“First time visitor last night. A friend and I went to The Freeze after dinner. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived, but that quickly changed until there were cars lined up on the street coming from both directions, waiting to get into the small parking lot. I don’t know how long it’s been around, but it feels like an institution. I would guess that it is family owned and operated, because that’s the way it felt. These folks sell happiness by the cone. Generous portions, very tasty. Can’t wait to visit again when I’m in the area.“

“I think the banana split could use some nuts but it's all 100% Iowan food to the core, and I go as far to say, better than the old Maid-rite on the corner, better than Center Point Jonesy's, and the cheese fries are better than Iowa state fair fries. I was pretty young when I grew up with all of these classic Iowan flavors, but Barker's IS the flavor of my whole childhood and I'm glad I can have it again, exactly like it was. After all this time, I thought I was just getting old and all adults lose their sense of taste.... only thing missing is the Maid_rite chicken noodle soup 😩 and a post it note on the ceiling.“

Tonight I ordered the corn nuggets, nostalgic classic for me, and a Banana Shake with added Peanut Butter Sauce. THREE WORDS. HO-LEE-COW. They just keep impressing with every visit. “My household love Freddy's and they make the best shoestring fries!! It is one of the only places, fast food places, that my son will eat. They always have great service, friendly smiles, and the young kids that work there are very patient and kind!! A+“

“It is a really nice place to go but the reason I gave it four stars is because it takes a long time to get your food maybe because of how many people come here but it takes 30 minutes must of the time. The food is good but not the best and the inside of the restaurant is really well kept. Great place if you don’t care to wait a while!“

“Almost Famous in Newbo has never disappointed, but my experience today far exceeded anything I could have imagined! I went in with a very specific need--9 bags of the Crunch Berry popcorn mix. I'm attending a conference next week and need to bring a snack that represents where I live. Almost Famous is my go-to and popcorn is much easier to travel with than a case of Busch Light and Casey's pizza! There were no mini bags and no Crunch Berry on hand. The sweet gal working the counter helped me brainstorm alternatives, then suggested I talk to the owner who happened to be there. He said he has some at their production facility a few minutes away if I had time to follow him over there. He took time out of his weekend to help me out AND sent me with a few extra bags for my kids! I'm so thankful for the awesome small businesses and business owners in this community! Go getcha some popcorn!!!“

“I love Culver’s restaurants but was disappointed in the Hiawatha location this evening. We stopped there just because they had Creamy Lemon Crumble for the flavor of the day, but it turned out to be Creamy Vanilla Crumble. We couldn’t taste any lemon, though there was lots of cookie crumble in it.“
