50 Best Pizza Restaurants near Johnston

“Excellent! Great Food! Friendly Helpful Staff!“

“Came in just 10 minutes before the kitchen closed but the kind man at the bar still gladly took our order and offered us water without us asking. The smash burger and fries were pretty solid! We played one round of bowling and ended up being the last ones there and he didn't charge us for the game. Great service and vibes, will definitely be back.“

“I went to pick up an order today (order 67). Maria was the only one working and it has been a while since I have seen someone hustling that much. She was making pizzas, boxing, answering the phone, and more. She did this while still being friendly to me abd apologized several times that I was waiting. Maria needs some help but also recognition.“

“The service was amazing. The place was clean and decorated so cool. Options to buy by the slice or order off the menu. Outside and inside seating. We had the Chinese moz sticks and the loaded potato pizza and both were SO fire! If we ever come back to town we will definitely be back!“

“I have been coming here for many many years! Simon, the owner is absolutely incredible and done such a great job with this restaurant. The customer service is out of this world. But everything from the drinks, the food and dessert you cannot go wrong here. They only take reservations for parties of six or more. It is a very small intimate place. And it is 100% busy! 😁 well most of the time. This is a great local restaurant and whenever someone suggest anything around the area, I say go here!“

“Cosi Cucina is an absolute family favorite. We enjoy the attention to detail that goes along with our dining experience. We love the atmosphere, delicious food, amazing drinks, very attentive wait staff and we always feel like family. Peter and his staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone’s experience is top notch. The menu has everything from appetizers, salads, pastas dishes, protein packed entrees, pizzas, calzones and a fantastic dessert menu! Thank you Cosi for allowing us to make the very best memories with our family and friends❤️“

“Had the Tuscan Slice, which was a great combination of flavors and perfect crust! Great selection and quick! Will definitely be back.“

“Love Truman’s! They hosted us last night for my birthday celebration and they did not disappoint. They never do! The food alone is delicious, their menu has something for everyone, plus some unique pizzas that I have tried to replicate. (Theirs was better 😉) Their service is always great too. Friendly staff, always helpful, and the dude who hosted our party of 26 last night was awesome and made sure we all had a great experience and had what we needed throughout our time there. Thanks for helping make my celebration so special Truman’s! I’ll be back soon!“

“Gave it a try and have been back every Friday since! Great food and good service, you can’t ask for more than that!“

“We planned this trip specifically to spend the night near Grimaldi's Pizzeria. As we checked into our hotel we were on the phone calling Grimaldi's to place our usually order, large pepperoni with black olives. IMHO, the best thing crust pizza in West Des Moines/Ankeny IA and old/new town Scottsdale AZ! Rumor has it they are coming to Omaha, I will be a regular when and if they do! If you are nearby a Grimaldi's, you must give them a try.“

“we had their pizza today it was very delicious and love the thin crust great job to kevin and his crew“

“We had a wonderful experience at this small Italian pizzeria. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and everything was very clean, including the bathrooms, which I always appreciate. The salad was fresh with crisp, cold lettuce, which was a great start to the meal. We ordered both pizza and pasta, and both were fantastic. The pizza crust was perfectly crisp, just the way it should be. The pasta was outstanding! Honestly the best chicken Alfredo I’ve ever had. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the sauce was rich, cheesy and delicious. You can really tell they take pride in their food and their restaurant. We’ll definitely be back!“

“Ordered online- no contact delivery. Pizza came 20 minutes before the time quoted and was piping hot and delicious!“

“Absolutely love the pizza I got. Have not tried banana cake , but you all are batting a 1000 so far. First time having your pizza. Will be having it again.“

“I was in WDM from Denver visiting family for a week when I happened to wander into this gem of a place my first evening there. Abel, Hillary and Clay made me immediately feel at home and I ended up coming back almost every night of my weeklong stay in WDM.

The regulars were top notch entertaining, the beers cold and decently priced and the food delicious. Loved the whole vibe! A true gem in the area. I will 💯 be back next time I come to town!“

“We love Portofinos!!! The salmon dishes are my favorites!!! Great soups and yummy bread!!! We're close, so we walk there often!!!“

“We recently moved to Ankeny & drive by every day. Parking lot is always full, so we finally made it in. Wow! So good! Sat outside and we had chicken deburgo, chicken Romano and a grinder. All amazing and the young man who was our server was spot on!! Will definitely be back!“

“We are fully staff. Stop by for a fast and friendly service. See you soon. Thank you Rios General Manager“

“Amazing Happy Hour today for my Nephew's Birthday! Incredible food all on the $5 menu!! Can't rave enough about the food and service!! We will definitely be back!“

“We heard many good things about their Pie…we were in town & decided to stop…we ordered a 1/2 & 1/2 & both choices were excellent…our waitress as well was very friendly & never missed a beat…we will definitely be a return customer!…“

“Started off with the Bruschetta Trio, one of each, and all 3 were amazing, although the classic was a little bland compared to the other 2, it was still great.
For pizza, we went with the Ivy, which was incredible since I love white sauce. The amount of each topping is outrageous, they definitely don't skimp here.
Finished with the Famous Cannoli, loved the crunchy outter crust with the thick pastry creme inside.
Hands down the best pizza place in the Des Moines area.
We went at 8pm on a Wednesday and had the whole restaurant basically to ourselves.“

“We were at hospital & ran late so ordered at last minute. The owner/manager stayed and waited for us to pick up pizza. It was delicious and nice and hot. Perfect for the perfectly awful day we just had. Thanks so much for such good service!“

“Excellent pizza. We really enjoyed it. :-)“

“On December 20th, 2025, at 6:58pm, I ordered a large hawiaan pizza and two orders of breadsticks for delivery. I was told 1 to 1 and a half hours at 1 hour 50 minutes I called to find out where our food was. I was told that they tried to deliver our food but were unable to deliver our order but they could not do so. I then asked why it was unable to be delivered and "the manager" stated that they tried to call me, no one ever did call me and I can prove it. The "manager" could not provide a reason the order was undeliverable. I then told them that my husband would be coming to pick it up and that they needed to make it right by refunding part of our order NOT all just part of it for the inconvience (not being nasty at all). The "manager" stated "I am canceling your order. Go somewhere else." When asked why he said "You are being rude." I told him he had poor customer service skills and hung up. My husband and I ended up going to the Altoona Northern lights and they went above and beyond for us. I will always go to the Altoona store over Hubbell. I highly recommend that you do not go to this store unless you want to be treated like crap.“

“Elegant design, wonderful wood-fired pizza, great service, who could ask for more?“

“I’ve worked with Evan and his staff the last couple years to get pizza for Centennial boys’ tennis team meals. They have been amazing to work with and very accommodating, even with weather related changes to the scheduled meals. The pizza has been delicious and the boys love it. The 26 inch pizzas are awesome for feeding large groups. I would highly recommend Dough Co in Ankeny!“

“This is simply the best pizza i have had since i moved from New York. Simply brilliant. Joy gave my wife and me canoli and they were brilliant. Just fantastic.“

“Nice people great pizza very clean“

“This might be the greatest place I’ve ever been. I’m not kidding….“

“Best pizza in Des Moines.💏👍“

“The owner is so kind. I ordered via Door Dash delivery & she called me to let me know that nobody picked up my order. When I went & picked it up she was even kind enough to cancel my DD so that I wouldn't get double charged. My pizza was very delicious“

“this is a fantastic place!!! food is incredible, atmosphere is awsome, and the owner is top notch. if it is a large group of a date this is the place to go“

“Yesterday, my 8 year old granddaughter and my daughter in law came to your restaurant for lunch.
My granddaughter is on a strict diet due to health reasons. The employees were so caring and were going out of their way to make her lunch pleasurable! Her mother and I appreciate that so much!!!
There are not many restaurants she can go to and feel that there are food options for her! She was smiling the whole time we were there.
The employees were very kind to her and I saw care and concern towards my granddaughter.
Please thank them for me!“

“Great pizza and friendly staff!“

“Was visiting town for the weekend and got delivery. The hotel was hard to find but the driver called and we got it sorted. And I'm glad we did because this was the best pizza I've ever had. Top notch! The supreme pizza lived up to its name!“

“best pizza since I was a kid. sauce is different wish it was the same“

“My wife and I dined at Hugo's last night on the patio. The service was excellent, the food was great. This was our first time, loved the vibe of the place. The service and food made it even better! What a welcome addition to this neighborhood! Well done Hugo's.“

“I grew up eating The Other Place Pizza at one of the older locations, in Evansdale. I think OP Pizza is the very top of the line of Pizzas, and consider it the gold standard for how a pizza should be. Sure, I like other pies, but OP can’t be beat. Often though, lately, with my high standard, naturally I am disappointed at different Other Place locations if they don’t get it quite right. A little undercooked or over, not enough sauce, served a little too cold, crust not as thick…. Been a while since I’ve had the perfect OP Pizza. Well, today at lunch we went to the Clive location for the first time and ordered at 14” with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, black olives and mushrooms… and it was absolutely PERFECT! They knocked it out of the park! Crust perfect, sauce amount perfect, cooked to perfection, of course the toppings are always top notch. You know it’s good when you’re full and you just want to keep eating. Great job ladies and gentlemen at the Clive location. You made this 40 year old OP Pizza lover very happy today. Lord Bless.“

“Amazing experience! Best pizza, well topped and tasted great! We have eaten Papa Murphy's for years... Our latest experience was above and beyond our best pizza ever made there. Well topped and easy to cook. Usually we add extra stuff, but we were so impressed with what we got, we didn't change a thing. Amazing!“

“We went through the drive up window, and Shelby took such good care of us. Very kind and courteous. The most pleasant drive thru experience I have had in a very long time.“

“Food was great and the staff were very polite. The place was busy and it seemed like they needed to have one more person working at that time. The Parmesan cheese was empty and the staff didn't have time to refill it. I don't know if they were busier than usual because it was Valentine's Day or if someone called in sick, but the people who were working were busting their butts! We were really glad to find a Godfather's Pizza relatively close since the one in our neighborhood closed a few years back. We will definitely go again.“

“My second time here - great ambiance, service, good, & drinks. I’ve purchased items at the connected market each time. Very handy.“

“We order from this location every Tuesday for going on a year now.. consistently fresh ingredients and perfectly crafted pizzas. Only 1 mishap the entire time and had excellent customer services. Everyone here is very welcoming and we always look forward to our pizza pizza Tuesday! The Detroit style with mini cup pepperoni was a fan fav. Always new options and combos to try, and awesome dessert!“

“first time there. I spent New Year’s eve night there. Fantastic food great drinks great service great people. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I think jay is his name. Great bartender. All I know is if you haven’t gone…you’re missing out!“

“So far I’ve only had the sugar cookies and I’m in love. I guess that’s why they are called Love Drops 😍😂 Great customer service as well! 10/10 would recommend 👍🏼👍🏼“

“Large catered pizza order arrived hot & fresh, a couple minutes early and was enjoyed by all! Thank you!“

“Everything here is so good!!“
