“i've been bringing my family & friends here for close to 2 years, we all love Starfish Sushi. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ sushi chef right in the neighborhood, with a bespoke menu & fresh fish of course.don-bu-ri is an excellent option for your non-sushi friends (or seabass entree! plenty of options)pokemon is fun for kids& the service is kind & attentiveKid-friendliness: staff are happy to see your kids, and the kids menu has great options!“
“A must-go in the Chicago suburbs for a delicious omakase experience + unique rolls to enjoy! Went for my birthday and enjoyed the food and service so much that I took my dad here a few weeks later. We were treated with such hospitality both times — thank you Kaido Sushi!“
“My wife and I love this place. Their service is consistently amazing, and everyone is so friendly and nice. We bring our baby daughter in and they go out of their way to make her comfortable and us comfortable. They even bring her little snacks to eat and make her laugh. The sushi rolls, appetizers, daily specials and nigiri are always really good, fresh, and well priced. Probably the best toro you can get in HP area. I’ve tried their dinner entrees before too and they’re also really good! Would definitely recommend.“
“every thing tasted amazing! the portions sizes were huge, truly got our money's worth ! the champ ramen just had so much in it and paired perfectly with the most tender pork i think i have ever had. oh and the salad bar was so simple yet so perfect“
“Would highly recommend Kuro bistro for the playful menu, house-made sauces, fresh ingredients, great service, and relaxed ambience. We had hibachi scallops, sushi pizza on crispy rice, several rolls, and hibachi shrimp. We also ordered a side of the amazing spicy fermented daikon pickes and gomae. The kyuuri roll would be a perfect lunch choice too. Everything was very good and service was excellent. Lots more to explore on the menu, will be returning many times.“
“It's like stepping into a luxury hotel dining room. So beautiful with the chandeliers, drapery and gorgeous attention to details everywhere you look. Then you are treated to the freshest, fine sushi ? you can imagine. Always a wonderful experience at this restaurant.“
“My partner and I went here for a quick dinner date night. The place is really cool and modern, appearing very clean and with a nice atmosphere! They had great classic rolls, and signature rolls, for decent prices. I highly recommend this place for either a cute, quick date, or a great time with friends! Really good service too.“
“Absolutely delicious Japanese food. You can order at the counter (they’ll bring it to you) or you can order on your phone and leave a tab open (and close out at the end). We got a meal set with shio mackerel and katsu with ponzu, udon, edamame, and a large katsu curry. Everything was delicious and authentic. The prices are great for the portions and quality. If this place were near us in the city, we’d be in trouble. #curryeveryday“
“Excellent little dine-in place with great portions and picture-perfect plating. The Tonkotsu ramen was piping hot and generous with the serving, and the potato croquettes were perfect in just about every way. For the money, it's hard to do much better than this. The dine-in area is a bit spartan, but it does the job. They were playing some lovely City Pop music so the vibes were right. Will be back sometime for sure.“
“Food and service was amazing!Haven't been here for awhile. So sad they got rid of there all you can eat but totally understand why due to cost of food and inflation. As long as there service doesn't suffer, I appreciate them being around.“
“The food delicious , sushi was very tasty . The desserts were pretty good . My family and I enjoyed the atmosphere here as well as the delicious sushi rolls . We got spicy salmon, spider roll ,caterpillar ,kamikaze ,chili mango . All very delicious .“
“If you're near Libertyville craving some sushi or hibachi, this is the spot to visit. Their sushi rolls are delicious! You must try the Dragon Ferrari and OMG rolls. They won't disappoint you. They're full of flavor. It's probably my 4th time coming to this spot and they never disappoint. If you're feeling hibachi, try the stake and shirmp, it's also delicious!“
“Tokyo Bowl is one of Vernon Hills' hidden gems. It's tucked away in a strip mall off of Townline Road. Ever since I was a child, I've always asked my parents to take me here for a special lunch. Now, it's my go-to spot for sushi dates. Every dish on the menu is beautifully crafted and undeniably delicious. I would recommend this place to everyone who is a fan of Asian cuisine. If you're someone who doesn't like sushi, you should try the Korean cup-bop or the ramen instead. My favorite dishes are the mango ramen, rainbow roll, and beef cup-bop. I'd like to personally thank the business owner for being such a gentleman and providing the best possible service to all of his customers for the many, many years. You are appreciated!“
“Without a doubt this is the best Sushi Restaurant I have had the pleasure to dine in! My wife and I love sushi and we constantly look for sushi restaurants. Our To GO To place used to be Sushi Station in Rolling Meadows but Naomi sushi is just in a hole another level of taste and service! We have tried all the local restaurants such as Sushi Para, Chicago Sushi and Osaku Sushi but Naomi is just next level goodness. Please, do yourself a favor and stop by for dinner, you will thank me later!“
“The food is made fresh with high-quality ingredients. Staff beyond welcoming as well as attentive. Lunch specials are super tasty and a good value. The atmosphere is a bit basic so leaves you with that unassuming my local to good joint sensation, though there could be a bit of a room for improvement. You will simply love this place that is always open ...with easy parking .. another huge bonus!“
“I have driven by this restaurant for 3 years and finally tried it. I wish I would have stopped sooner. A gem of a restaurant, with amazing food and great service. I am a sucker for breakfast so when I saw that they serve it until 230, I had to try. The Alaska Benedict was TO DIE FOR!! The Wasabi hollandaise was such a surprisingly delightful taste. The cucumbers and lemon added a flavor and crunch that I never knew I needed in my benedict. It also came with potatoes and brussel sprouts that blew me away. Seriously, you have to try it. I also ordered a Philly roll and it was the best I've had. The smoked salmon on the Benedict and the roll was so good. The breakfast menu looks fantastic, along with the regular menu. I absolutely will be returning, I need to make up for lost time!“
“Went here with my boyfriend for a quick bite to eat for a light lunch on a Saturday! Their menu is small but still has options, I was able to get their bento box with California and Spicy tuna sushi rolls and udon soup and let me tell you it was perfect meal! My boyfriend got there chicken teriyaki bento box and with miso soup and it smelled and tasted amazing! Will be back for sure! Make sure you go and check this couples cute sushi restaurant!“
“Ordered takeout from Nobori for an outing. Nothing fancy, just California Rolls, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura rolls. All were excellent. Very tasty and fresh. I ordered during a busy dinner time and they still were ready very quick. I will be back to try the harder to make items.... Five stars.“
“Food was delicious and they had so many choices. Our server was nice. Some of our food didn't even come out until the rest of us were almost done but we went during lunch so maybe they didn't have the staff that day. Would live to go again soon.“
“Our first time and couldn’t be more impressed. We had a delicious dinner of the Mongolian Beef, the BBQ Korean Beef, egg drop soup and the crispy egg rolls. The owner is delightful and our meals came out fairly fast. They also have a drive up window - call ahead and picking up is super easy. It’s so close to Lake Bluff- I’m super excited to have found our place!!!Can’t wait to try more options. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed to try this gem!“
“Jin is my absolute FAVORITE place to grab lunch. It is truly a hidden gem. The crab ragoon is the best I have ever had. Its my favorite thing!!! Although, everything I have tried is amazing. The serving sizes are so generous and the food is so fresh and clean, not greasy. Its the BEST! You have to give it a try!“
“Blufish is a hit in our house, the go-to for sushi. What stands out? The fish-to-rice ratio—it’s just perfect, ensuring every bite is packed with fresh, delicious fish. We’re big fans of their nigiri and usually pick a roll or two to complete the meal. A must-try is the house salad with extra ginger sauce, big enough to share and a real standout. For two people, ordering nigiri, a roll, and the salad, the cost comes around thirty-five dollars per person, without drinks. This place is a gem for sushi lovers.“
“Cute little ramen spot with the see thru kitchen style. The spicy red miso ramen was delicious but quite thick as advertised. The gyoza was also delicious. The gentleman working offered a free appetizer to my friends and I which was very kind. Downside is no restrooms. Will be back to try more & eventually check out the actual restaurant.“
“Good sushi rolls!! Been here a couple times & love it, doesn’t disappoint! We ordered & recommended the Miami Roll, Spicy Tuna Tempura, Caterpillar, the dumplings are good too! They also have burrito rolls, didn’t try them but they look good. Service was great as well. Very attentive. Place was very clean as well. & food tasted so fresh.“
“Stopped in here due to the many positive reviews and it didn't disappoint! The place looks so much bigger inside than it seems from the exterior as it's located in a mini strip mall. Our server was quick and attentive. The food was fresh. It was our first time trying a hand roll and I was impressed! Will definitely come back here in the future.“
“5 stars for the all you can eat. Especially the lunch all you can eat deal! So cheap for good food. Sushi isn’t top notch but why should it be when it’s $30 or less for all you can eat. It’s still very good food! Portion sizes are great. The fried chicken roll was surprisingly good. The rangoons are heavy on cream cheese and the orange chicken wasn’t the best but those are my only complaints. The mochi and sugar donuts are very good too! Same with the egg rolls. Can’t go wrong with really anything. Definitely a must every once and awhile! Staff is friendly and attentive.“
“Many years ago we visited Koyasan in Japan and it was a village that was the center of Shingon Buddhism with 117 temples scattered around a cedar forest. We stayed overnight in one of the monasteries and dined on shojin ryori meals, made without meat, fish or animal products (and without onions or garlic). What does this have to do with Koya, the Japanese restaurant in Highland Park? Nothing, I'm afraid--the restaurant's name simply evokes memories of a very meaningful travel experience and I found myself reminiscing. This visit my Saba sashimi was cut a little thicker and did not seem to have the usual marinade. The Rainbow roll was ok but bland. The wait staff was a little argumentative when my companion checked if he was given the Dynamite roll. It was spicy but kind of meagre. We usually love dining here although this visit did not seem up to the usual standard. They do provide free miso soup if you want and complimentary mochi ice cream and Couque D'asse cookies. Though this visit was not our usual, we do love the food generally and will be back.“
“Fuji Thai is the best restaurant in the area! I worked here for 4 years when I was younger and Ive been back as a customer every time I’m in town for the past 5 years. I can say from first hand experience, everything is clean and sanitary. The staff was always great to work with. For a first job, I couldn’t have asked for more. And Mona and her family (owners) are amazing! The food is incredible. Almost everything on the menu is made fresh and from scratch. Favorites: Tom kha soup Panang curry Double shrimp lover“
“I love the rolls here and all you can eat price is pretty good! Only problem are the rolls that contain cream cheese.. boy do they put A LOT of cream cheese in it - to the point where all I could taste was cream cheese. Other than that, lovely sushi place!“
“I was passing by with my hungry family of 4, no reservations and we had a blast. They treated my kids very cordially, despite them being loud and restless sometimes. They ate what was appropriately suggested by server. The food was delicious, worth the price. Recommended.“
“I've been to Japan twice. I won't waste your time. Give them your money. I've spent plenty of time eating sushi and being disappointed. This was not that. The soba was superb and the sushi brought me back to Osaka. The prices are fair for the quality. Enjoy!“
“Have had sushi here a couple times now with my family, and it’s always so good! Really attentive and friendly service, and the sushi is fresh and tasty. The owner is also the chef, so you can really tell the care he puts into the food. Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the area ??“
“My family and I love to go to Happy sushi and it’s my absolute favorite restaurant. Our favorite rolls to get are the carnival roll and the crispy rice. Absolutely amazing service and the food is out of this world. Would highly recommend stoping by and checking out Happy sushi if you have the chance!!“
“Everything was great . New location is brighter than the old place. Sushi is so good for an AYCE restaurant. Have been going here for years and have never had a bad meal. I have ordered off the regular menu and that was also was very good. Their fried rice is delicious. I keep going back again and again,!“
“Sushi Para is a fantastic surprise! From the outside, you might not expect much, especially being on a busy street like Dundee. But wow, once inside, the sushi is amazing. For just $16.99, you can eat all the sushi you want, and it’s all so fresh and delicious. I loved everything from the miso soup to the sushi rolls. Despite the simple look of the place, the food quality is top-notch because they keep everything super fresh. It’s a great deal for such tasty food. I gave them five stars and can’t wait to visit again with my family. Everyone should try SushiPara!“
“Was unsure of how good this would be (strip mall restaurants aren’t always great)…but truly such a great experience. It was a bit quiet inside, but we made ourselves at home and decided to try. The food was really good - we got sushi, tempura, and teriyaki chicken. I got the Oyako Udon and it was great. Highly recommend.“
“We had an excellent meal of soft shelled crab along with sushi and sashimi platters. The fish was fresh, the texture perfect, the variety of sashimi was very good. The only think missing was the daikon, they use cucumber in its place. Crab was very tasty. The restaurant is a small, cozy place. I'd go back or recommend without hesitation.“
“The food is incredible. I understand this restaurant has been in existence for a long time as well it should. The lobster was exquisite, the steak was tender and seasoned beautifully. The vegetables were great, the noodles very tasty, salad dressing very good. Soup was fine nothing out of the ordinary, and we had a great time“
“Wonderful.Fresh sashimi, enough food......very nice for reasonable price. I strongly recommend this place for korean ⛳ golfers and group of persons from church or sports team members.Fantastic experience at this sushi place.Thanks.Kid-friendliness: Access....freeWheelchair accessibility: Convenient and wide parking space.“
“The host helped us alittle bit and then our server took our order but she didnt tell us till way after we got the broth and our stuff for the buffet bar thing that you have to order the meat and sushi on the tablet thing on the table. Then the robot brings it to us. They didnt refill our drinks enough either. It was okay once we got our stuff but i wish they would of told us beforehand so we could get everything together. We also got the flavor bears. They are cute but i got more flavor from the sauces bar then the bear. The food tasted good. Just wish they could of explained it better. ?“
“Food is always delicious and the service is great. Can get a bit crowded during prime dinner hours but there's always take out if you'd like to eat at homeParking: Plenty of spots to park including handicap near the doorWheelchair accessibility: The curb has been modified to allow wheelchair“
“Came here for my sisters bday and we were greeted by Chef Danny and seated immediately. We started out with a variety of appetizers. We tried the salted edamame, the miso soup, shishito pepper, chicken karaage, assorted tempura shrimp and diver sea scallops. They were all super tasty but really thought the star of the appetizers were the diver sea scallops which had a perfect sear and wonderful gelatinous consistency, they were perfect. The tempura shrimp were also amazing, they were large size shrimp with a light crispy and crunchy exterior. The rolls were wonderful as well, the ones that stood out the most were the spicy sexy dragon roll, the flaming 1800 and rainbow roll. The rolls had Alaskan king crab and lobster tempura which gave them an exotic flavor profile and really made the experience unique. One of the best sushi spots we have been to, highly recommended!“
“I was skeptical based on reading some of the previous reviews: particularly food/service being slow, etc.Short review: 3.5-4Food could use work, service seems to be improved: food & drinks out without much wait, servers rotating around often. Indoors was nice but could be cleaner.Long:I had the chicken (Hibachi) lunch with Tsukasa soup and fried rice, while my mother had the sushi lunch special. The flavor of the fried rice is lightly sweet. It feels a bit lacking; and could either use more sauce or more sesame (oil) for aromatics. Otherwise, rice itself was cooked nicely, not too oily either. The flavor of the chicken was a bit dull, salt/pepper with a slight lemony flavor. It comes with two options and I'd recommend the Teriyaki over Hibachi just due to the flavor difference.I had a few bites of the sushi special, which was much better. Plenty of sauces for easy flavor adjustments, tempura (and batter) was tasty, and rolls were pretty good, just could be rolled a little tighter/cleaner (the seaweed-nori was split).Service was fast with drinks, appetizers, and main dishes coming out one after the other without much wait. Servers were readily around, water refills, plates taken, etc.The biggest thing about the atmosphere was the cleanliness. To be expected, the floors are a little dirty (good for a Hibachi place), but I wish the tabletops were a bit cleaner. As we sat in the interior, nearby the sushi bar, I expected it to be cleaner. Otherwise, plenty of space, indoor and outdoor light, and nice decor.“
“Great local spot with authentic flavors, great lunch special (Fyi some main portions might be slightly smaller for lunch), hearty dinner portions. Small drink selections and no option for fresh juice or milk for children. Service is good but expect to ask for extra items like napkins, chopsticks or a refill. Small dining area but very delicious food. We love the spring rolls, potstickers, the orange/red curry, pad see weu, pad thai, crab Rangoon, chicken and beef skewers, sticky rice with mango, ginger chicken, shrimp tempura, all their soups too. There hasn't been anything I tried that I didn't like. They do alot of carry out so dining in the restaurant is a relaxing treat. Cute bathrooms that are clean and warm in the back as yoy go down a long hallway. Definitely check this spot out for some authentic Thai food. There is a big parking lot across that shares with other businesses in the strip mall but never had an issue with parking even during rush hour time.“
“Haven't visited in quite a while, particularly for dinner. The current chef seems to be doing a respectable job with ingredient selection and traditional preparation techniques. I didn't think we'd ever find Tara no Kiku (cod milt) fresh in Mundelein, but they're doing it. They have a nice selection to dine izakaya style. It's pretty spendy though, being higher than other similar spots around.“
“My first experience ever at a Teriyaki Madness was at the Gurnee location this past early December and I'm so glad to have tried it. TM has grown on me big time, I looove this place!Roughly 3 weeks later that month, my family & I were in Vernon Hills and my wife was asking what the dinner plans were. I knew Mellody Farm boasts an extensive array of great eats so TM sounded downright mouthwatering.I figured we haven't tried the VH location yet and my stepdaughter who hasn't tried TM yet was back from college for Christmas break so it was good timing. It's amazing what you can do with a short menu and convert it into an expanding sensation. Not sure about the slightly lower ratings at this location compared to the Gurnee location but the value of the food, cleanliness of the venue and service are all consistently good.Easily at least a couple of times a month I gotta get my fill of the madness and this place will always hit the spot. I hope for continued booming business for the owner(s) for decades to come.“
“I was hesitant to start writing, since I wanted to keep the place all to myself! But this would not be fair, so here goes my review. First, consider my vocabulary of superlatives to be already exhausted by previous reviewers. Second, these are the facts: we ate there twice in one week: we had a dinner and then immediately scheduled an omakase. Both time it was a life-changing experience. I kid you not! The sushi dinner was probably the best I ever had this side of the Pacific and this deep inland. In a 'regular' sushi place all sushis taste, well, like the defrosted raw fish with soy sauce. Not chef's Jino's! Each piece was different, complex, and exciting. The omakase performance was on par with a multi-Michelin-star restaurant I've ever been to with the difference being the absence of the usual hits or misses - hits only, be it a souffle, or sashimi, or filet. The host and waiter Danny was helpful and knowledgeable. And the place itself was pretty close to my ideal of a modern upscale restaurant - sleek, contemporary, and yet cosy. To the detriment of my convenience, I can only wish the place to have a month-long waiting list soon enough!“
