Smash Pizza 3403 Devils Glen Rd, Bettendorf Pizza • $$

“Brian and his team do an incredible job. Their focus on quality ingredients and putting flavors together is amazing. Everything we have had there has been great. Best Smash burger in-town, Nashville Hot Chicken Sando is great, wait till you see how perfect the crisp is. Of course the pizza can't be beat. I think deep dish and his Sicilian hits it out of the park. Plus he started making his own pasta in-house it's incredible. Make sure to give it a try you won't be disappointed. Get a loaf of sourdough to take home as well. See you there!”

The Q

The Q 905 Middle Rd, Bettendorf Bar • $

“This place is easy to miss entirely. A bar in a strip mall shared by a T Mobile store, a salon, and an FSBO homes outlet...if it weren't for the beer and liquor neon signs on the storefront, I'd have still been wondering what the place was. I guess Google maps helped too - they tend to be pretty accurate at identifying what businesses generally do.The overall appearance of the interior is not entirely cohesive. There's the normal mix of high top table seating and stools at the bar that's common at bars. The floors are a nice looking wood laminate - that was common enough, but clean in overall appearance. The lighting is also nicely done in the space - evenly dispersed incandescent or incandescent-like suspended metal fixtures are present throughout the space, providing a warm, low light level. The ceiling area, however, is fractured in overall appearance. The area behind the bar contains 2 x 4 foot drop ceiling tiles, while the rest of the drinking space is uncovered with visible wooden support frames, HVAC ductwork, and conduit. The area behind the bar is pretty interesting. The metallic or metallic-looking patterned tile were a neat accent, especially when paired with the yellow-orange strip lighting throughout. This also provided a nice way to partially illuminate the liquor bottles displayed along the bar.I was ready to order my standard Gin and Tonic and asked the bartender what their selection of gin included. She mentioned they had an orange flavored Tanqueray, what I've now come to understand was Tanqueray Sevilla Orange. This was something new for me, so I opted to try this in a Gin and Tonic. That was a good decision, as this is one of the best Gin and Tonics I've had in a while. The drink was smooth with light orange citrus notes throughout. If this is on offer when I'm out in the future, I'd definitely get this again.Probably not at The Q, though. I know I wrote some things about the ceiling that were a little picky. These aesthetic choices don't bother me severely - general ambient noise level does, however. The music was playing at a volume just above what I'd consider too loud. The effects were clear - the other 10 or so people in the bar were all talking far louder than normal just to be heard above the music. This is a big turn-off for me when places do this. I come out for a drink or two and some generally quiet conversation if I'm in a group. This place definitely wouldn't service this need.To be fair, The Q has a back patio area that wouldn't be feasible to use in the current winter weather. I'd consider visiting again in warmer weather and sitting in this area. In the meantime, I'd probably still stop in for a drink to wait for a significant other with a salon appointment or to shop for a phone if either of those specific scenarios were to arise. There's both TVs with sports and darts to pass the time.”

Dunn Brothers Coffee 787 Middle Road (Duck Creek location, 787 Middle Rd, Bettendorf Coffee Shops • $

“Overall, I love coming here! I do wish they would go back to pre-covid hours. I come here with my kiddos sometimes as a treat and play UNO. It's a nice place to have one-on-one time with each of my kiddos. Wish there were more gf options, but what they have is still good! It can get a little pricey, but what isn't anymore?? Also a nice place to get some work done, if needed, or sometimes to just chill out in the sun.Anyway, if you eat normally, highly recommend! Highly recommend the avocado toast... has ruined me for all avocado toast, EVER!!Dietary restrictions: They have a gf english muffin for breakfast sandwiches and sometimes "Gina's Bars" or gf doughnuts (both individually packaged). I don't really enjoy the bars, just because of texture, but the rest is good.Parking: Have never had a problem with parking.Kid-friendliness: My brood can be a little MUCH, but staff has never been unkind or snapped at them, which I count as a miracle. They have books, some toys, and UNO, which we frequently avail ourselves of.”

“The overall atmosphere of the restaurant design was modern with lots of wood accents, large open spaces, and nice patio area. The women's restroom had one stall out of order, the other stall had some functional issues (that were addressed after being reported), and it was disappointing that the restroom ran out of hand towels within an hour of being open. The food was good. I had the Foundry Prach Salad starter, which was a large portion, so I can only imagine how much you get if you order the whole salad. We had the cheese curds app, and they were amazing! The ultimate bacon cheeseburger was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The bangin' shrimp was good but didn't have any "kick" to it, but the flavor was delicious. The avocado egg rolls with the orange sauce was amazing as well! The breading on the fish and chips was thick but if you removed part of it the flavor of the cod came through and was spot on!”

“Visited the Saturday before Easter around 7pm, no wait. Food was delicious- started with edamame and our waitress (I forget her name) recommended squeezing lime over the edamame- which was great. My dude had the yakitori chicken dinner, which were marinated chicken skewers and came with green beans with almonds and rice. We both loved our meals. We also split a Black Diamond roll. Central Ave Tap 2604 Central Ave, Bettendorf Bar • $

“It's nice to have MLK day off from work - three-day weekends are great from school, and their just as good in adult life. After a day spent largely across the river in Rock Island and East Moline, I took a rest at home. I needed a night cap and some dinner however. What better way to accomplish both of those things than a quick trip out to a nearby bar?I have no other reason to traverse Central Avenue in Bettendorf. I live within a 5 minute drive of Central Ave Tap, but I don't need to visit Neil Armstrong Elementary, nor is there anything else along the road for me to visit currently. I've driven by before on my way to visit friends that live in the area, just never stopped in here ever for a drink or food. Well, that changes tonight - I needed a gin and tonic and a burger before bed! There's not too much to say about Central Ave Tap. Its a bar in the bottom half of a building all to itself. There're two pool tables, a few dart boards, and a long bar that runs the whole length of the space. Newish wood laminate floor covers most of the inside, as does the newer looking drop ceiling. There's a TouchTunes jukebox along the wall - one of the new variety that lets anyone with the corresponding phone app play anything they like with the touch of a button from their phone. Suffice to say, the space is well maintained and clean.I settled at the bar on my visit and got my gin and tonic to start. They only had well gin - Fleischmann's I think? - it was fine, made a good G&T. After a quick perusal of the menu, I settled on a burger and fries, both of which I got to watch the bartender prepare right from my seat at the bar. This was a new experience for me - the stove and, really, the entire kitchen area are right there, unsegregated from the rest of the space, to watch as you please. It was actually kind of neat, plus the food came out super fresh.I enjoyed both the burger and fries. The burger was a simple pre-formed frozen patty, but it tasted fresh all the same. The fries were crinkle cut, fried to crispy perfection. The total portion size was exactly what I needed for the evening - not too much, not too little.Given a similar urge, I'd come back here for another burger. It felt kind of weird just randomly coming here. The space had the distinct feeling of being a local pup, a sort of common space for mostly those that lived close by. I hope I didn't intrude much. It's definitely a nice space. Thanks Central Ave Tap!”

“This location is smaller than the Moline one. However, it is just as cozy and the service and drinks are great. The staff is knowledgeable and kind, open to conversations and recommendations. I love an iced oat milk latte with lavender and honey syrup. Oh - they also make all their own syrups!I also have a toddler and I've never felt like the staff or patrons were bothered by my toddler being a kid in public! There is a nice couch area she can play by without bothering others. It's nice to get a coffee and hang out.”

“Another good restaurant near the trinity hospital. Specializes in hamburgers with a wide selection of craft beers that either they make or other iowan brewers do. You have a choice of a tall table top or a booth to set at. Many televisions surround the main room with various sports on them. When it gets warmer there is an outdoor patio thatvyou can eat as well. There is also a wine menu that you can select from as well. I choose the irish stout with a blue burger. It was a bitbover cooked for my taste as i generally prefer a rare burger and this one was medium or well done they didn't ask me how i wanted it prepared.”

I get excited at the beginning of every month to see the special shakes for that month. The only reason I force myself to workout anymore is to reward myself with a shake. Starbucks 2900 Devils Glen Rd, Bettendorf Coffee Shops • $

“There's literally a Starbucks store not a block down Middle Road from this one. I know it's pretty much a hackneyed and tired observation at this point, but I still feel compelled to make it. At any rate, I happened to be doing some shopping within the HyVee that contains this Starbucks and decided to stop here for a tea and pastry. Never done this before, but felt compelled to do so today. This place has a weird look. The accent lighting fixtures in most Starbucks are present across the trellis that surrounds this location, but they do nothing to add to the functionality or overall appearance of the location, as uncovered 4 ft florescent light fixtures provide the same harsh white light common to this and most other Hy Vee locations. It's kind of a bummer - I wish Hy Vee would fix this.I got an Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade and an Iced Lemon Loaf. No issues with either - they were of the quality expected of any other Starbucks. I enjoyed both while sitting at one of the two tables adjacent to the kiosk while looking at this location's particularly strange painting that I swear every Starbucks has to have their own version of.In summary, the food and drink of this Starbucks was standard fare, but the grocery store ambiance took away something from the experience. I think if Hy Vee fixed their lighting around the Starbucks, this would be better. Don't know how they'd do that - maybe add a separate drop ceiling around the area to make it a little darker? Anyway, thanks Starbucks!Vegetarian options: Plenty of coffee, tea, and pastry will satisfy the meatless consumers among us.Kid-friendliness: None of the employees seemed anti-child. Specific to their seating, there aren't child seats.Parking: There's a large parking lot available outside the Hy Vee that can also be used by those wanting to partake in this Starbucks.Wheelchair accessibility: There's no real wheelchair seating right at this Starbucks. If needed, however, you could probably go to the Hy Vee dining area close by to find something suitable.”

“It makes me sad that every time I come to Ross' restaurant in davenport that it's always empty! The food is incredible, portions are massive, and the prices are beyond fair! They're a family owned business, and I think struggling. The owners wife just recently passed away as well. It's sad because we just talked to her the last time we stopped by to eat, and she was such a sweet lady. It would be really sad to see this business shut down, so if anyone is ever feeling like getting some of the best breakfast food in town, show them some love and eat there!
