“Great atmosphere, great service….recommend it”

“I’m Chicago born and raised, so yeah—I don’t play about my pizza. Deep dish, tavern-style, Sicilian… I love it all. So when my friends kept talking up Smash Pizza, we decided to try it for Mother’s Day. It’s a cute, smaller spot, so just know you might have to wait or do takeout. But the staff made it worth it—our waitress (purple ponytail, wish I caught her name!) was so warm and helpful with recommendations. We started with the bread plate, and listen…that alone was a win. Fresh bread, olive oil, butter, burrata—honestly didn’t even need the extras, it was that good. Now the pizza. I was a little skeptical because Chicago folks know—we like our crust thin with a little crunch. But we went with their Sicilian style and I’m so glad we did. That crust? Light, airy, crispy…nothing like that chain pizza pan crust. Just done right. We got the Queen, and my son tried the mushroom and fried kale. I don’t even like mushrooms, but that fried kale? So good—crispy, flavorful, perfect texture. Everything tasted fresh. Like, really fresh. Hell, even the water tasted fresh, lbs! All in all, this place is legit. I haven’t had pizza like that in a long time—it really reminded me of home. If you’re thinking about going, just go. It’s worth it.”

“We recently had a "private party" at Adventurous to celebrate a retirement. We have been coming to Adventurous since the taproom was opened. The vibe is amazing and the staff is fantastic. Jami was so great to work with in getting the party scheduled and figuring out how we wanted to set things up to the beer. The communication was excellent and we felt so comfortable that the day would be just we wanted it to be. The day was perfect (we drove over 2 hours as well as did all of those invited to join us) and cannot say enough about Jami and team at Adventurous.”

“Had a little bit of a wait for the pizza, but nothing too bad or too extreme over designated pickup time. Food turned out great when I got home for my takeout order. The atmosphere was decent, just a small group of people waiting on pizza. Likely just due to height of dinner time rush. Good experience overall.”

“I like to order Belgian Waffles on Sunday, with a side of scrambled eggs! It normally comes with meat. They have been great about letting me switch that out tho. The price of eggs may have been the one thing that has come down 🙂 I call in my order, and pick up in 15 minutes. I really like that there is one in Bettendorf now! Don’t have to wait 30-45 minutes to get in. The menu has a great variety. They have crepes! I used to go to a place in Chicago with my Mom and sister, 30 years ago; called Magic Pan- their specialty was crepes! Yum! I love this place!”

“We had La Flama on Wheels for a birthday party and it was well worth the money! The service was amazing and the food was so good! Everyone really enjoyed the food. Most people had more than one helping. All the kids loved seeing the truck and thought it was super cool. The staff was supportive and incredibly accommodating. I will for-sure be using La Flama for our next party. I highly recommend La Flama on Wheels for any special occasion. It was so much fun and super delicious!!!! 🌮🎈🌮”

However I love the custom flavors that they come out with. The creativity matched with flavor, no one can compete. Great treat for family, coworkers, or the perfect I don't know what to get kinda gift. They also have happy hour specials, so if you are stickler about price always check for deals!”

“It's nice to have MLK day off from work - three-day weekends are great from school, and their just as good in adult life. After a day spent largely across the river in Rock Island and East Moline, I took a rest at home. I needed a night cap and some dinner however. What better way to accomplish both of those things than a quick trip out to a nearby bar?I have no other reason to traverse Central Avenue in Bettendorf. I live within a 5 minute drive of Central Ave Tap, but I don't need to visit Neil Armstrong Elementary, nor is there anything else along the road for me to visit currently. I've driven by before on my way to visit friends that live in the area, just never stopped in here ever for a drink or food. Well, that changes tonight - I needed a gin and tonic and a burger before bed!There's not too much to say about Central Ave Tap. Its a bar in the bottom half of a building all to itself. There're two pool tables, a few dart boards, and a long bar that runs the whole length of the space. Newish wood laminate floor covers most of the inside, as does the newer looking drop ceiling. There's a TouchTunes jukebox along the wall - one of the new variety that lets anyone with the corresponding phone app play anything they like with the touch of a button from their phone. Suffice to say, the space is well maintained and clean.I settled at the bar on my visit and got my gin and tonic to start. They only had well gin - Fleischmann's I think? - it was fine, made a good G&T. After a quick perusal of the menu, I settled on a burger and fries, both of which I got to watch the bartender prepare right from my seat at the bar. This was a new experience for me - the stove and, really, the entire kitchen area are right there, unsegregated from the rest of the space, to watch as you please. It was actually kind of neat, plus the food came out super fresh.I enjoyed both the burger and fries. The burger was a simple pre-formed frozen patty, but it tasted fresh all the same. The fries were crinkle cut, fried to crispy perfection. The total portion size was exactly what I needed for the evening - not too much, not too little.Given a similar urge, I'd come back here for another burger. It felt kind of weird just randomly coming here. The space had the distinct feeling of being a local pup, a sort of common space for mostly those that lived close by. I hope I didn't intrude much. The customer was unnecessarily offended even though there were signs stating no smoking or vaping. Riverside is very friendly and welcoming- veterans included. Great food, great staff!”

I feel remorse for the host because he had a cast on his arm, however, he was still on point with his delivery! Next, I really appreciate how patient our server(Leonardo) was. We got there 1 hour & 20 minutes before closing time and after he gave us our drinks he gave us time enough to get settled before making his first approach for our meal choices. Aside from all that I don't think I've been to many dine in restaurants that have as many meal options as they do. It has to be at least 100 options from breakfast to lunch to dinner.”

I'm very polite but realistic with my reviews.
This place was pretty bad guys.
Depressing ambiance and tasteless sandwiches. I DO NOT recommend (Smoked Salmon): taste of salt with more salt my hubby's words. Nor the (Egg white bacon avocado): mine had marinara sauce with avocado spread which made it 10xs worse. We left nauseous honestly 😪
I'm sorry B.B we got some work to do in the kitchen and menu for sure.”

“This was my first visit to Smoothie King. As I was sitting at the local Smoothie King waiting for my order a young lady walked in and went up to the counter. As she was greeted by the staff she began to cry. I heard her say “I am sorry I’m just nervous.” The female employee asked her if she was there for an interview and she nodded yes. The employee then said “don’t be nervous. Everyone here is nice.” They had her take a seat. Shortly after, the Shift Lead Kionna came out and sat down with her and approached her with the biggest warm smile and a calm and reassuring tone. She said “I didn’t know about your interview today so I’m nervous and you’re neevous. Everything will be ok.” And then the interview started! We need more people like the ladies at Smoothie King!!! AND our smoothies were delicious too! ♥️”
