Fortunately he mostly looked at the ceiling, which is a super cool cloudscape. So, yeah. Amazing service, ice cream, and super friendly… just feels at odds with the decor.“

“My favorite ice cream in all of Chicago. Homemade fresh every single day so when they run out that’s it! I love that this is a small business with so much heart. The flavors are incredible. The goat cheese cashew caramel is my go to and a fan favorite. The Italian Cookie tastes exactly like biscoff cookies. Serving size is perfect. Each scoop is not too big nor too small, and every bite is packed with flavor. They have amazing options for vegans too, so many dairy free options and days where they only serve dairy free! Staff are super sweet, there is lovely little outdoor patio area with string lights and tables under shady trees. My favorite spot to grab ice cream with friends (or solo!) and sit awhile. I have been eating Black Dog for the last 5 years and I can’t recommend it enough.“

“Holy sweet mother of god. A four panel menu of ice cream is amazingly overwhelming. The sundaes don't skimp on the ice cream or the toppings. They're huuuuuge and delicious. The ambiance takes you back on time where one didn't need to worry about pesky things like calories. Service was prompt and attentive and the only down side is that now I need to work off an ice cream induced coma. Oof.“

“Ummmm….these are the best churros I’ve eaten in my whole life thus far. I have them to about 8 other adults and 10 children and EVERYONE mentioned “Oh! These are really good!” Service was quick and for me got the order correct. They got it down on how a churro is suppose to taste and the texture crispy outside soft inside but not gooey like it wasn’t cooked all the way. They are utmost fantastic hot but they are just as enjoyable cool/cold. There are not many at all that can past that test. I got plain churros cause I’m not a fan of them having stuff inside BUT based on how the plain one taste I am tempted to try all the flavors!! Horchata is house made no mix but for my taste it was super super sweet:-/“

“There was a long line, but executed quickly and friendly. I got the rainbow cone in a waffle cone. Waffle cones are made fresh daily and adds to the flavor pairing of all 5 flavors of the rainbow 🌈 Definitely recommend to friends and family.“

“I have been to kilwins several times before since my friend recommended this place to me. They have great ice-cream here and a variety of flavors! My personal favorite here is blue moon which tastes like a combination of cotton candy and bubblegum. In my most recent visit, I got a coffee chocolate chip scoop with a sugar cone! That was pretty good too. I have been to kilwins every time I visited Chicago, and I am sure I’ll go there again in my next visit. The ambience is really good too and they have a large assortment of sweets/chocolates besides the ice cream.

“Everything! This was a gustatory delight for us! We first had dinner, which was large homemade meatballs in a tomato sauce that was smooth, and non acidic. We then had lobster linguine covered with a slightly spicy creme sauce that was divine. Tender bites of lobster adorned the linguine and a tender lobster tail was there to devour. So delicious. Our waiter was so personable and careful to bring us what we requested, as we dined. We topped off our dinner with Italian donut holes that were like tender little cloud puffs. 4 sauces were there for dipping, all made from scratch. The vanilla creme anglaise reminded me of the homemade donuts filled with creme sauce that I had many years ago, as a child in Baltimore's Little Italy. There was also buttery salted caramel sauce, strawberry sauce, and chocolate hazelnut sauce.....so delightful. We were sent home with boxes of Bombolini and sauces! What a fine memory of Chicago. A special treat was when Catalina came to our table and we joyfully enjoyed her company! What a precious find.....all of this, close to Union Station in Chicago!🌿🌹❤🌠❤. 5 STARS!“

“The gelato here is good. However, the place was packed and ordering chaotic. It was like the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in there. It took forever to get served. That being said the folks behind the counter were doing a magnificent job serving the mob. They just need to come up with an orderly way to move the crowd.“

“If you are a fan of Ice cream, this is a great place to go. With dozens of ice cream flavor, package candies such as chocolate covered cherries, and half a dozen Sundays this is a great place to go.
The restaurant has a lovely antique vibe with little stereos at each table and a glass memorabilia case filled with the heritage of Margie’s Candies.
The service is great, you get your food within minutes of ordering. All the waiters are very nice and can help you pick your order. You’re seated quite fast and can easily have a to go order if you would like.
I would say Sundays are their specialty. The Sunday comes with hot fudge, wafers, and three scoops of your choice of ice cream. The portions can be shared or finished on your own. If you don’t want all that or for some reason that doesn’t sound appealing you could also get a shake. The shakes are very good, they aren’t too thick and aren’t watery. The flavor is very good and can easily substitute for a meal.
Margie’s is a great place to go whether you want a Sunday or if you looking for a fancy treat. Margie’s if a wonderful affordable way spend your afternoon.“
