“Been eating here for nearly 3p years.Always a great experience. The food and service are not like fast food at all. Very conveniently located in the small town of Cahokia, right in the center of the metro east area. Perfect spot to satisfy a fish crave.“
“This has been the most exceptional dining experience in a very long time. Me & my friend came in for a quick bite. We were greeted immediately & told to hang on a sec & it was literally a second. Mike the waiter was very attentive & took care to our almost every need. Chef’s kiss to Yellowbellly!“
“The steak was amazing. My mother has never ordered a steak any way other than well-done and was floored by the medium well. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and provided both a detailed history and flavor profile of select whiskeys/bourbons. This took the experience to a new level as we were able to apply that knowledge when tasting a flight.Amazing experience. Will definitely be back!“
“Ok so this was my first time here, and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Very cozy and welcoming. There is also an outside patio for dining, which is also super sexy. I opted to sit at the bar and order my meal. It was a nice cozy spot in the corner by the front door. A waiter suggested it when I walked in. I don't remember his name, but he is awesome because it was absolutely perfect. I was waited on by a super sexy bartender named Abby. Very welcoming and sharp. She was on the job.Moving on, I ordered the 14oz New York strip, seafood pasta, and the calamari. The calamari was the best I've EVER HAD. You have to try it. There are no small stingy pieces. All thick juicy cuts and battered to perfection. My steak was just "OK." I expected more from this place, but it just wasn't there. I grill a pretty damn good steak myself, so I'm hard on restaurants when it comes to steak. The pasta was also just "ok." The pasta noodles were overcooked, so it had that gooey sticky feel, and the sauce it was cooked in obviously wasn't made with high quality, rich ingredients. In closing, this is a classy, laid-back place. Perfect to bring a date. The service is sufficient and friendly. The food that I ordered in particular left me wanting and expecting more. Quality ingredients are a must when ppl can spend $130+ $30 tip for a meal, and that's just 1 person! The portion with the steak could've been better for that kind of money, for sure. Many restaurants post pandemic have taken shortcuts on quality ingredients and good portion sizes. Ppl don't mind paying for good food, and you actually feed them. It's so bad that it has kept me from going to higher class restaurants altogether because there is simply no value anymore.Parking: They have a couple of small parking lots. However, if you co.e when they're busy, you may have to part on the street.“
“Absolutely tasty. Wonderful to have this diverse pallet of flavors in St Louis. Come with good company so that you don't notice the wait. Because the food is worth it. I recommend saving room for the chocolate cake and the Passion Fruit moose. Yum.“
“I really enjoyed this place a lot. From the moment I entered the staff members were incredibly friendly and suggested so many different foods. I was served with smiles and fun conversations. This place gave "family" vibes. Everyone was so kind, they felt familiar. I'm a stickler about things being hot and fresh. Everything I ordered was hot, fresh, and tasty. I definitely will be back to try more of their food. This is a place I recommend because they have good food and good service.“
“Crab cakes were amazing with the fried green tomato on the bottom! Oysters were spot on. Red beans and rice smoky good. Dana it’s and tacos just ok even though recommended by multiple. Good volume of nice music, servers friendly and prompt! Would come back for sure.“
“The service here is top notch. My husband and I came on our anniversary before catching the theater. Our reservation was for 5:15, and we admittedly were a bit late, but informed our server that we needed to leave by 6:30 to make our show. The serving staff took good care of us and what we ordered, three courses worth, was all highly flavorful and top notch.“
“A place that has been in business for 95 years, in the same building, deserved a visit. When I heard this, I had to take that short drive to Madison, Illinois, to see what this "fish sandwich" craze was all about. I walked in and felt as if I had falling into a time capsule. I mean that in a good way. You had locals at the bar, talking just shooting the breeze. There was a constant flow of foot traffic. The server was patient and very friendly as she balanced cooking, taking orders, and interacting with customers. Not missing a single beat. I was very impressed! So she handed me the brown paper bag. I couldn't wait to get to the car! This sandwich was huge! A beautiful golden crust! Light, not overpowered with seasoning. The homemade tarter sauce. Banana peppers and onions. In between two slices of soft Italian cream bread. Simply delicious is all I can say. This place was worth every mile driven. Great job!“
“Sat at the bar on a date night and as always I can't ever say enough good things about this place. The staff and bartenders are amazing. Even got a hair product recommendation from one of them lol. Thanks guys yall qere awesome. Austin was amazing and the food was beyond unreal. Thanks guys this place you have to go to. It's definitely an entire experience.“
“First time visiting El Potro, had the enchiladas with mole and 3 tacos dinner Al pastor and carne asada. Everything from the service to the food was great. The owner and staff are super nice!! Will definitely go back , next time will try the molcajete.“
“Catering for hungry athletes!!! This was hands down the best meal, service and value I’ve ever experienced. We needed to feed a team of teenagers after playing and Len from Zia’s was amazing. Everything went exactly as planned. Communication was prompt and regular. Len set everything up for us and helped us dress the salad and make sure we had everything we needed. The food was an absolute hit with the parents and the players. We demolished the salad and bread and the baked mostaciolli and put a huge dent in the pasta alla vodka sauce. Everyone got second helpings and were thrilled with their meal in the hotel basement of the Hampton Inn downtown. This meal put all others to shame and my only regret is that Len and Zia’s aren’t available in the other cities we’re headed to. The next time we are in St Louis we will make Zia’s our meal of choice!! Thank you!!!Vegetarian options: We went meat free since it was a Friday in Lent. No one missed the meat!! So good!“
“The lobster roll was excellent. The catfish on the poor boy sandwich tasted a little fishy and was a little light on the fish to breading ratio! Our server was great but food was a little slow coming out for the low number of customers that had ordered since we were the third table seated after they opened at 4:30pm.“
“I love the food. However, I just realized they charge 15% gratuity on carry out orders. I just paid $15 to have my food put in a plastic bag. And I always tip for carry out, not knowing until today that I'm tipping on top of the 15% they've already added.“
“Just a heads up they do have a sign that says they can search you before entering. We came in a Saturday night and it was busy! They had two customers celebrating their birthday so the bar decorated the entire place! There is a DJ in a booth. There is a stage to dance. Outside there is two covered seating areas, fire pits and tons of room for at least fifty people. The bartenders were very nice. They made us lemon drops which were delicious. The atmosphere is very neat, laid back and fun. They promote for 35 and up for the "grown and sexy." It is a club feel.“
“Really nice place inside. Don't know what the bar looked like because we didn't go in. I have heard people say that it's pricey and of course it is because this isn't your average Mexican restaurant. The menu is small plate oriented and the menu ismore like a tasting menu. The food is higher end than all the other places and outstanding. I can't comment on their drink menu because I seldom drink when going out. I will say that the pricing seem to be a bit higher than most places which will account for a higher per person ticket if one has two or three drinks. Still, our total was $70 ore tip for 2 people including 2 beers. The wait time between "courses" is a bit long but not enough for me to really complain about. The staff were friendly dmv knowledgeable about the menu. It may not me a place we'll go to monthly but we will definitely be back!“
“Delicious food with large portions! It was hot, fresh and seemed legit homemade and authentic. Fun atmosphere with live music! Service was efficient and attentive. Will return! You can tell the owner takes pride in operating a great restaurant.“
“We were in town for a long weekend celebrating our anniversary and chose to go here for our anniversary dinner. Service was outstanding, the staff was so friendly, a great atmosphere, and delicious pasta. I ordered a cosmopolitan that was great, and we got a dessert that was wonderful also.“
“Crab was a little overcooked which made it kind of hard to crack, but it tasted delicious. Service was wonderful, place was clean and very inviting. Will definitely be back.Kid-friendliness: Our kids are loud and rowdy and the server handled it all with so much grace and kindness.“
“Wow! Stopped on the way out to Kansas, my love partner and I shared a 1/2 pound ruben sandwhich ...corned beef on marbled rye with garlic parmasean fries. You have NEVER had any corned beef sandwich this lean, this tasty, and so satisfying, unless you've eaten here before. Again WOW...THE service was amazing, it was like having your favorite aunt owning a restaurant. WowFun atmosphere fun people neighborhood joint with live music!!Stop in you will not be disappointed!!!“
“This place has been around forever and for good reason, Food is fantastic service is usually good sometimes it can be a little off but they really try to keep everything running smoothly. Its usually pretty crowded so be prepared to wait, but its worth the wait.“
“This is my wife and I 1st time due to reading the reviews. I ordered the chimichunga and my wife ordered the tilapia. We really enjoyed the food and the chef even came out to ask how was our food. It was great. Also try the cantaloupe water.“
“This is in contention with the fanciest place that I've ever had dinner. I had the steak and mashed potatoes, both of which were the best that I've ever had. I added a succulent bone marrow butter that I still think about from time to time. The service is top notch as you would expect. If you are driving you have to valet park. Be prepared for that. Also, plan to spend money. It was the most expensive ticket that I've ever had.“
“Come often and never disappointed. Yesterday had Margarita', chicken wings & cheese dish. Everything was Amazing. The owner always speaks and the staff makes sure everything is to your liking. 1st class & best Mexican is St. Louis.“
“Joyful House is a MUST try! ?Have you heard that restaurants attached to grocery stores are the best hidden gems?! Joyful House definitely lives up to this expectation! My Favs:#4 Goi Cuon: Fresh Spring Rolls (PRO-TIP: these are made to order, so you can request just shrimp or just pork)#42 Lau Canh Chua: Sweet & Sour Soup Hot Pot#39 Stir Fried Chili Tofu&& they have Boba Tea!!“
“Absolutely amazing food! I've tried about 12 rolls so far, the seaweed salad, and orange chicken. My partner and I can't get enough of this place! This is one of the best places to eat around Grand and Gravois. I love being able to order online and bring it home!“
“Hidden gem! Despite being hidden in a rather boring strip mall Cowbron truly stands out as a great Mexican restaurant. It's a relatively new spot, and as I mentioned it's pretty unknown, so don't expect to wait long for a table. I personally have eaten here about 5-6 times and have yet to wait for a table on a Thursday or Friday night. Don't be fooled, they are amazing but quite off the map in terms of nearby restaurants, which is how I account for their low wait times. The food is great! The fajitas are large portions, enough for two to split after a couple baskets of chips and queso, and they have THE BEST CARNITAS I have ever had in my entire life. As a former chef I can definitely speak to this as carnitas are a dish that take time and thoughtfulness to be done great, both of which are evident once you've tried the tender meat on offer here. As a regular to Mariachis II and La Catrina I can tell you that this place has earned a spot in my top 3 favorite Mexican joints in the city. Go to Cowbron!“
“Happy hour! They have a great happy hours Monday- Friday 4-7 and 10-close… Look online for the details but the hurricane, muffaletta, peel and eat shrimp were pretty good. Fun ambiance with nice music. They have life music but we came to early. Totally worth checking for a good deal… we did get some of the house infused rums, got a daiquiri and a mojito… pomegranate and strawberry mint (or similar), both drinks were good. Recommended.“
“The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the molcajete which was amazing. The price was great for the quantity of food you get. The staff was friendly. I would recommend visiting. The interior of the restaurant is very beautiful decorated.“
“Nicki is the best Nicole is an awesome person awesome customer service ??? awesome food ??Parking: Front or backKid-friendliness: Yes and they have plenty of space ? no games but it's very nice on the inside ?Wheelchair accessibility: Yes it's wheelchair accessible ??“
“Absolutely one of the best restaurants in St. Louis. They are known for the golden fried chicken. The breading is very good. Very juicy perfectly cooked chicken. They have the BEST fried mushrooms I’ve had. The wings are AMAZING. It gets better. The SAUCES are delicious ?. All are homemade from scratch. The owner Charlene is so sweet and kind. The customer service here is excellent. This is a MUST STOP place to eat! The sides are so good you will be back for more!“
“Stopped by randomly when we saw a barbecue smoker out back. Glad we did! Ribs were awesome - don’t forget to order the Mac and cheese, it was so yummy! Wish I’d taken a pic but we ate everything so fast. Also can’t beat the people, nicest owner and staff. Definitely going again.“
“Truly a grown folks' atmosphere and great location to get some good food and drinks, enjoy some great current and throwback contemporary urban adult music, and still chill enough to engage in good conversation. Gotta stop thru to see for yourself. Just 2 minutes walk from 5th and missouri metro link station if you wish to catch the train or park and walk... or if unfamiliar with area.“
“I had been looking for another good black, owned fish, restaurant, other than mothers. Even though I like mothers fish, there aren’t many around…. When I found the Fishhouse, I realize I had found a home.. it’s a family owned business, and their fish is fresh and fried well. They even have good sides, and I don’t usually eat everyone’s side dishes.“
“The restaurant is great.. food looks great and tastes even better. Mariscos in the STL area. Plates are huge, make sure you come with a good crown to try everything. Music was too loud we couldn’t even talk…I cannot wait to be back again.Great experience ????“
“I took my daughter who's 2 on her first bus ride. It must've been God's Plan. Our scheduled day had changed just as our little adventure had begun. At first, we were just going to go home. Instead, we detoured inside to the KING CHOP SUEY on West Florissant. We had such a wonderful and memorable time! The lady took our order and was so very patient. She made our day so much better. (I wish I had learned her name.) My daughter and I sat in and ate. Well, I sat, the baby sat every once in a while. (terrible 2's ?) No one complained, made faces, or gave any attitude. The food was SO GOOD, even the Crab Rangoon! It was hot, fresh and made just as asked. She called out my order as a number but I didn't have one. (it's on the receipt btw). I told her she hadn't given me a number. She didn't argue that she did or give me any flack. She just asked what I ordered. I found it later in my pocket later with my change. (Sorry Ma'am ?) I also asked for something so my daughter could eat on her own. She gave me a cute little baby sized box. It was perfect. The place was very clean, AND I felt safe, which is really something to say in St. Louis City. So, as we're walking through the door later that night, when we FINALLY got home, the first thing my daughter said was RICE!! So we ate the leftovers. That was probably the clearest thing I've heard this girl say besides No, Mama, and Juice. Thank You Guys So Much!!! If ever I get another chance, I'll be back. I definitely recommend this location to others. A much better than their competitors. (Place Unspoken)Kid-friendliness: My daughter and I sat in and ate. “My husband I I ate breakfast at Main Street Cafe. My husband had a cheese omelette, home fries and English muffin. I had 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious. The cafe is old but clean, comfortable and the servers are attentive and friendly. We’ll be back!“
“I just wanted to take a moment this time to share how well this location is ran.. I am a regular customer that comes quite often, and every time the food is good and the service is quick and easy. Not to mention their chicken fried rice is made better than any other China king I have ever been to! I use to ask for a spoon with my rice, but now they know it before I even ask- you have my service for life, lol. It’s the little things sometimes!“
“Hosted my daughter's 21st birthday. Plenty of room, all the food was excellent and everyone had a great time. Love the wings and the pizza for sure. They have slot machines but I didn't play any. It was a great place to host a large group.“
