“First time here and I loved it! I came during that quiet time between lunch and after work. They have locally-made gelato! They have an AWESOME barista! I am really sorry I forgot to ask their name. Whoever was working Tuesday afternoon, you are great, thank you. They make their own syrups, y'all AND THERE IS WINE, by the glass or bottle and they're open til EIGHT! And there's Open Mic tomorrow (Wednesday) night!! Signups at 6:45!“

“We have been using this location for our school lunches for a few years and appreciate how reliable, clean and organized this restaurant is, especially working with the manager Linda. We recently encounter an issue with a different restaurant where our lunches wouldn't be fulfilled. We were in a major panic. I called Linda immediately and she was able to take our order. We are so appreciative of Linda and her staff!“

“When heading towards Beverly for a property management home inspection, I wanted to find a local coffee joint that I could get a coffee and a snack of some sort. Afro Joe's was calling to me. Walking in, greeted warmly, the adventure began. If you haven't been, check the menu before you go because you will want to order one of each item! Since it was my first time, most certainly NOT the last, I needed a lifeline. Charmaine to the rescue. I don't know if I manifested or she read my mind , but when I asked which sandwich I should order instantly , she said the short rib! Boom! Done. Next up, a drink choice. Again I was not led astray. The option was a blueberry lavender cold brew topped with rose cold foam. As she was suggesting the option, Charmaine lifted the one she was drinking and again instantly sold. No chocolate croissant available since it was later in the morning but the chocolate morning roll was there and three for three, the order was placed. I already know that I have to come back, time and time again.Just walking in such a chill vibe , perfect music, everyone tables either working or chatting with a friend. The open kitchen invites you to see the hustle and bustle. The garage doors roll up onto the patio for warmer days and what appears to be local art work adorns the walls. When I tell you, this is absolutely no exaggeration, every item was on point! The short rib was so flavor forward eith the bite of picked onions, there was a side of diced pickles and onions too. Also a hit. The warm bun had some fruit nestled in its chocolatey tummy, flakes and moist with the richness of cocoa. And for the latte, cold, sweet and the flavors all complimented each other so well. I did opt for whole milk because, why not?!? I had one too many client emails and texts to be able to enjoy grabbing a book from the shelf but note, they even had the sharpest of colored pencils to doodle or write a note with. I have not one complaint, well, maybe one, I wish they were in my neighborhood because this would be a staple place to visit regularly! Until we meet again and I can get my hands on a chocolate croissant next...or any one of the other of their baked goods. Support your Local Black Owned Businesses!“

“The space is big and beautiful with lots of natural light and cool views outside! Their croissant breakfast sandwich was a nice big portion and tasted delicious. Love the location behind the Chicago Park District headquarters so you could go for a stroll or check out the park and recreational fields afterwards.“

“Chicken Sumac is delicious on dutch bread. The bread is soft but a little crispy on outside. And sumac is unique tasting and mildly tangy. The staff keep everything running smoothly and all the items are delicious. Sandwiches are fresh and interesting. Desserts look good too. Will have to come back and try more items.“

“One of the best local breakfast or lunch spots in town! I've been by a few times with friends over the last few months and have tried the avocado toast and a few other items. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and even offered us complimentary soups while we were waiting for our meals, which arrived quickly and tasted absolutely amazing. For the quality of the food, the prices are insanely cheap. The monster cookie is to DIE for. The coffee was good and the vibes were cozy. The young woman behind the counter was very helpful and made my drink quite well. Love supporting Black owned businesses. It gives me immense joy and pride to support business owners that think and look like me. I would visit again during future trips the Hyde Park area.“

“Such an amazing experience at The Brew! 💜 We came in just after the owner had closed, and she was still kind enough to welcome us in and make our drinks. That alone showed us how much genuine care and hospitality they have here.

I ordered the lavender latte, and my wife had the Mango Sunrise smoothie. Both were absolutely delicious! My latte tasted so light, clean, and perfectly balanced—the lavender was beautiful without being overpowering. My wife’s smoothie tasted incredibly fresh, and you could actually taste the ripeness and sweetness of the mango. I definitely stole a few sips. It was so good the drinks did not make it into the review. 😂

Beyond the drinks, the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. You can really tell they care about the community and about creating something meaningful. I think what they’re doing is phenomenal, and I truly wish them nothing but continued success!

The food exceeded expectations—unlike most tea services, we actually left feeling full and completely satisfied. Our table selected the bourbon-flavored tea and a delicious exotic fruit blend—both were absolutely delightful! “MLB Mondays got me so many free drinks this summer :) the signature honey lavender latte is just ok in my opinion, and I wasn’t a fan of their (pineapple) tropical mocha. Their iced blueberry ube matcha is probably my favorite drink I’ve had from here, although it is extremely sweet. Another pretty good drink is their island spritz, and they have pretty good sandwiches as well! It can get quite busy in the afternoon“

“I went to Tinley park Schoop’s for the 1st time just over a month ago and have been back weekly since. The food, service and cleanliness of the restaurant is outstanding. The women who works there is great. The restaurant gets very crowded at lunch and the service was still outstanding. I will be a regular customer I have recommended to my family and friends.“
