“We were greeted by the sound of live music. How unexpected & fun. I ordered the paella. It was very good and made me feel like I was on vacation at the beach! My husband had a fish filet stuffed with shrimp and cheese. The service was great, the food outstanding, and the atmosphere was fun.We will return.“

“Deserves more than 5 stars. Emily S is one of the best servers we've ever had. She remembered that I didn't like mustard from a previous visit several months before. She remembered the sides and drinks I liked from previous visits and made recommendations accordingly. She's been friendly and outgoing each time she has been our server. We always ask to be seated at one of her tables. Tonight we had the Goat Cheese Wontons, the Whiskey Shrimp and the Bison Filet. My husband had already made up his mind to NOT like the wontons, but after I forced him to try a bite anyway, he proceeded to continue to eat two more. We've never been disappointed in the food, the atmosphere or the service and will continue to go back. The Shanty has become one of our favorite places.“

“I came for the first time on a Thursday with my boyfriend! The waitress was super friendly and had a good attitude. The food 10/10. We ordered the fried mojarra, deviled shrimp, and the small tray of crab legs. Instead of rice I ordered pure salad and avocado with the mojarra. Everything is very rich. The drinks are also super delicious. I recommend!!!“

“I came here for my moms birthday, and I have no regrets. The food was very delightful and tasty. I had their truffle cheese stuffed ravioli, and it was amazing. I'm very excited to see what else they have to offer.The waiter helping us was of very kind by suggesting my mom a wine without much history with wine. She is a people pleaser and admitted she wasn't the biggest fan, but the ability to offer one's experience to assist was great nonetheless.“

“The atmosphere for New Year's Eve was lively and loud to be sure. Entering through a back door into a narrow space was odd and not the most welcoming set-up, especially having parked on the street along Milwaukee Ave. The dining area was comfortable, aside from a couple guests who were loud and could be heard from several tables away. Service was good and pleasant though robotic and somewhat forced. The gentleman refilling water was superb and always on his game! We never had less than half a glass full---much appreciated! We came to Chrissoulas, having read excellent reviews. The food was good, including the pasta with chorizo and octopus and gyro. The pork medallions were only three, however, with a whole lot of salad, leaving one guest in our party inadequately full and value for the money poor. Menu options were overpriced in general though not outrageous. Two televisions playing sports over the bar did not seem in keeping with a fine dining establishment, but rather with a sports bar. Overall Chrissoulas was a decent experience with good food but not deserving of the amazing reviews seen elsewhere---a solid 3-4 stars out of 5.“

“Took way to long to get food. All o ordered was wings and fries. Once the wings finally came out, they were delicious seasoned very well and crispy. Then I ordered wings to go and 1 our later I still didn't have my order. The bartender said the kitchen already brought them out. I don't know who they gave my order too but it wasn't me. So then I had to wait another 20 min.“

“Our family of 4 , 2 adults and 2 young children went for lunch, and we all loved it !!! The service was fantastic, and our server was excellent ! The food was fresh , very tasty and presented very well. I think we were all actually suprised just how much we liked it , it was that good!!!. The salad was one of the best I've ever had , and they offer small and large options for them which is great. The soup was so flavorful and filled with chicken. My husbands wrap was delicious, and the fries were very good as well. We decided to try there banana bread pudding to go and we enjoyed it very much even after warming it up later!! It was a great experience that left us talking about what we will order next time. This is a great spot and we hope it's here to stay !!Kid-friendliness: They offer free kids meals on Tuesdays with the purchase of an adult meal ! We tried their chicken nuggets and fries, the clams sandwich, the clam chowder (it was a bit thin but stilll good, the bread pudding dessert (this was yummy). This place offers quick service, is close to the interstate, limited seating. Would highly recommend this restaurant .“

“I have tried to order birria tacos in the past when visiting on a Friday. I was told it's served only on the weekend. To them this means Saturday and Sunday.We visited on Saturday and ordered 3 birria tacos. I got a plate woth 3 tacos on it but no consomme. I asked at the counter. The young woman walked in the kitchen. There was a hushed conversation and she eventually returned with a little bit of consomme in a styro cup. One of the other women came up and told me "We don't usually give the consomme with the birria tacos. We'll make a special exception this time."I have ordered birria all over this country. LosAngeles, Dallas, Houston, most recently in Franklin, KY. It has always been served with consomme. I've never had to ask for it. I am put off by this. El Rey del Pollo Asado makes good tacos, burritos, and charo beans and I'll be back for them. But is there really any reason to order birria if you have to beg for the consomme? I brought this up to a couple of my Mexican colleagues while we were at lunch and they confirmed what I felt. You order birria. You get consomme.“
