“So delicious and so special to us!!! Black Dog Gelato is incredible - truly the best in Chicago. Every flavor is amazing and their team is impeccable. My husband used to live by their Damen & Iowa location and then we lived together near their Logan Square location when it was open. Our first date ended at Black Dog, and our dog is named Gelato (nicknamed Jelly). For our wedding this year, we had Black Dog in place of a wedding cake. They were so excellent to work with for this event. We had three of their standard flavors and one special flavor, which was “wedding cake” aka birthday cake without the sprinkles and with an added “Jelly” swirl. Everyone was obsessed!!! It was a perfect personal touch to the day and everything tasted SO good!!!“

“There was a long line, but executed quickly and friendly. I got the rainbow cone in a waffle cone. Waffle cones are made fresh daily and adds to the flavor pairing of all 5 flavors of the rainbow 🌈 Definitely recommend to friends and family.“

My wedding was scheduled for August 8,2020. But due to Covid-19, we unfortunately had to cancel. Janice was extremely compassionate, understanding and flexible during the whole process. Sweet Home Gelato was the most compassionate and flexible vendor. It is not easy to cancel a wedding, unfortunately many vendors were not as accommodating. Janice immediately offered a refund, date change or gift card for the deposit. Sweet Home Gelato was under no circumstance required to issue a refund. Please do consider supporting this small business that is run by good people!“

“My family and I cannot get enough of Alisha's cakes. Her tres leches is the best ever. We typically get the Oreo tres leches for our birthdays now. Everyone asks for Alisha's cakes for their birthdays. The cake is dense and rich so we usually serve smaller slices (but people will go back for seconds).“

“Everything! This was a gustatory delight for us! We first had dinner, which was large homemade meatballs in a tomato sauce that was smooth, and non acidic. We then had lobster linguine covered with a slightly spicy creme sauce that was divine. Tender bites of lobster adorned the linguine and a tender lobster tail was there to devour. So delicious. Our waiter was so personable and careful to bring us what we requested, as we dined. We topped off our dinner with Italian donut holes that were like tender little cloud puffs. 4 sauces were there for dipping, all made from scratch. The vanilla creme anglaise reminded me of the homemade donuts filled with creme sauce that I had many years ago, as a child in Baltimore's Little Italy. There was also buttery salted caramel sauce, strawberry sauce, and chocolate hazelnut sauce.....so delightful. We were sent home with boxes of Bombolini and sauces! What a fine memory of Chicago. A special treat was when Catalina came to our table and we joyfully enjoyed her company! What a precious find.....all of this, close to Union Station in Chicago!🌿🌹❤🌠❤. 5 STARS!“

I tried the churro gelato bar and will certainly be back for more and to grab a sandwich. The guy working the counter/window was super friendly and the ice cream bar was huge! Great little spot.“

“When I lived in Chicago, I loved going here. It was like time travel back to the Sixties (I didn‘t live during that time period but I could imagine…). Their strawberry/vanilla malts were to die for. Now and then, a skinny little boy was sitting all by himself at one of the tables, in front of him a huge serving of ice cream - was it their son or their grandson? I don’t know. But it must have been heaven for him growing up in an ice cream parlor.
