We ended up sharing a full rack rib combo with a quarter pound of brisket and homemade applesauce topped with cinnamon. I've always been picky with BBQ because it's hard to find good ribs, but this place really was probably the best ribs I'd ever had. The food is the best part though. The Cuban honestly did not impress me visually, but when I took a bite... oh my! The pork butt was soo good. My mom had the famous Picadilly fish. She wanted to try the Mayfair salad, but didn't want the whole salad so they made her a side salad with Mayfair dressing. They make this dressing in house and its amazing. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. We tried the bulgogi and rice bowl, the charred wings, and cheese fries. We also tried a peach shot, they didn’t taste strong but the results were. I normally don’t visit a restaurant more than once but I’ll be a repeat customer anytime that I’m in town. I also loved the customer service. “Overall, a great space near CWE to get sandwiches and burgers with friends. Good cocktails too!WAIT TIME: We had a dinner reservation for a larger party for 7:30 on a Saturday and we were seated immediately.FOOD: I ordered the classic burger and the guava lamp drink. The burger was very tasty and the fries are delicious! Would recommend. I heard from others in my party that the chicken sandwich was very tasty as well. The guava lamp drink was quite interesting looking, and it had decent taste. It was somewhat unique so only get if you’re ready to try some new flavor combos. It was very strong too.SERVICE: QR code menu was easy to access, and our server was attentive, often asking if we needed drink refills.AMBIANCE: The decor and layout works well, it’s a more modern look with lots of pretty lights and a bar. A great spot to come with a group of friends!PRICE: Dishes were roughly between $15-25, and drinks around $15. Pretty comparable prices to similar restaurants.“

“We came to St.Louis for a little birthday getaway and I had to check out this place and it did not disappoint! We started with dinner (with reservations) on a Saturday night. We found street parking nearby and walked a short distance. We were greeted by our server Antonia not long after we arrived. My partner ordered a NA cocktail made with NA spirits and I had the “plum blossom” cocktail- literally was such a great cocktail I wanted to savor every sip.For appetizers we got the krab rangoon and hush puppies with the amazing vegan ranch sauce (we asked for more). All of the food came out in a timely manner by the friendly servers. The flavors were perfectly balanced and sauces paired well with them. For dinner he got the “smoked maitake mushrooms” dish and I got the “mushroom ravioli with brussel sprouts.”My dish was served hot and the crispy brussel sprouts went well with the creamy and savory ravioli. My partner had his eyes closed and ate the slowest I’d ever seen him eat- he savored every bite (and he’s an omnivore!)For dessert we got the cinnamon roll bread pudding that was served with a cute birthday candle. It was served with a rich warm chocolate sauce. We scraped our plates clean! Our server Antonia was sweet, attentive, and personable with our experience. This place is one of my favorite restaurants I have ever been to and my (omnivore) partner said that was one of the best dinners he’s ever had in a long time.“

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Amazing"If I could give Polite Society 6 stars, I would! ? This has officially become my favorite spot in St. Louis for a romantic, memorable dinner with someone special. ? My girlfriend and I rarely return to the same restaurant, always eager to explore new flavors, but Polite Society left us craving more after our first visit. We simply had to come back - and let me tell you, it was just as incredible the second time around! ?Decor ?Stepping into Polite Society is like entering a whimsical world where the past and present collide in the most stunning way. ? The massive, multi-tiered bar immediately catches your eye, with its precariously stacked shelves bearing an impressive array of spirits. ? It's a sight that leaves you both in awe and slight trepidation, as if a gentle breeze might send it all tumbling down. ? Venture upstairs to the dining area, and you'll find yourself surrounded by a captivating blend of exposed brick, iconic wallpaper, and eclectic decor that transports you to a charming 19th-century home. ? The ambiance is truly one-of-a-kind, making Polite Society one of the most beautiful restaurants we've had the pleasure of dining in. ?Service ?‍♂️On both occasions, the service at Polite Society has been nothing short of fantastic. ? The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, always ready to offer recommendations and ensure that your dining experience is top-notch. ? They strike the perfect balance between being present when you need them and allowing you to enjoy your meal and conversation uninterrupted. ?Food ?️Now, let's talk about the real star of the show: the food! ? During our visits, there's always been at least one dish that leaves us utterly speechless. ? On our first visit, the cauliflower starter was a 10/10 - simply incredible! ? The steak with Brussels sprouts and fries was so mind-blowingly delicious that we almost ordered it again on our second visit. ?? Trust me, if you try this dish, you'll be tempted to stick with it forever! Our second visit (photos included!) began with a lovely broccolini dish that we thoroughly enjoyed. ? The mixed green salad that followed was a hit with me, although my girlfriend wasn't quite as enthusiastic. ?‍♂️ We concluded our meal with the Ragù Mafalda, which had great flavor but suffered from inconsistent temperature. ? Some bites were pleasantly warm, while others were a bit too cool for our liking. Despite this minor hiccup, the overall quality of the food at Polite Society is undeniable. ?In Retrospect ?Polite Society has solidified its place as our go-to spot for a romantic and memorable dinner in St. Louis. ? The enchanting atmosphere, impeccable service, and delectable cuisine create an experience that keeps us coming back for more. While not every dish has been perfect, the overall quality and creativity of the menu are truly impressive. ? If you're looking for a restaurant that combines stunning ambiance with culinary excellence, Polite Society is the place for you! ?Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - "Amazing"A whimsical dining experience that will leave you craving more! ?✨“

“Our first time here and it was great! Our server Genesis was sweet, bubbly, and attentive. The food was fantastic! Had burrata salad (off menu special), the Tiger rolls, and brisket dipper. Other than the au jus being a little too salty (which is prob normal, I don’t like things that are too salty) would eat it all again it was so good! And the servings are huge, we have enough leftovers for two more meals. The cocktails were also terrific- it’s hard to find a Vieux Carré outside the French Quarter but they make a good one! Sazarac was also delicious. Will be recommending this place to others and will definitely be back!“

Old Rock House American • $$

“I have been to Old Rock House a few times for EDM shows. It's very casual and fun. There are two floors which I love - you can be in the pit downstairs or hang upstairs for a more chill vibe and there is even some seating. There is also an outdoor area where you can get some air. They keep the temperature inside very balanced, though it gets hotter as the night goes on like most places. A bar on each floor which keeps the wait for a drink very short. They are really strict about the one drink per person rule (like if you're getting a drink for a friend, the friend has to be physically there too). I don't mind the rule but I saw others get a little grouchy about it. There is a $10 minimum. They have a great selection of liquor though nothing super fancy. Drink prices are normal and affordable for a music venue. The bartenders are super fun, especially the one named "Smash." I often see staff engaging with patrons and even dancing to the music, making the vibe really fun and welcoming. The crowds there, the times I have been there, are usually fun and polite albeit drunk. I have been offered drugs there a couple of times but no one was ever aggressive about it. There is staff everywhere so it feels safe. The crowd tends to be MESSY though - the STICKIEST floors! The bathrooms are a downside because there are only 2 stalls and the restroom is small overall. It's usually well stocked, though. The sound is pretty good for such a casual venue, too. I don't ever feel like it's muffled or too loud, the volume is balanced and it sounds good from both the bottom and the top floor. Lighting wise, they need more lasers! Parking can be a challenge at times (depending on when you get there) but there is a pretty big lot and a small area of street parking.“

“I would give this place 4.5 if that was an option, the food was delicious, the best thing in my opinion were the sides of the proteins, the carrots were probably the best ones I’ve had amazing, potatoes amazing and cauliflower very tasty. The meals as I said, 5/5!. The whole experience and service was maybe 3.5/5. The timing of the meal felt at first rush, we got the first course and we still had basically full cocktails, no much mention on the wines and pairings (we ended sharing a couple of glasses of wine we picked out the menu and turned out good). Despite my complaints I recommend this place, the food was good and with the changes coming with the a la carte menu, I’m excited to try other dishes.“

“I had a 3-course meal today starting with the Camembert appetizer, then the beef sirloin and the strawberry tartin for dessert, together with a glass of red wine. Everything was exquisite, my waiter Todd was extremely nice and delightful, and the atmosphere was perfect, with vibrant music to go along. I would definetely recommend to have an incredible lunch or brunch with an amazing view, topped with a visit to the museumDietary restrictions: Vegan options and gluten-free also“
