitchen area are right there, unsegregated from the rest of the space, to watch as you please. It was actually kind of neat, plus the food came out super fresh.I enjoyed both the burger and fries. The burger was a simple pre-formed frozen patty, but it tasted fresh all the same. The fries were crinkle cut, fried to crispy perfection. The total portion size was exactly what I needed for the evening - not too much, not too little.Given a similar urge, I'd come back here for another burger. It felt kind of weird just randomly coming here. The space had the distinct feeling of being a local pup, a sort of common space for mostly those that lived close by. I hope I didn't intrude much. “I was at the bar when the incident occurred with the customer vaping. Owner asked him politely to please not vape. The customer was unnecessarily offended even though there were signs stating no smoking or vaping. Riverside is very friendly and welcoming- veterans included. Great food, great staff!”

“There's literally a Starbucks store not a block down Middle Road from this one. I know it's pretty much a hackneyed and tired observation at this point, but I still feel compelled to make it. At any rate, I happened to be doing some shopping within the HyVee that contains this Starbucks and decided to stop here for a tea and pastry. Never done this before, but felt compelled to do so today.This place has a weird look. The accent lighting fixtures in most Starbucks are present across the trellis that surrounds this location, but they do nothing to add to the functionality or overall appearance of the location, as uncovered 4 ft florescent light fixtures provide the same harsh white light common to this and most other Hy Vee locations. It's kind of a bummer - I wish Hy Vee would fix this.I got an Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade and an Iced Lemon Loaf. No issues with either - they were of the quality expected of any other Starbucks. I enjoyed both while sitting at one of the two tables adjacent to the kiosk while looking at this location's particularly strange painting that I swear every Starbucks has to have their own version of.In summary, the food and drink of this Starbucks was standard fare, but the grocery store ambiance took away something from the experience. I think if Hy Vee fixed their lighting around the Starbucks, this would be better. Don't know how they'd do that - maybe add a separate drop ceiling around the area to make it a little darker? Anyway, thanks Starbucks!

Vegetarian options: Plenty of coffee, tea, and pastry will satisfy the meatless consumers among us.

Kid-friendliness: None of the employees seemed anti-child. Specific to their seating, there aren't child seats.

Parking: There's a large parking lot available outside the Hy Vee that can also be used by those wanting to partake in this Starbucks.

Wheelchair accessibility: There's no real wheelchair seating right at this Starbucks. If needed, however, you could probably go to the Hy Vee dining area close by to find something suitable.”

“This was my first visit to Smoothie King. As I was sitting at the local Smoothie King waiting for my order a young lady walked in and went up to the counter. As she was greeted by the staff she began to cry. I heard her say “I am sorry I’m just nervous.” The female employee asked her if she was there for an interview and she nodded yes. The employee then said “don’t be nervous. Everyone here is nice.” They had her take a seat. Shortly after, the Shift Lead Kionna came out and sat down with her and approached her with the biggest warm smile and a calm and reassuring tone. She said “I didn’t know about your interview today so I’m nervous and you’re neevous. Everything will be ok.” And then the interview started! We need more people like the ladies at Smoothie King!!! AND our smoothies were delicious too! ♥️”
