“I placed an order to go. Was informed that there was a $3.00 to go charge and a gratuity would be added on the order cause it was over $100.00. After I checked the receipt, $18.35 was the gratuity. I thought it would be maybe $5.00. Very disappointed. Had I known this, I would have come into the restaurant and ate there had them provide me with service. I am a senior and that was definetly not right. I've already instructed my family not to get me gift card from Maple and Jam.“

“Lou Mitchell's absolutely lives up to its reputation. The restaurant has a classic diner feel—bustling, full of conversation, and a fun, energetic atmosphere. Even though it was busy, the host was organized and efficient, and we were seated quickly.

Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and the food arrived hot with generous portion sizes. The grilled cheese was outstanding, with perfectly buttery, crisp bread and gooey melted cheese. The open-faced Reuben was loaded with thinly sliced meat and full of flavor. No fatty bits either. Everything was fresh, satisfying, and exactly what you'd hope for from a classic Chicago diner.

Second I decided to go due to the good food and definitely the customer service, again awesome. Third, I enjoyed my food as always with recommendations from the young lady ( forgot her name). All three times I was either on crutches or knee brace. They were so sweet they helped me with my food to car an even told me to pull up to place and they’ll have my order ready for me! They were very nice to help me and for that I’m grateful. They went above and beyond. They made sure I was taken care of. So I brought my daughter there and she agree with the great customer service. “Great service and food!! It was nice, even having to wait 30 minutes for a table. They text you when you're up next, so you can go for a walk in the park and watch the dogs/puppies in the dog park and if you have kids there is a playground nearby in the park, too. They have gluten free options as well. The chicken and waffles were amazing!! Same with the orange juice!“

The staff was super friendly. They checked in enough but didn’t hover, and they seemed like they actually cared about the people eating there.

I got the Everything Skillet with scrambled eggs. It had peppers, onions, mushrooms, bacon, basically a mix of everything. The veggies still had a little crunch, the bacon was crispy, and the whole thing just tasted good. Big enough to fill me up.
