“Found this gem by accident while waiting around, and I’m so glad I did. The hospitality was incredible. It’s the ultimate local spot with a welcoming atmosphere. Thanks to the kind bartender and all the guests who made me feel at home.
P.S. Sorry again to Aneta, the bartender!“

“Music atmosphere people and drinks!“
“Sovereign is the best type of Chicago dive. Cheap beer, good people, best jukebox you'll find. Much love to them for letting my band do a fundraiser for my buddy's medical bills. The crowd, the staff, and the regulars dug deep and we've covered medication costs for the next couple month“

“One of Chicago’s best, and I do not say that lightly. Where else are they infusing Malört with such reckless passion, or fully covering the pool table every time they suspect the crowd may get a bit too drunk to show it the respect it deserves? Certainly the coolest bar in Wrigleyville and maybe also top 10 in The World.“
“Great, friendly, neighborhood bar. Jimmy will make you feel like you've been friends forever. Not usually open on Sundays, but Jimmy will open specially for Bears games, and you might also get to sample his homemade chili, sloppy joes, or maybe even some Little Caesar's pizza! ?“
“Met a cool girl named Katie here. She kept saying slay. Hope she’s doing well. Nice place. Awesome pool table, so clean! Jukebox was lovely and esoteric. Maybe in the future think about getting some music like “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson or perhaps some Korn. Maybe even a entire selection of Nu Metal. Drinks so yum! I drank them all. Thanks!P.S.“

“Awesome people and cool bartenders“
“walked by randomly on a Wednesday and went to the bar where I heard some music. the band was excellent, a really unique style, but brilliant. but the best part was meeting Thomas, the bar manager. as soon as I walked in he greeted me warmly and upon hearing it's my first time in Chicago, a shot was poured and I got the lowdown on local beers. I had a good chat with Thomas and could see how he was well liked by everyone there. would love to go back“
“Lovely place! Great bar service too.“
“This is the safest place to have a great time any day of the week. I highly recommend attending their Karaoke night on Saturday's. It’s always a blast and you can sing songs in any language (Spanish & English)“

“I love this place! You won’t be disappointed & Lily is an absolute QUEEN!! 🤍“
“If I could rate this place a hundred stars, I would. The owners are incredible people and I feel so welcome everytime I walk in! They also allow dogs, so it is my dog's favorite place, especially since they keep dog treats behind the bar :)“
“service here has been very good and it's a very very comfortable vibe. the atmosphere is like a low key sports bar - not quite dive like described in some reviews. the taps have a decent selection at good prices. probably wouldn't show up with a cocktail dinner but would love to see a cocktail on draft - could probably get my cocktail people in there if they added that. backdoor pseudo patio - but I've only been there January - April so maybe they add furniture? all else, will definitely return.“
“Great classic Chicago Tavern with a pool table, live music and a fun blues jam on Tuesday nights!“

“Great place to spend a night out with friends. Small intimate joint with music jams Monday nights & Thursdays.
Dennis Melzer runs a jam on Friday once a month. Great people. Wonderful times I have loved hanging out while I have been in Chicago while I was a guest in Dennis's apartment and he took me to this place.“

“Not sure how in all the time I’ve lived in this area I haven’t stumbled into this place but I’m so glad we came here for a friends bday tonight! Truly one of the most welcoming bars I’ve been to in Chicago. Everyone was so kind and friendly, and fun!! Bartends Will & Christian made the place feel like everyone was old friends :)“
“Edelweiss Tavern is a cozy, classic neighborhood bar with a welcoming vibe. The drinks menu has a solid selection of beers, cocktails, and spirits, and everything is served promptly by friendly, attentive staff. The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, perfect for a casual night out with friends or catching up over a drink. The tavern has a charming, old-school feel that adds to its character. A great spot for anyone looking for a relaxed, no-frills neighborhood bar experience in Avondale.“
“Jack has to be my favorite bartender in the whole city, you definitely have to ask him about the bar being haunted. Doesn't hurt that you can't beat the vibe or the booze prices when you're just looking to relax after work or catch the game.“
“Great, friendly local spot. It's clean with throwback decor. My fave is the Seagram's lamp. Cheap prices for drinks. They also serve pizza & Polish food. Nice place to watch the game or play pool on your choice of 2 pool tables. Come and get out of the cold.“
“If you’re at Ten cat and need great vibes, go straight to James and Jay. Their are truly the best around. They are quick, attentive, and always know how to make each guest feel welcome. Whether you want chill conversation or just someone who brings positive energy to your night, they got you covered.“

“Keenan O'Reilly's is described as "a classic example of a Chicago dive bar." So what is a dive bar? According to one definition, it typically is a small, unglamorous, eclectic, old-style bar with inexpensive drinks and may feature dim lighting, shabby or dated decor, neon beer signs, packaged beer sales, cash only service and a local clientele. By that definition, I suppose Keenan O'Reilly's fits the description. Located at 3916 North Ashland Avenue, south of Irving Park Road, at Byron, in the Lakeview neighborhood, this pub opened in 2007 in a space formerly occupied by a Polish bar and is noted for its bright white and green Special Export sign above the door. It features a good-sized room with hardwood floors, a white drop ceiling and a worn wooden bar that arcs well out into the room. It also is noted for cheap beers, relaxed atmosphere and lack of crowds. Come for drinks and friendly conversation, not food. There is no kitchen. Open from 5:30 to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 4 to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 1 a.m. on Sunday, O'Reilly's has a large beer list and manages to keep patrons entertained with pool, darts, ping-pong, electronic shuffleboard and other board games. There's also a couple of flatscreen TVs and a jukebox. There are beers on draft. Also craft brews, imports, ciders and domestics. And Trivia Night is a popular attraction every Monday. What's a dive bar? Now you know.“
“This dive bar is a breath of fresh air in a world of overpriced, trendy spots. Here, the beer is cold, the conversation flows easily, and the atmosphere is pure, unadulterated dive bar. No fancy cocktails to be found, just a solid selection of beers, including the newly added Yuengling on tap, and a welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay all night. They also offer a few liquors for basic mixed drinks or for those who like to drink their liquor neat.“
“I miss this place. It was my regular spot in 2007 & 2008 before I moved back to California. Very diverse crowd of regulars from different walks of life, but everyone knew each other. Jim is awesome. If I could still give him my money for alcohol, I would.“
“I love all the people here! ?????? I came here to celebrate ? Cinco De Mayo. And they all were so sweet. If you do decide to go just make sure you take cash....they don't accept credit/ debit cards. They're drinks are reasonable and cozy vibes. (Updated 2024: AND STILL GOOD VIBES)“
“awesome service awesome atmosphere. felt at home. love it“
“Irish Eyes has a carpet so sticky it deserves its own warning sign. The moment you step inside, your shoes form an emotional bond with the floor. It’s like walking on a mix of Velcro and mystery syrup, holding you in place just long enough to question every life choice that led you here. You don’t leave Irish Eyes, the carpet releases you when it’s good and ready.“
“Mark II Lounge has that classic dive-bar charm that feels instantly comfortable. It’s low-key, a little gritty in the best way, and perfect for a casual night out. The drinks are strong and affordable, and the atmosphere feels relaxed and unpretentious. There’s usually a good mix of regulars and newcomers, which keeps the vibe friendly and easygoing. If you’re looking for a no-frills neighborhood bar in Chicago where you can just unwind, Mark II Lounge definitely fits the bill.“

“It's the perfect dive bar with great food (big portions), best French fries and chicken wings around!, friendly customers, and staff. Family owned place who really cater to their customers and know most of the customers by name. There's a pool table, 6 TVs, and a jukebox which is perfect for hanging out and having a few shots and/or beers on the cheap. Party packages are inexpensive too and they have a nice big dining room for birthdays and group gatherings. (On Wednesday's they have drink specials.) *Cheers*“

“Visiting from another State, and needed a night cap to help me sleep. Great Atmosphere and friendly staff. Nobody bothered me either. Beer was $4.00, and I thought that was cheap despite it being Chicago and I only pay $3.25 at home. Would definitely recommend 👌“
“Been meaning to come to this bar since moving to the neighborhood a few months ago and finally did tonight. The bartender Pam rules! Exactly what you want from a local corner bar. Real, a little rough around the edges, but so welcoming. A lot of first timers tonight, and she remembers everyone’s name. She made my experience and I’ll be a regular now for sure.“

“While on the hunt for a karaoke spot in Chicago, someone pointed us toward this place. Of course we showed up on the day they dye the river for St. Patrick’s Day… so the place was absolutely packed. Like “good luck getting near the mic” packed. 🍀🎤
We didn’t get as much karaoke time as we hoped, but the vibe was still awesome. It definitely feels like the kind of place that would be a blast on a normal weekend when it’s a little less chaotic and you actually have a fighting chance to grab the mic and embarrass yourself in front of strangers. 😆“
“Stopped in to meet up with a young friend that I've known for many years it was a nice place to have a visit. Local bar. It was 9am on Saturday so it wasn't very busy. Would recommend. The bartender was attentive and interacting with all the customers.“
“One of the best dive bars I’ve ever been to! Stopped in on a Saturday night for the first time with some friends and we were so welcomed! The bartender, Alex made us feel so loved and taken care of. Our drinks were cold and never empty. She works on the weekends, we ended up spending the whole night here.
Its on our list of favorite bars in the whole city now.“

“First visit there tonight and it was a lot of fun. Everybody there was really chill, was having a good time, and the bartenders were absolutely amazing. Can't believe I didn't come here sooner but I'll definitely be here more often!“
“Great neighborhood bar. Small town feel in a big city. Clean, great prices, free pool and a huge dart side with steel tip play.
The owners and bar tenders are amazing, I have been coming here for years now after moving from a little town in the UP of Michigan. Great place and good people!
They have peanuts, pretzels and pizza.
They have food on Sundays during football season for bears games and during baseball you will never miss a cubs game here.
They will host parties.
If you like to play the slots the have machines with on site pay out.“
