The food was great and we had so many options to choose from. The service was wonderful during the cocktail hour and dinner. They were extremely receptive to any request we had and during the wedding. Our head captain was so attentive to my husband and I making sure everything was going well and checking in to see if we needed anything. We had an amazing experience with everyone on the team and we have only heard great reviews from guests about the food! We loved working with Catered By Design and highly recommend their services!!“

I got a phone call only minutes after sending in my inquiry on the website, and they quickly prepared a a quote based on our conversation. We went back and forth a few times as my needs changed, and they helped me adjust my order to fit my budget. It was wonderful to work with one person for an event with numerous food trucks. I had their cell phone number if I needed it, and they shared mine with the food truck operators so that they could reach out to me when they arrived. The trucks arrived on time, and the food was delicious! (College students LOVE grilled cheese! Who knew?!) We will definitely work with them again for our next event and would recommend them to anyone who is planning an event.“

“After trying Hortiport for a couple of weeks I can say that, compared to the other grocery delivery services, Hortiport eliminates the untrained ‘middle man’. This guarantees your box of goodness will be the freshest and most eye-pleasing, as if you hand selected them yourself! I also appreciated the well curated selection of foodie items from local vendors. (One of whom, coincidentally, is based just 2 blocks from my home!) Helping local farmers and small producers is a ‘feel good’ for me and don’t we all need more of that these days?!“
“Lots of positives about this spot and the man, Sam, running the show. I stopped by their location in the Old Post Office food hall and had the Reuben. The meat was near perfect, the bread was exquisite, cheese slightly melty, and Sam also sent me home with one of the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve had since I moved out of my mom’s house. Really looking forward to their brick & mortar location opening up soon, to continue my journey through their deli sandwich menu.“

“If I could give more stars, I would. Over the last couple years I have used many food delivery services, Hello Fresh, Freshly, Cook Unity, and now Wholsesome 360. The difference, QUALITY!!! Fresh ingredients, no fillers, high quality oils and fats, nice portions. Not that the other services are bad, but I compare them to frozen entrees at the grocery store, but taste a bit better. My Wholesome 360 entrees were restaurant quality, but with farm to table fresh ingredients-I could literally taste each of the food elements. If you are considering a food delivery service, I recommend paying the extra dollar per meal to get local fresh meals that are good for you, that heal you.“

About the food: The appetizers were a great hit! So many complements about them and the main entrees too. I had so many guests tell me how fun it was to do the stations. I only wish I had had more time to enjoy all the options. I’m so glad we had a tasting before! It was so ideal to do the tasting a year early so we could sample what was in season for the event.

“I FOUND THIS PLACE AFTER BEING LET DOWN BY THE SLICE OF PIZZA I GOT FROM ANOTHER PLACE NOT TOO FAR FROM HERE. AFTER A QUICK GOOGLE I WAS LEAD TO THE BRIGHT PINK BUILDING THAT HAD SO MANY GOOD REVIEWS. WHEN I ARRIVED I SAW THAT THEY HAD SLICES AVAILABLE BUT THEY WERE SOLD OUT OF CHEESE AT THE TIME, SO I DECIDED TO JUST ORDER A SMALL CHEESE THIN CRUST SINCE I WAS ASSURED IT WOULD ONLY BE ABOUT 10 MINUTES. THE GUYS HERE WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND MADE THE 10 MINUTE WAIT GO BY WITH EASE. BEFORE I KNEW IT I WAS BEING TOLD THAT MY PIZZA WAS READY. I HAD TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE PIZZA BEFORE I LEFT OUT AND IT WAS A CLASSIC LOOKING THING OF BEAUTY. I HAD TO TRY A SLICE BEFORE CLOSING THE BOX BACK AND MY TASTE BUDS WERE GREETED WITH PIPING HOT DELICIOUSNESS. THE QUALITY OF THE SAUCE WAS VERY GOOD AND IT HAD THAT TRADITIONAL CLASSIC TASTE THAT YOU LOOK FOR IN A GREAT PIZZA. THE CRUST MAINTAINED ITS CRISP INTEGRITY, EVEN THOUGH I ASKED FOR A LITTLE EXTRA SAUCE ON IT. THE MELTY PULL ON THAT CHEESE WAS PERFECT FOR ME AS WELL. I ONLY ADDED CRUSH RED PEPPERS TO IT BECAUSE I LIKE A LITTLE KICK WITH MINE AND THAT MADE IT PREFECT FOR ME. “My husband and I got married this summer and had the pleasure of having BDP cater our wedding at Harold Washington Library. As most people know, planning a wedding can be stressful :). I don't think I would have survived without the help of Jasmine, Chelsey and the wonderful BDP team throughout the process. BDP goes above and beyond expectations for a wedding caterer. Their attention to the details and dedication to quality is what sets them apart from others. There is no one like them in the biz.
From our thoughtful tasting that felt like a private dinner, to our final walk through, I will never run out of good things to say about BDP. I recommend them to every couple I know getting married. The food is DELICIOUS. We had guests coming up to us left and right saying “Who catered your wedding? The food tastes like we’re eating at a nice restaurant, nowhere near ‘typical’ wedding food we usually have!”

“I was craving something small for lunch, so I thought of getting empanadas. Unsure where to go, I came across this place on Google. I drove over and went inside, where a kind man greeted me. I ordered two chicken empanadas and noticed they also sold alfajores, so I got one of those too. My coworkers were impressed when they saw me eating, especially since the empanadas came with chimichurri sauce. They were so good! Def recommend.“

“Gpay didn't work and I had no physical card. After trying the Gpay several times, I gave up. The manager asked for the drink I was drinking back, lol. I got in the car, saw my wallet in the seat and decided not to go back in. “It’s about time Chicago gets solid West African cuisine. Dozzy didn’t disappoint. Had the Designer Jollof Rice Bowl and it was delicious. I combined it with a couple orders of the shrimp suya sticks which put it over the top. Now, I loved the jollof, but that’s to be expected. What wasn’t expected was the shrimp. I can honestly say it was some of the best I’ve ever had. The herbs were perfect and it was grilled just the way I like it. I’ve known Dozzy for a long time and I’m so happy he’s sharing his gift to the world. Y’all get some.“

Two Sisters is woman- and black-owned and more than that, Chef Veah is a dream to work with! “We are so thrilled that we chose to go with Food for Thought for our August wedding! We got married at the Chicago Cultural Center, and while the venue has a number of preferred caterers, FFT was the one on that list that stood out to us. From the first phone call to the final calls and emails, they were so easy to communicate and plan with. Many of our guests said that this was the best food they've had at a wedding, and we agree we them! The hors d'oeuvres, salads, entrees, and custom drinks were all so delicious; everything turned out perfectly.
I also want to give a HUGE shoutout to Kacilynn, who was the one responsible for planning, organizing, and executing everything for us. When we met her for the tasting, she happily answered all of our questions and was just so fun to talk and work with. I had countless questions and updates throughout the planning process, especially in the final weeks, and she was responsive to everything.
One special thing she helped with was the champagne flutes; I had thrifted, cleaned, and packed over 100 champagne flutes for guests to use and take home, and I had been nervous this would be a burden to them to deal with, but she assured me that it could be done. She took the time to help me decide on a display option for them, and her team cleaned them before and after the event and packed away any leftover flutes. Her attention to detail and her ability to pull everything together seamlessly is truly unmatched.
We are beyond grateful to Kacilynn, her team, and everyone else at Food for Thought for making the food and drinks a true highlight of our wedding!“
